Chapter Nine

Nicholas Anthony sits at one of his many restaurants having a discussion with his long time friend and business partner, Ethan Thompson.

They both have served glasses of water untouched as they discuss a potential merger between their companies.

"Trust me on this one Anthony. This will bring a lot of benefits to us and potentially change the way the world views technology."

Nicholas Anthony leans back against his sit and let out a heavy sigh. Doing business wasn't easy, according to what Pa always told him, it was like flipping a coin, you weren't sure what you will get. It could be head or tail- failure or success.

Ethan Thompson was suggesting a merger between their two companies. The merger would create a global tech giant focused on AI powered renewable energy solutions.

The business law was that Nicholas would be the CEO of this new merger while Thompson would be COO. If this venture was successful, they would generate a lot of money but if not, their companies would lose a lot of money with Nicholas suffering a lot more, this was the business law.

Nicholas sighed and brushed his blonde hair to his side, his blue eyes lost in his thoughts but his ears sharp and alert to any signs of potential danger.

He looked to his left and saw his car parked outside with his faithful driver Johnny sitting in it. Since he felt safe outside with Thompson he didn't bring his bodyguards or his bullet proof cars. Risky but the man had done this before.

He returned his gaze back to Thompson.

"Ethan, this is a good business proposal BUT... It is a risky one and knowing that I am dancing on hot coals with a crate of eggs, I do not want to dance alone."

Thompson looked at Nicholas waiting for the man to speak. Sometimes he wondered why this man talked like an old man when he himself was even older than him. Nicholas was just thirty three years old while he himself was thirty nine.

" We will have to share the risks and the profits equally."

Thompson sighed

" Alright."

" You agree. That fast?"

" Come on. We have been friends since college and I have never regretted ever trusting you."

Nicholas nodded. They both had their lawyers who had been sitting quietly by their sides prepare a contract which they signed afterwards. They shook hands and Thompson took his leave first. Nicholas exchanged some few words with the lawyer and after gulping down some water, they both walked out of his restaurant.

Nicholas slipped into his car and saw his old man with white hair reading an old newspaper.

"Johnny, you still be reading old papers."

" Like I say boss, old news is better than no news at all."

Nicholas chuckled, johnny could change from being a calm, good old man to a grumpy old fellow.

"To the office Johnny."

"Alright Boss."

Johnny dropped the papers, fixed his seat belt and drove out of the cars parking space.
