As the light died down, they came across several pedestals holding several objects such as an old leather bag, a sword and so much more which were all lined up in two rows leading to a more bigger pedestal. It was the source of the mysterious light that illuminated even the skies beyond the river.
They all approached the pedestal that stood out from among the several pedestals, resting on it was a small diamond which produced a light far greater than the sun could during the day. It was small yet it's power was immense, it sat inside an open box which cut off half it's magic.
"I'm guessing we just found what they are after." Hinata said pointing out the obvious.
"No shit, the magic level of this diamond is off the charts. I could feel it's overwhelming presence from the door." Renji responded, grinning softly.
"I-it's so powerful." Reo's eyes displayed a look of great curiosity, it was almost as if he lost himself while admiring the power of the diamond.
Closing the box in an instant, they all noticed that the level of magic that emanated from the diamond reduced greatly. The box was a containment field, designed specifically to counter the magic of the diamond. Without that box they'd be standing right in front of a nuke.
"Now that we know what they are after, what are we going to do? I mean we can't just waltz out of here with it and head back down to the bunker with this much magic, they'd track us easily." Now that they had completed one part of their quest, they finally arrived at the most difficult part.
"That is precisely what we're going to do." Renji said as he picked up the box from the altar.
"What!?" Hinata proclaimed, highly puzzled by his idea.
"It's okay, I'm sure you've noticed by now that the level of magic has diminished greatly. This way we can lure the Drakons away from the village and destroy them all in one sweep." As it stood that was the only way they could have stopped that much Drakons, by leading them out of the village to avoid casualties.
"That sounds like a plan! So who's going to lure them out of the village?" With curiosity she asked, obviously majority of the Drakons would fall for the trap. However there would still be few remaining due to their large population and one of them needed to be present in order to clear them out.
"Huh? That's you of course." Renji put bluntly, resuming his habit of rotating his pinkie in his ear.
"What?! Me!? How does that sound right to you!?" Hinata exclaimed, pointing at herself as her eyes expanded in cartoon ish manner as she complained.
"Well it's your quest, why would we risk our lives to complete it for you? That's absurd." He put bluntly again as he chuckled, enjoying every moment of this.
"C-come on!"
"Oh stop whining you big baby, I'll be the one to lure them out before you get yourself killed. Let's go." He concluded as he ran swiftly towards the entrance.
"Right." She heaved a sigh of relief, before she could run after Renji, she noticed how deeply Reo was lost in his thoughts. "Reo?" She called out to him, trying to confirm if everything was alright.
"Reo?" She called out to him again, this time attracting the attention of Renji who turned around to figure out what the issue was.
She tugged his arms several times before he came back to his senses. "Are you alright? You seemed kinda lost for a moment there." She said.
"What? Yeah everything's fine, where's the box?" He asked after discovering it was no longer on the pedestal.
"Renji has it, we're leaving now." She replied.
"Is that so? Alright let's go."
With a nod of affirmation, she ran right behind Renji who stared at Reo with his brows furrowed. Eventually they all exited the temple and when they did, they discovered the air was filled with simultaneous howls and roars all coming from the Drakons.
"T-there's so many of them!" Out of fear, Hinata couldn't help but tremble at the thought of the Drakons coming down here.
"They must have sensed the magic of the diamond when we opened the doors leading to the pedestal, now they are all trying to get down here." Renji smiled maniacally upon realizing this. "This is perfect, that means our plan will work." He added.
"What plan?" Reo asked.
"He's going to use the diamond to lure the Drakons out of the village." Hinata answered.
"W-what!? That's suicidal!" Even to Reo it was a plan that was bound to fail, he never meant to downgrade Renji's abilities but the Drakons were not human, they had great speed and agility no human could match. Outrunning even one of them was virtually impossible, but multiple Drakons?
"Yeah isn't it thrilling? Besides that's the only way to save the village." Retaining the maniacal smile on his face, Renji said overjoyed.
"B-but still!"
"Relax, It'll turn out right eventually." He boasted with confidence.
"But how are we ever going to get up there with that many Drakons surrounding the river?" Hinata spoke highlighting another major problem they'd have to face before they could execute their plan.
"Leave that to me, I just need you guys to throw me above the water when we get in." Finalizing their plans, they all ran into the river which was actually a double river with it's depths being the shore of the river in the surface.
As they swam up the river, they could already see the large numbers of Drakons jumping into the river and getting disintegrated instantly. Another notable feature to note about the Drakons was their lack of intellect.
At his signal, both Hinata and Reo channeled their magic into their hands to increase their power and threw Renji above the water. As Renji emerged from the water, he came face to face with the multi number of Drakons who all jumped at him in an attempt to devour his flesh and acquire the diamond.
Instantly, Renji gathered a considerable amount of magic in his stomach which later converted to wind. "Wind Magic: Wind Dragon's Blast!" He proclaimed, emitting a massive blast of wind from his mouth which assumed the shape of a dragon at the Drakons.
They were all blown away further into the path the dragon's roar had taken and a path was created. "Now!" He said aloud, signalling for them to emerge from the water and make a break for it as he landed on the ground.
