A DROP OF INSIGHT

ASTRID

Samantha and another servant told me what happened when Cayon's knock rang out.

"The alpha wants you to come with me," he'd said calmly, but I looked at the scratch on his face to know that calm was the last thing he felt.

And as we all rushed downstairs towards Magnus' office, I could already tell something was happening.

"He wouldn't let me hit a woman," Cayon muttered.

"Does she deserve it?" I asked, and he quickly nodded.

"Yes."

"Then I'll do it."

I barged into the room, prepared for the worst, only to find a red-faced woman with thick, dark hair thrashing my husband's office.

"Finally!!" She bellowed, turning to face me with wild eyes.

"Who are you?"

"Someone you should be afraid of!" She retorted, and I flinched as some of her saliva flew out and straight at my face.

"Get out!" I ordered as I approached her, my heart slamming against my chest like a hammer.
