"So... Who was that on the phone?" Wade questioned with a sly tone as he entered the kitchen area of the house.
"None of your damn business," Liona replied promptly with a smirk.
"Eh? How? You're my mom, so your business is my business." Wade stated with an almost confused expression on his face that was betrayed by his clearly not confused tone.
"That ain't how it works, boy; my business is my business, not yours," Liona replied as she poured herself a cup of Blood Coffee, something she had grown to love over the years.
"Ah... then that applies to me as well, right? Like my business is my business." Wade said playfully, knowing that wasn't how this conversation would unfold.
"Nope," Liona said with an almost triumphant tone. "You live under my roof and as such, your business is also mine until you move out."
"Oh, I see you're using the so-called 'parent sense,' the thing that takes the place of your common sense," Wade replied wittily.
"Get to school, asshat," Liona ordered, deciding she'd skip over Wade's words to prevent him from having any form of come-back in their small morning conversation.
Grinning at his mother, Wade spoke up. "Fine, fine, Walter! Let's go!"
"Love you, mother!" Wade commented before taking his leave from the kitchen, with Walter soon appearing beside him.
"Love you as well," Liona muttered in response as she watched her child leave, an indescribable expression now on her face instead of the one she held with Wade present.
Not long later, Wade could be seen seated in a car with Walter, a Vampire, driving him toward Forks High School, but while one was smiling happily, the other was completely aloof.
"Walter," Wade spoke, his tone calm and soothing.
"Yes, sir?" Walter replied promptly, his tone respectful and attentive.
"You are to act well around the Cullens, especially with Eliza and Alice; am I understood?" Wade ordered, his tone taking a stark change from what it just was.
"But sir... they are-" Walter relented, his grip on the wheel tightening and his teeth almost grinding against each other; his dislike toward the so-called 'Cold Ones' was as clear as day to anyone, well, at least for most but before he could even get out an entire response, Wade interrupted him.
"You will act accordingly when around the Cullens, do you understand?" Wade continued, his presence growing more commanding by the second.
Gripping the wheel tighter, Walter swallowed a mouthful of saliva before uttering a response. "I understand, sir; I will act accordingly; you have my word."
Immediately upon hearing his confirmation, Wade's happy-go-lucky smile returned, and the commanding presence he gave off disappeared. "Great! I knew you'd get me!"
Deciding to keep up the tempo, Wade continued. "Now, why can I sense that your 'distaste' toward these Cold Ones is more intense than usual?"
As implied in Wade's words, this wasn't his first time meeting Cold Ones with Walter in tow, but this was the first time he'd shown his dislike toward them in such a fashion; instead, he usually just killed them immediately or outright ignored them altogether.
"I do not believe it is wise to have such creatures near you, sir," Walter replied in a beat, proving the truth behind his response.
"Is that why you're more snappy?" Wade asked with an arched brow; the vampire would never snap at him, but the same couldn't be said for others outside of his mother.
"No," Walter stated immediately. "My annoyance is because they must wish to get close to you for their benefits alone... their reasons for befriending you are impure."
Upon hearing Walter's response, Wade could only relax back into his seat. He knew the Cullens hadn't approached him with bad intentions, but he'd never be able to prove that to his dear butler, who looked upon the world with a critical eye.
'This guy needs some pussy.'
"Hehe, me too." Wade chuckled at his own words despite the confusion that built within Walter due to it.
"Excuse me, sir?" Walter continued wanting to understand where his confusion came from.
"Huh? Oh, sorry, anyway, back to what we were saying." Wade commented before clearing his throat. "Why not give the Cullens a chance?"
"A chance? I apologize; I don't quite understand what you mean, sir." Walter replied.
"Y'know... like give them a chance to be looked at as more than a bug." Wade retorted.
"But they are bugs..." Walter stated with confidence, but from deeper within his tone; Wade could tell he was a bit confused at what he was trying to convey.
"Then let's start there." Wade grinned.
"You mean?" Walter replied, growing more confused.
"I mean, let's start there, the Cullens aren't bugs," Wade explained. "How about we think of them as... trees."
"As trees?" Walter continued.
"Yeah." the reincarnator replied as his grin grew. "Trees are everywhere, dude, but instead of lashing out at them, we either use them for their purpose or we tolerate their existence," Wade stated. His goal wasn't to make Walter love the Cullens at this very moment but to slowly move them from their current Hate category to the Tolerate category and then proceed from there.
Silence fell after Wade proposed this small idea that was also categorized as a change, which wasn't usual for the old vampire that Walter was, but nonetheless, Wade was certain that over time, he could convert Walter into a more reasonable person.
Knowing this proposal would get the rusted cogs in Walter's mind moving, Wade opted to stay silent for the remainder of the ride to school and instead decided to think of two very specific vampire women.
Sometime later, Wade and Walter arrived at Forks High School, but with their arrival came the intense gazes of the human populace who attended this school alongside Wade and the Cullens.
"Have a good day, sir," Walter commented in a butler-like fashion as he opened the door for Wade to get out of the car.
"Thanks, butler-man," Wade replied as he got out of the car he was driving in. "Keep thinking about what I said, Walter; perhaps we'll figure something new and fun out, huh?"
"I'll certainly try, sir," Walter replied, understanding what Wade's words insinuated.
"Good, that's all I can ask for," Wade stated before he patted Walter's shoulder. "And who knows? Maybe your mate will even be a Cold One..."
Immediately after Wade said the last part of his sentence, Walters's face contorted in pure and utter disgust at the mere thought of being mated with a cold one; honestly, Walter felt horrible for Wade as he was mated to not one but two Cold Ones so the additional thought of he himself being mated to one was disgusting for him.
"No... sir... let's not hope for that," Walter replied seriously, causing Wade to laugh.
"Well, we'll certainly see!" Wade said before making his way into the school and leaving Walter all alone with his thoughts.
Now making his way down the school hallways, Wade held in a grin as he sensed two women slip behind him before one looped their arm into his right one, and the other woman merely made her way to his side but stood close.
"Morning, Wade!" Alice beamed happily, her tone clear, light, and lovely like always.
"Goodmorning," Wade replied with a small but genuine smile whilst knowing that Eliza would more likely than not offer him a morning greeting.
"Sooooo~ what did you do after you left our place?" Alice asked playfully.
"It was alright," Wade replied with a nod. "I'm pretty sure my moms got a Boytoy, though; that was weird, especially since she'd been a virgin for forever..."
Upon hearing Wade, both Eliza and Alice grew confused; Wade was present, and for that to be the case, his mother had to give birth to him, so she was definitely not a virgin since to get pregnant, one needed to have sex.
"Stop being stupid," Eliza stated, her tone cold, but the emotion she had shown before told Wade plenty.
Smiling down at Eliza, who was walking very closely beside him, Wade threw his free left arm over her shoulder before pulling her even closer and speaking. "Oh, c'mon~ do you reallllly think I'm stupid?"
"I think you're incredibly stupid." Eliza shot back before sending Wade a glare, but not once did she even make the notion of pulling away from his arm over her shoulder. "Who gets into a car crash when they could get away injury-free? A massive lunatic."
"True," Alice commented in agreeance with her sister.
"Well..." Wade couldn't deny their reasoning since they were correct.
Seeing Wade's lack of a witty response, both Alice and Eliza felt happy inwardly, as this could be interpreted as Wade understanding his mistake from before.
Clearing his throat, Wade continued. "Anyways, ladies, how about we-,"
"We're here." Eliza interrupted.
"Bad timing if I've ever experienced it," Wade commented, causing Alice to giggle adorably as they arrived at his first-period class.
"We've got something to take care of, so see you soon, handsome!" Alice stated before she disconnected from Wade, took Eliza's wrist, and left quickly.
"See you later too..." Wade muttered under his breath as he sensed the lack of two vampires at each side; at this point, he already wished to take them both, leave school, and hang out all day, but unfortunately... school demanded other things from him, or well, at least his mother did.
'At least I graduate this year.' Wade said inwardly, but despite this thought, the fact that the old 'main character' Isabella Swan was in for a tough time today remained nonetheless.
To be ended...
