"What?"
"As I said, if we want to win. We have to bring the modern cricket out. We need to score 400 in the next 70 overs. If possible we need to do it in 60 overs."
Looks like that's impossible, especially since they know what kind of pitch this is.
"Hehe...hehehe...heheheheh... Hahahaha, yaa that's... That's exactly what I was waiting for. I'll show you what I'm made of."
The Captain shouted
Haa, looks like I was worried for nothing.
"He, this is right up my alley."
This time it was the vice captain who said that.
Haa, I'm actually quite surprised they even listened to me.
"Yaa, now I can play my game. It's been so hard defending the ball, I've good reflexes when it comes to hard hitting."
"Same here."
Looks like it's hard for them to play natural test. Unlike us, the other team seems to be really good at defense.
We need to learn defence. A lot of practice is needed for it.
"I suggest everybody learns defense use the highest speed in those practice Machines and practice defense. If not y'all won't survive in the next matches. Especially practice Spin and extra and low bounce so you better your reflexes."
"I guess it's understandable, these pitches are totally different from the ones we usually play in."
Said the VC
"Alright y'all I want everyone to practice Your defense every day. Use tomorrow to practice the whole day, I'll sponcer the Recovery potions. Since I didn't use any form my matches I'll give mine to y'all."
"Ooh thanks Man."
"Anyway, it's the day of the match. It's 7:30 and the match will start at 9:30, so I suggest every body start training already. While Me and Ron will go to the Ground pad up and wait for the match to start."
...
"So, we lost our wickets before we could even make it past 30 overs..."
"Yup, we lost."
...
The match ended before we could even get past the 30 overs. I got my wickets shattered on the very first ball of day 5 and I ended up making only 2 of 22 balls.
By the end of the session, we needed up losing the remaining 8 wickets for 70 odd runs with 4, 0 runs in those 8 wickets.
It was a total defeat. They were by far the better players in the match.
We were pretty helpless against their bowling attack. They had the whole package of good spinners and Seamers with great stamina.
There was a lot we failed to do, and we ended up really short.
It was a total loss.
...
"So, y'all lost haa? Well, I guess it's alright. You'll only get better in the next match, so don't lose hope. Best of luck."
"Thanks, so how's Justin's matches going?"
"He's played 2 matches and he's won both of them. As a captain, he's led the team well. I'm impressed that the guy can lead well."
"Well, that's good to hear."
If wasn't surprising at all. It was almost expected. Compared to him, I'm kinda useless for my team.
I tried mindlessly slogging the ball because I was under pressure and had my wickets shattered.
"It's alright, I don't know much about your sport. But, I think you did really well. Afterall, you did your best, it's too bad you couldn't win because your team was holding you back."
"Well thanks for making me feel good, but those guys aren't bad players. They don't seem to adapt well to such conditions, if they did than they'd probably be beasts in the game."
"Well, if you say so. I'll come cheer you on whenever Justin doesn't have a match so do well. I wanna see you playing the final and winning it. Especially since the crowd has gotten bigger. I guess it's the effect of the princess and the principal's daughter watching it."
"Well, there's the Beautiful Commoner Powerhouse too. People are talking about just how she's comparable to the Fey and Amber's beauty. And now that I take a closer look at you, they are right."
"Wh... What are you talking about.. f.. fff... Flattery won't get you anywhere."
While she was spouting such cliched stuff, I was pondering over the fact that even if I was a part of the final you probably won't be able to see me win the match.
Well, unless it doesn't go until the last day, which is also the date of the final of the Football Match.
Surprisingly the final takes place in the Afternoon from 1-3.
Which is surprising since a final is supposed to be a night game but these people don't have Stadium lights so they have afternoon matches instead of night matches.
A match usually starts at 9:30 in the morning and ends At 6:30 in the Evening.
They won't be able to make it since with even the transportation they'll probably take about 2 hours to come.
Well there's no point in worrying about those games.
It's important that I focus on my coming matches instead.
...
We'd won the toss this time and elected to field first.
By the end of the 2nd session they ended up losing all of their wickets for 220 runs.
At the beginning when the seamers came in with the new ball, there was absolutely no swing to offer.
The sudden change caused the bowlers to panic and they couldn't keep their line and length well.
Which resulted in awful mistakes.
This is really gonna make them lose their confidence now.
They were able to bowl 25 overs in those 58 overs which is a lot when compared to the previous match.
While the spinners did Most of the damage, taking 8 of the 10 wickets.
I took 1 wicket in my 4 overs and gave up around 10 Runs.
Which is a lot when we look at how much the pitch is helping the spinners.
Now, hell employ spinners alot since the pitch is a spinning track.
And so it was our turn to bat.
I was good against spinners and Seamers so I took the seamers for runs and defended the spinners well.
And made a 100 of 173 balls. And out of excitement I tried smacking the ball hard and got myself out in the process.
How embarrassing.
But luckily the others didn't fall like pins and managed to keep their wickets well until the end of 3rd day.
Which gave us a massive lead of 424.
With the Captain Scoring 79 off 120 and Vice scoring 122 off 247.
There are major contributions from the lower order and the opening partners built up a 100 together with Reverie scoring the bulk of the runs.
Making 62 off 72.
We played a total of 7 sessions which really put us at an advantage when we ended up at 644 Runs.
Which is huge when comparing the pitch.
I actually scored a 100 which ended up great.
I'm most surprised about Travis, this guy seems to score 100's for fun.
He's played 3 Innings and already scored 2 hundreds and a 32.
I'm quite surprised.
Well he is the Vice Captain afterall.
Meanwhile the captain has always been the backbone of the lower order making crucial runs on every occasion.
As the 4th day started, we mostly put in the spinners and didn't use the Seamers much.
We declared the innings after scoring 644/6 wickets.
And in response to that, the team got all out for 300 odd runs by the end of the 60th over.
We really cut it close this time, we were lucky they lost wickets like dumbasses at the beginning by being aggressive.
If not we'd have had a problem.
And with that, we'd managed to win against the D Team.
And got a win for us.
