A Visitor

Lilian stormed out of the company, her face contorted with anger. She couldn't believe Rex had chosen some other guy over her.

She had been chosen as the perfect bride, the ideal wife for him, yet he turned the wedding down.

She climbed into the car waiting for her, tossing her bag onto the car seat and swearing under her breath as the door slammed shut behind her.

"Ooh, rough day, Ms. Chu?"

Lilian shot a glare at her butler, who was seated in the driver's seat. She stomped her feet on the leather, causing the butler to yelp in surprise.

"Woah, woah there, missy. You could've just answered me instead of doing such childish things. Ever wonder why he turned down your wedding?"

The question made Lilian pause.

She looked at the man through the rearview mirror and rolled her eyes on him.

"You know, I think you need to fix your attitude towards people."

"And I think you should stop being nosy for once, Joshua!"

Joshua, the butler, chuckled at her shrill reply, the sound of her high-pitched voice was enough to make anyone cringe. He had been her butler since she was five yet he was still not used to her high pitched whiny voice

Lilian grumbled behind him, Joshua slowly pressed on the gas pedals and the car ride proceeded smoothly after the earlier outburst.

He played some music on the car's stereo as he preferred it that way than listening to Lilian's whining in the background.

The ride was smooth and short as he took all shortcuts available on the road to reach their destination earlier than expected.

When they reached the Chu residence, Joshua opened the door for Lilian and held out his hand.

Lilian accepted it and stepped out of the car before fixing herself and her dress while Joshua grabbed anything she might have left behind.

"Thank you, nosy butler. Now, shoo."

Joshua smiled, bowing down before returning to the car. He drove off towards the garage to park the car and tend his other duties before dinner time.

Meanwhile, Lilian entered the house, striding swiftly down the long hallway by the grand staircase that led to her room.

The maid followed closely behind her, matching her footsteps.

Like a predator looking straight at his target while slowly drawing her hands towards Lilian's heels.

As Lilian reached the first step, the maid slowly and meticulously grabbed her heels, one foot after the other, before moving back to her position, holding the shoes to her side.

Lilian smirked at the sight as she entered the hallway and swayed her hair back while she walked ahead to climb up the stairs to her room.

'Home, finally!'

She sat down at her vanity mirror and removed all her accessories hooked on her ears and the tiny tiara-like headband that she had worn to impress Rex.

"But apparently, all this wasn't enough! Because of that bitch!"

She flopped on the desk near the mirror before straightening up again and fixing her hair. She combed through her tangles as she looked at her reflection in the mirror.

Lilian smiled prettily, the same smile she would wear at every party, event and media presence she attended, praised by countless men who wanted her for themselves.

But Rex Lin was the one she wanted. She grumbled, taking some wool pads and slowly removing her make up. She took all the time she needed to fix herself before flopping down to her bed.

She stared at the ceiling, thinking the future that she would've had if Rex accepted the marriage. She smiled to herself as she closed her eyes for what felt like hours before hearing a burst of giggles from outside.

She propped her back forward, using her elbows as support when she recognized the voice. "What a bad timing." It was her cousin, Audrey Yang.

"Lilian! I am here, there's nothing to fear!"

Lilian rolled her eyes and flopped back to her bed, turning away from the sudden visitor.

"Oh no, what happened? Why do you look so gloomy? Shouldn't you be celebrating that you met Rex again today?!"

Lilian groaned in response.

Seeing this, Audrey sighed heavily before settling on the fluffy pink carpet at the edge of the bed.

She placed her bag in front of her and pulled out her phone before scrolling through her feed and looking back at Lilian.

Silence took over the room, which was unusually weird for both. Eventually, the visitor's curiosity took over and she spoke up.

"Lilian, for real. What is going on? Did Rex scold you again?"

Lilian let out a heavy sigh before she dragged herself back until she was fully seated on the bed and looked at the visitor while letting out another sigh for the third time.

"No, it wasn't him this time."

Audrey looked confused and frowned, eagerly waiting for her to continue.

"It was someone else. Some rookie I met today, who thinks too highly of himself."

"Oh? Who could this be? Did you at least catch his name? We can stalk him through social media if he has an account!"

Excitement filled the room as the visitor's voice rose with an enthusiastic glee.

"I did. I saw the name on the ID that he was wearing. I think it was Lucas Wang or something."

The enthusiasm on the visitor's face slowly dropped after hearing the name.

Lucas? That Lucas Wang?

Lilian looked at the woman in front of her, puzzled.

"What is it? Do you know him?"

Audrey frantically looked at her phone and searched for a certain "Lucas" on Gugul.

Only when she saw the pictures did she look up before passing her phone towards Lilian with a shocked look on her face.

"Is this the Lucas you're talking about?"

Lilian stared at the image and nodded. "Yeah. Why?"

The visitor's jaws dropped as she continued to stare at the picture.

"Oh my gosh, girl. You won't believe what I know about him."
