Chapter 2 – My Birth

Earth

Rena's POV

'Ugh, where am I... why is it so dark?' I pondered. 'No, it's not dark. My eyes... I can't open them. Even my mouth...' It took me a few minutes to accept the situation. Suddenly, I could hear a voice.

"Ha- on-." Though faint, I recognized it as a man's voice, likely an adult.

"Y- can- it! I'm- you!" The voice grew clearer.

'Now that I remember, I just used a reincarnation spell. And after that, those despicable deities—let's call them beings x. Being x used their authority to change the content of my spell. However, from what I recall, they only altered the destination of my reincarnation. It's regrettable I can't seek revenge, but I'll use this world as a substitute for my ambitions.' After contemplating for a moment, I resolved it was time for my birth.

"Come on, dear, just a little more!" The voice now spoke distinctly.

'Humph, peasant. It seems destiny has chosen you to be my parents in this life. Make my birth a grand one,' I thought to myself.

"Ugghhh!" A girl's voice struggled. "AAAAA...." And just like that, I was born into this world. The light was blinding, making my eyes hurt. I cried out, "UAAAA, UAAAA!"

'J-just a mere light dared to make me cry? H-how treacherous! Once I regain my power, I'll shroud this world in eternal darkness, perhaps with a crimson moon as decoration,' my thoughts declared. The man before me beamed with happiness; he was to be my father in this world.

"Honey, you did it! It's a girl! Our daughter!" He exclaimed joyfully, but his expression shifted in an instant. "Honey?... Honey? Can you hear me? Honey?!"

'Although my sense of life forms is a bit off after reincarnation, I should still sense her if it's this close. But I can't feel anything from that woman. Is she...' The next words confirmed my suspicion.

"The chances of death after childbirth are low, but it's unfortunate. I'm sorry for your loss," a man in a white robe said, placing a hand on my father's shoulder.

"She... died... Can't you do something, doc? Anything, please! She's everything to me... please..." My father pleaded, kneeling and clutching the man's coat.

'So my mother died, huh? What a... bad memory for me and my father. Wait no, bad?' I felt a pang in my heart. 'This is!...'

'It's been a while, but I remember. This is empathy, an emotion that I lost in my past lives. I guess, reincarnated means I lost that path huh. I somehow feel nostalgic...' my thoughts reflected.

"I'm sorry. There's nothing more I can do. This is reality," the man in white gently comforted, his hand on my father's back.

"No way..." My father uttered, his last words in that room.

Afterwards, my father brought me in his long, black carriage, and we made our way back to his home. Inside the carriage, I could hear him mumbling repeatedly about "If only you were not born," his words growing tiresome with each repetition. Along the journey, I caught a brief glimpse of several tall buildings surrounding us.

'So this is the world I've been reincarnated into? seems promising,' my thoughts remarked.

Upon arriving at what would soon become my new home, my father left me in the care of the servants without another glance.

'What a neglectful father. Not that I care anyway. I plan to grow stronger on my own terms. Being abandoned is just another day, much like my previous life,' I reflected.

'Hmm... the Qi in this world is far too thin! How ridiculous! Even someone as mighty as I am needs to exert such effort just to absorb a fraction of it! What a deception!' my thoughts exclaimed. 'For an ordinary cultivator within this feeble body, they would have given up long ago and resigned to a mundane existence!'

I sighed and began slowly absorbing the Qi from my surroundings. 'It appears that reaching even the mortal realm will be a long and arduous journey,' my thoughts concluded.
