The Cute Kendo Girls (½)

{Alert: Supernatural Being}

{Threat: High-High Level}

{Type: Nekoshou/Devil}

"Meow."

That meow that felt cute just a second ago felt scary now.

How is this cute little cat a devil?

"H-How did you get hurt, kitty?"

I calmed myself.

Because who knows what the cat devil might do if it realizes I figured out its identity.

"Do you want me to look at your wound?"

If I made it obvious that I knew about the cat's identity, who knew what it might do?

And I won't lie, it wasn't difficult for this cat to kill me if it wanted, given the system notification.

But it didn't attack me and above all, there was no aggression meter on the system, so even if it talked about the threat level of the person, it did not state whether they were offensive towards me or not.

And for some reason, looking at this injured cat, I doubt it would want to kill me without a reason.

"Meow~"

The cat scooted closer to me, rubbing its head against my palm.

Can it be that devils are not just human shaped beings but it is a broader definition that encompasses animals of the Underworld too?

I will have to ask Rias about it later, but for now, I need to deal with this dangerous little kitty.

"Then come with me, kitty cat."

Wrapping my arms around the cat, without pushing its injury or making it uncomfortable, I walked towards the pet clinic.

I have bandages and first aid at home, but there is just no way I am willing to take a devil home, especially when my mom is there too.

So, I walked the neighborhood and went the opposite side from my home, taking the cat to the pet clinic which was quite far from my home.

There was another one that was close, but I didn't take it there because of obvious reasons.

"Meow~"

"We are close." I softly ran my finger over its head, making it relax a little.

Do devil cats have a different physiology or would it appear the same as a regular house cat in an inspection?

Guess we will find out.

And most probably it won't take long as we were already at the place, standing right against the pet clinic.

"Don't worry," I assured the cat, hoping it would understand. "The doctors will make the pain go away in seconds."

There were cut wounds over its legs so I wasn't sure how fast it would heal, but I still made sure to assure the cat.

Walking inside the unfamiliar clinic, I hoped that the cat wouldn't get aggravated.

"Takeda?"

And as I was focused on the cat, I heard a somewhat familiar voice. It was an area that I did not visit often, and I wasn't a very popular person either.

So, when I heard someone calling my name, I was taken aback.

"Reo Takeda, right?" It was a girl with dyed pink hair and a surprised look on her face. "Class 3-A?"

"Uh, yes?"

I think I have seen her before.

No wait.

"Are you from the Kendo club?" Now, I remember.

"Katase from the Kendo club." She nodded enthusiastically. "But I didn't think you would forget my face this easily."

She showed a fake look of sadness, in a way teasing me.

"I wouldn't have if you had given me your name back then." I played along, "After helping your club catch the three perverts, you all rushed dragging them without even leaving behind a thank you."

"That err…" The teasing face turned into one of embarrassment real fast.

"It's fine." It was fun seeing the cute and embarrassed expression, but I didn't want to put her in a difficult spot. "I understand that you had to take them to the student council. After all, it's not safe to have perverts roaming freely."

I could feel her thankful aura on me for not dragging the matter.

"I am glad you understand." She sighed out. "Even after repeated warnings and us Kendo girls beating the three of them up, they just don't change."

I won't lie, but I am still amazed how those three haven't been kicked out of the school yet.

Then again, as ashamed as I am to say this… but our country has a massive problem of perverts.

Stalking and groping have increased drastically in the last few months and I seriously hope that the government can do something about it.

Then again, putting pressure on the government for everything is not the way either.

"Have you tried contacting the authorities about them?" I genuinely wondered what the authorities were thinking.

"The student council said that they would deal with them, but they never did." She shook her head in disappointment. "Looks like we are stuck with those three."

At times like this, I wished the authorities involved themselves in these matters directly rather than letting some students play the police.

Especially since that play has never worked.

But what can I do?

I am just another guy at Kuoh Academy.

"Anyhow, is that your cat?" She asked, pointing at the cat in my arms.

Crap.

Almost forget about the kitty. And the cat staying quiet and unmoving for so long almost made me ignore her existence.

"Ah, no." I slowly looked at the cat, and I don't know if I am overthinking —but it feels like the cat is actively listening to our talks. "I found her nearby, and she is a little injured."

This made her recall that she too is a part of the clinic —which I had no clue of before today.

"Oh, let me take a look!" She rushed towards me and the cat, sliding through the neatly polished tiles.

It was weird seeing her in a nurse dress, pink and white and definitely cute.

Now that I think about it, I have seen only a few people of Kuoh Academy in clothes outside the uniform.

And Katase is one of them. But what is especially funny is that now since she is out of one uniform, she is stuck in another.

"Are you doing part-time here?" Not like there could be any other reason.

She nodded, taking the cat to her arms. "This clinic is run by my aunt, but because of an accident, her helper is unable to come and all her contacts were busy." She looked over the kitty's wounds. "So, I have been helping her after class since last week. And of course, getting paid in the process as well."

"That's nice." I too tried working at a McDonald's, but unfortunately the manager sucked and I decided to quit.

Not to mention my mom hated me working at a McDonald's.

"But I wonder how she got hurt." Katase looked around the wound, "Looks like a cut, like blades."

This made so many possibilities run in my head, many ridiculously overboard. But what left my lips was the most normal out of them all.

"Maybe those razor edged fences?"

That made her think for a second, before agreeing with me. "Very possible."

"Will she be alright?" I hoped so, devil or not, I had a soft side for animals —especially cats and dogs.

"These are deep cuts." She frowned, slowly looking around the cat's legs without pushing on them. "I am surprised she is so calm considering her feet must hurt even from standing."

"So…" I got a little worried.

"But she will be fine." She assured me, "I will have to sanitize the area of the wound, disinfect it and put some lotion around it." She looked at the wound deeply, "We might need to put a stitch or two, but that can only be decided once my aunt looks at the cuts."

"And… where is she now?"

I could guess by now that her aunt wasn't around.

And I hit the bullseye with it as Katase's expression soured instantly.

"She said she is going out for some fresh air, but hasn't returned since the last half hour." She looked at the telephone. "Don't worry, I will call her, so you can sit and be comfortable."

I was going to, but just then something happened.

And that something almost made my face go completely red while Katase chuckled heartedly, even the cat found it funny.

"Meow Meow~"

Shut up.

Barely stopping her smile, Katase said. "If you are hungry, you can have ramen at the shop right next to the clinic. They have really delicious food."

"O-Okay…"

Yeah, it was my stomach.

I had not eaten anything since lunch, and lunch was hours ago. By now, I would be munching on something tasty cooked by mom but here I was hungry and standing.

Worse of all, I didn't expect the growl of my stomach to be this loud.

Embarrassing man… embarrassing.

"Will you be able to handle her alone?" I asked, staring at the cat.

I was a little worried, as this wasn't just your average cat.

She nodded strongly, "I may be part-time here, but I have been helping my aunt since I was a child. So, you can rest assured and go enjoy your food."

It was not the experience I was worried about, but something else entirely.

But then again… What can I even do if the cat attacked?

The threat level was off the charts and I certainly cannot defend against that.

So, I decided to trust the cat being docile and gave Katase a nod.

"Then… I will be back in ten minutes."

She laughed, "You can take your time." She lifted up the cat towards me, "She is in good hands."

All I could do was nod.

I mean, I knew that she was in good hands. I just wasn't sure if Katase was in good company.

All I could do was hope and pray for her.

"Well then, I will be back soon."

"Enjoy."

I started moving towards the glass door before my stomach could growl again and embarrass me further.

However as I opened the door, I decided to look towards her once more.

"By the way, Katase."

"Mhm?"

The door was opened while I gave the part-timer a smile.

"You look cute in that uniform."

And with that, I closed the door behind me —walking out to stuff my stomach and mouth with some good food.

Leaving behind a girl with blushing cheeks — cheeks that I regret not noticing.
