The next morning when the sun just started to grace the Cardigon Mountains, we were already at the crime scene, looking for any possible evidence.
"You said we're a secret organization, why are we out in the open?"
Shinso asked, running his fingers through the brownish dirt below his feet. One of the members, a woman with long black hair that ran down to her shoulders, walked over to him.
"Well, we're secret when we want to be."
She said, bending down and picking up a tiny pile of dirt, before inhaling it. Her eyes suddenly turned an illusory blue as the rest of the dirt surrounding her seemed to circle around her like a tiny tornado.
Shinso watched in astonishment as the particles of dirt began to move in a path in the chair, gracing over the rooftops and settling in a specific spot.
She pushed up her glasses before jumping up onto the roof, the same blue energy releasing from her boots like a rocket, and landing onto the roof with a soft pat.
"G-guys?"
Her voice suddenly turned a bit fearful as she peeked her head over the gutter, we all looked up at her.
"Yeah?"
Aaron asked, covering his brows with his hands to stop the early intruding sunlight. She waved her hand and a small typhoon of blue energy began to surface on the ground. When it eventually subsided, a strange, hollowed object laid on the ground.
"What is that thing?"
I walked over to approach the object but Aizawa quickly stopped me by putting his arm out. Aaron and Aizawa then walked over to the object, before Aaron laid his hand onto it, closing his eyes.
"Oh no..."
He mumbled under his breath, taking a few steps back and looking the thing up and down.
"That's not an artifact or anything, it's a...person."
Just as he declared that, it seemed like a few clouds rolled in over us, to convey and add to the already surprised atmosphere.
"A person?"
I asked, plugging my nose to prevent the smell of the rotting corpse which had started to surface.
"Yes, this body looks like he died months ago, but the residual energy I sense from his corpse indicates he died...last night.
"H-how? He must have had something pretty bad happen to him."
Aaron nodded softly, before laying his hands onto the corpse and closing his eyes, but all of ours widened when the corpse started to twitch, like it was alive and breathing.
"W-what are you doing?!"
Officer Palau asked, gripping his gun in his hands loosely, in case anything would happen. When Aaron opened his eyes, the corpse's body started to move like a zombie, twisting around like a worm on a dry day.
"What the hell?"
Aizawa backed up as the corpse came to life, standing on its 2 legs. We all watched as its dried and dark skin started to grow lighter, and back to its previous tan color, and its dull, lifeless eyes suddenly gained a puff of color and saturation.
"W-where am I?"
The now repaired figure's voice was filled with concern and fear, as he grabbed a pocket knife from his pocket and fearfully swung it around at us.
Aaron took a step back, before raising his pointer finger, thumb and middle finger and pointing at the man.
As soon as this gesture made way, a strange moon symbol on his forehead started glowing a bright purple color, and cracks started to form on his face as he was wearing a translucent mask concealing his true features.
"Aaron?"
The woman asked, jumping down from the rooftop and landing next to him, putting a hand on his shoulder, only for him to shove it away.
"I need to focus."
His voice was dead serious as he started to tighten his grip around his hands, turning them into knuckles with his 3 fingers still outstretched.
"Aaron!"
The man let out a deafening yell as he fell to his knees and held his head as if he was having a migraine, only for his eyes to roll back and he fell unconscious.
The man's veins returned to normal and the moon symbol in his forehead disappeared. Aaron took a step back, looking confused as he he just woke up.
"What was that, are you ok?"
She asked, her voice now more gentle, Aaron simply nodded with a smile while rubbing his temple, his eyes half closed.
"I'm fine...take this fellow back to our headquarters, we have to talk with him."
