Arc 1

Ye Jin stood before the principal's office, her expression calm and unyielding. Beside her was Mei Yun, who was in tears.

"I am so sorry, Ye Jin. If I knew this would have happened, I would have…"

"You wouldn't have been able to do anything," Ye Jin interrupted.

Mei Yun knew that she wouldn't have been able to do anything, but hearing it vocalized by Ye Jin hurt her even more. If only her mother wasn't dead, at least she would have had some authority in the Mei family. But now, she was just like a disregarded rag in the family, with a father who didn't even care about her existence and a stepmother and stepsister who despised her.

"I am sorry," Mei Yun said in a low voice.

Ye Jin looked at her, her gaze softening. She sighed, then smiled softly. "Don't be sorry, it's not your fault." She gently patted Mei Yun's hair and assured her, "Don't worry, I've got this."

Ye Jin hated involving herself in matters that didn't relate to her in any way. Even if it did have something to do with her, if she could avoid it without suffering any consequences, she would. However, in rare instances where she did involve herself, she always had a way out, and this case was no exception.

"Ye Jin, come in," the principal, Xie Huan, called from the office.

Ye Jin opened the door.

Inside the office was the principal, sitting behind an enormous table, looking quite stern. Beside him was Mrs. Wang, the mother of Wang Shi, the ringleader of the bullies whom Ye Jin had punched. Mrs. Wang was a reputable figure in the fashion industry as the head of the Wang clothing empire.

Mrs. Wang's eyes were blazing with anger. She could not believe that someone could dare raise their hands against her precious daughter. Even she, her mother, had never done that before. Wang Shi was the only child she and her husband had been able to conceive after over 10 years of marriage. Because of that, Mrs. Wang made sure she spoiled Wang Shi rotten, allowing her to do whatever she wanted and get whatever she wished for.

As Ye Jin stepped inside the office, Mrs. Wang lunged forward, her hands raised high, ready to strike Ye Jin across the face. But Principal Xie raised his hands, stopping her. "Mrs. Wang, please, let's handle this calmly."

Principal Xie turned to Ye Jin. "Ye Jin, please call your guardian as his presence is needed here immediately."

Ye Jin answered flatly, "My guardian is currently not in the country. He wouldn't want me disturbing him with such trivial matters."

Principal Xie's face twitched in anger. "This is not a trivial matter."

Ye Jin: "He will consider it a trivial matter."

Ye Jin who could barely count the times the original Ye Jin saw her uncle in a year on one hand, what were the odds that he would come over cause she beat up some students?

Zero

Principal Xie was visibly annoyed, but he quickly masked his annoyance. "Ye Jin, Wang Shi claimed that you suddenly attacked her out of nowhere, that she didn't even know who you were. Please, can you explain why you beat up your fellow students?"

Ye Jin's gaze became cold as she locked eyes with Principal Xie. "Why don't you ask Wang Shi why they were beating up Mei Yun for no reason either?"

Principal Xie's face darkened. He had never met such a brazen, insolent student, except for that crazy Gu kid. "That's not the point here. You should have reported it."

Ye Jin icily replied, "Mei Yun reported it various times in the previous months, yet nothing was done. So I took matters into my own hands because no one else would." She chuckled. "And it's quite funny that you, Principal Xie, were quick to call me over because of Wang Shi, yet I don't think you have ever called Wang Shi over because of Mei Yun. Is it because her father is yet to donate a huge building on her behalf, or…?"

Mrs. Wang's face twisted in anger, and she hurriedly interrupted Ye Jin. "You insolent…"

Ye Jin cut her off, pulling out her phone. "I have a video of your daughter and her friends bullying Mei Yun." She chuckled, but her eyes were cold and filled with disdain. "If I can recall correctly, Mrs. Wang, you have an ongoing dispute with the Ping family, don't you?"

Mrs. Wang eyes widened in surprise, but she quickly hid her expression and snorted. "What are you pulling?"

Ye Jin smirked. "I was wondering, what if my finger slips and I mistakenly send it to them?" She sneered, and her voice became chilly. "If you don't want that happening, I suggest you don't try anything funny. Same goes for you, Principal Xie."

Principal Xie looked at Ye Jin in disbelief, while Mrs. Wang was extremely angry she was no fool. While such a threat normally wouldn't move her, her ongoing dispute with the Ping family was a secret, so for this young girl to have that information meant she had some connections. She loved her daughter, but she couldn't afford to ruin her decades of hard work just for her.

She glared at Ye Jin but said nothing more. If she'd eventually discovered that this brat had no power, she would make sure to deal with her thoroughly.

Principal Xie, noticing that Mrs. Wang had compromised, sighed and said, "Ye Jin, you are dismissed for now. We'll discuss this further later."

Ye Jin gave a small bow, smiled, and walked out of the office.

Principal Xie looked at the departing figure and sighed once again. He really wanted to quit his job. He was not paid enough for all the drama he had to deal with each day.
