Shinso took a step into his dorm, before turning around and opening it wider for me to take a step in as-well.
"This is my dorm, if something looks untouchable, it's untouchable."
He stated, approaching his bed before flopping onto it like he just ran a marathon. I stepped into the dorm, scanning everything inside it. The dorm was filled with pretty common items and pretty predictable stuff, except the bowl of cat food that laid in the right corner farthest from the screen door leading onto the balcony.
"You have a cat?"
I inquired, taking a step towards the bowl and shifting it slightly with my foot, Shinso perked up before answering.
"I don't, but there's a stray cat that likes to come by every once in a while, knowing my passionate love for cats, I opt to feed it."
I nodded, taking a step away from the bowl before laying my head on the desk below the flat screen television. I immediately looked at my hand afterwards, as it was now covered in a thin layer of dust.
"It's pretty dusty in here, you know."
I chuckled a little as I wiped my hand on the desk, causing the dust from the desk to flare up, glistening in the sunlight that shimmered dimly through the curtains.
"I know, but I don't care about that stuff."
Hitoshi answered, opening the nightstand drawer beside his desk and taking out a comic book, which was pretty large.
"Whatcha reading?"
Hitoshi peered at me above the inky pages, before answering shortly after.
"The newest issue of "The angel child who got transported to a different world to fulfill the lost prophecy."
I seemed off put by such the long title, such a long title would either belong to a romance manga or an isekai.
"I'm guessing it's an Isekai?"
Hitoshi nodded, holding the top left page of the book slightly before putting it on his bed, sitting up to meet my gaze, stretching his arms wide.
"Yeah, I'm really into that sort of thing, you?"
I nodded my head in a "no" fashion, which Hitoshi acknowledged.
"Then what do you like?"
I paused, thinking about that type of book I seemed to like, scraping the back of the barrels located on the back of my brain for answers.
"I'm not sure, I'm not really the reader type."
I managed to answer, my gaze meeting Hitoshi's. He just nodded before reopening the drawer beside his desk and taking out a series of more dusty, and old looking books. He tossed one in my direction, the hard cover read. "Philosophy for idiots."
"Philosophy for idiots?"
I questioned, a tiny smile tugging the corner of my lips, Hitoshi nodded as he opened his manga back up.
"You should try it, it gets your brain thinking."
I nodded slowly, falling back into the beanbag chair behind me, before I opened the book and started to read the incoherent blabbering inscribed on the first few pages, it mostly talking about the aspects of living, death, emotions and what makes one human.
"This book, it's interesting."
I stated, bringing it a little closer to myself, I heard Hitoshi say something else.
"Huh, I thought you'd just yawn and go to sleep after the first few words, while I read that for the first time, I actually fell asleep, which saved my schedule. I guess I should read that more often."
Hitoshi joked, letting out a playful and sarcastic yawn.
"Got homework?"
I asked him, Hitoshi perked up once again, lowering the book so I could see his whole face.
"Nah, I get it done in the bathroom, you?"
"No, luckily Mr. Aizawa went easy on us today."
He nodded, before going back to his book. I could feel the minutes feel like hours as I turned the pages and dwelled deeper into what felt like uncovering the truth behind my own existence.
"You really like that, huh."
Hitoshi's tired voice broke the silence, jolting my half asleep body awake.
"Yeah..."
I let out a tiny yawn, the sun has disappeared by now and there was no school in session tomorrow because it was a Saturday, and we only had a rest day on Sunday, and some holidays like Christmas.
Eventually, I felt my eyelids start to drop over my vision, as I succumbed to a slumber, inside a beanbag chair.
Hitoshi finally closed his book, letting out a tiny yawn before his eyes laid upon my sleeping form.
"Sleepy idiot."
He joked, grabbing one of the blankets on his bed and draping it over my body, he grabbed the book from my arms and put it on the desk under the television, before turning off the light-switch above my head, as the room was then draped in the veil of night.
Hitoshi crawled into bed, turning off the lamp beside his bed, as he closed his eyes and fell into a slumber, just like me.
