Chapter 14

The next few days of school following that incident were pretty similar to Saturday, Mr. Aizawa continued to teach us about the implications of being a "quirkless hero" and using what the heroes learn in our everyday lives, regardless of if we actually have powers.

"What we do as heroes isn't defined by our abilities, but how we use them. But don't look at powers in a way, look at our strengths and weaknesses. How do you use your strengths in your everyday life, what do your weaknesses do to veil those strengths?"

Mr. Aizawa rambled on, drawing various diagrams on the board in front of him. I listened not as intently as on Saturday, but still tried my best to pay as much attention as a normal person should.

"Now tell me, why don't the user's abilities define who they are?"

A student's hand shot up.

"It's their goals, motivations and everything they want to do with their powers."

Mr. Aizawa nodded, writing down a small summary of what she said in a bubble.

"It's what they want to do with their quirk."

The chalk written words danced across the dark green board. Mr. Aizawa then turned back towards the class, but was interrupted by the phone ringing.

His attention was grabbed towards the phone, as he walked over and lifted it towards his ear.

"Hello?"

The classroom fell dead silent, only the almost intelligible voice of the other person was heard, and the common "mhm" from Mr. Aizawa.

After about a good 2 minutes he put the phone down and look back towards the class, his eyes particularly locked on me.

"Isaac, the principal needs to speak with you."

I felt my gut sink as he said that, what if I secretly did something wrong? What if rumors have been spreading about me? What if someone knows about what happened at the park?

I put all those questions aside and silently stood up, nodding towards Mr. Aizawa before leaving the room.

The hallways were silent, only the distant squeaking of shoes echoed through them, I looked at the names on the doors lining both sides of the hallway, before opening my backpack and taking out the small map that was included in the "new student package".

"So I need to take 2 lefts, then 3 rights."

I silently observed as I scanned the paper, mapping out exactly where I needed to go.

I then folded the small sheet and put it back into my pocket before pressing on. Eventually the large set of 2 doors was in front of me, the large metal name tag; Principal Nezu was held to the door, which made me a little intimidated.

I carefully opened the door, but my expression turned from timid to a little shocked as I saw the small white creature sitting at the desk where the principal should be.

He looked like a cross between a beaver, weasel, a dog and a mouse, decked out in luscious white fur.

"Hello Mr. Daniel's, we have a little thing to talk about."

I was washed over with relief upon hearing his voice, it was gentle and warm, unlike my previous principals who had a more intimidating voice and overall stoic aura.

I sat down on the chair across from Nezu, before he spoke up.

"I want to talk to you about your quirk."

I was immediately puzzled, my quirk, I don't have one.

"My quirk...I don't have a quirk, Principal Nezu."

I proclaimed, leaning in a little closer. Principal Nezu simply nodded, as he pulled out a small device, which had a large black screen covering the surface of it.

He turned it on, and it was a security capture of Hitoshi's room, in full color.

"You have security cameras all over I'm guessing."

I admired, watching my sleeping form on the screen, only more curious about what he meant by a quirk.

My eyes widened in astonishment as I watched a tiny ball start to glow in the center of my chest, radiating with a tiny, red light.

"Wow...when was this?"

I asked.

He replied, watching the footage with me, he also had a face of curiosity and wonder.

"That was when I had that dream about the cardinal."

The footage then came to a halt as the footage went dark.

"So, your quirk only seems to activate when you're asleep, doesn't it?"

"I'm completely unaware."

Principal Nezu fell silent for a few seconds as he stared into his coffee mug.

"Well, what if we can get it to work while you're awake?"
