The Third

Just as Maverick and Lawrence walked through the stair to the underground headquarters, people passing by, would respectfully greet Lawrence, the well-known captain of the special force.

The headquarters, typically active only at night, was slowly filling up with soldiers as dusk approached.

It was the time of day when the headquarters came alive with activity, and the need for protection from the lurking danger of vampires grew ever more present.

Each year, the number of recruits increased, and with it, Lawrence's responsibilities as well. He had single-handedly built this special squad from the ground up—recruiting ex-army men, aristocrats, and commoners whose families had been taken by vampires.

Many soldiers joined because Lawrence had saved them or their loved ones from death's grasp. His dedication to the cause was unwavering, and he carried the weight of their mission with pride, though it left him with little time to rest.
