Chapter Eight

The next morning.

Mrs Quinlan stands in front of her window over looking the greens in Marlenia with a cup of green tea in her hand. She thought about her child who was in far away in Luminaria.

She sighed. After her baby's heart was broken by that coward who left a lioness for a cow, she travelled far away to Luminaria. Mrs Quinlan loved to talk to her daughter but the child hardly picks her calls when she saw that every call was always laden with pity.

She missed her child especially when the girl always enjoyed having her meals and smiling and praising her.

She took her phone from the dressing table and dialed the child's number.

It rang twice but the child did not pick.

She sat down on the bed and took a sip from her tea.

Elianore comes out of the bathroom dripping wet. She felt better today after all it was the second day of her period. She used a towel to dry her body before putting on her clothes.

Taking the flask of warm water that Emily kept for her, she poured herself some in a cup and hummed.q

"Today is going to be a great day."

She drank the water and dropped the flask back.

"Imma have breakfast."

She turned and skipped to the door, on a second thought, she went to unplug her phone from the charger and the phone lit up as the power had been disconnected.

She saw the missed call notification on her phone, tapped it, drew her pattern and her eyes lit up when she saw it was her mother.

She quickly called back.

"Momma"

__

"I'm sorry I missed your call I missed your call, I was in the bathroom."

__

"Oh, my voice, it's period. Shitty, shitty period."

__

"Sorry ma."

__

"You want to come to Marlenia."

__

"Of course, it's been long. I miss the greens."

__

"Tomorrow will be great."

__

"Bye love you. Cook my favorite."

__

Elianore hung up the call and jumped and clapped with her legs.

She then turned and left her bedroom. It was a good thing that she took a months leave from work. After her blood pressure had raised to 150/100, she knew she had to take rest and the hospital agreed, after all she was one of the best staffs.

She sat on the table awaiting breakfast.

"Good morning Emily."

"Morning Eli, breakfast will be ready in a sec."

"Alright. Take your sweet time."

Elianore heard Emily laugh. She ate sarcasm as food and never got tired of using it on people.

She relaxed back and her canine creature walked up to her and she patted it's head.

"Morning Lily."

Lily looked at her with that pretty look on her face.

"Lianore will be going away for some time. You will be a good girl and take care of Emily, won't you?"

Lily whined and Elianore chuckled softly.

"Aww Lily, don't be mad at me."

Lily looked up as Emily walked into the dinning room with a tray containing sweetness.

"Breakfast is served."

Elianore looked at what the tray contained. It was whole toast with avocado and scrambled eggs and when she peered into the cup, she looked at Emily with a scowl-herbal tea.

"You know yesterday, most of the contents of your stomach was emptied out and so I decided to help you recover the nutrients you couldn't get yesterday today."

"That's very wonderful of you."

"Seriously Quinlan you are getting pale. You work a lot and hardly eat. You don't know how happy I was when I heard that you took a months leave, you need it."

Elianore sighed and leaned back on the chair. Anytime Emily addressed her by her surname, she wasn't being funny but serious.

" Your mother won't be pleased seeing you like this"

" I'm going to be with her by tomorrow."

" What?"

" She called today and asked me to come back to Marlenia and I'm going."

" Good gracious, I will get your bag prepared."

Emily rushed inside just as Elianore was about to stand up to dispose her breakfast.

" And don't even think of ditching breakfast Quinlan."

Elianore groaned as she stuffed her mouth with the toast frowning as she chewed.
