They were summoned, earlier than scheduled. Once a month the four siblings were required to meet up with their mother to solve issues the people on the island couldn't handle themselves. Being called on ahead of time meant there was somethibg important to discuss. Aeon stayed in a lavish estate in the centre of the island. It was the one place you were guaranteed to see all four of her children at the same time. Otherwise it was a very rare sighting.
The estate, three stories high. The top floor consisted of five master bedrooms, one of them being her own. The second story had ten guest rooms all ensuites. All entertainment amenities were on the first floor the kitchen, dining room, living room, movie theatre, a private office a few bathrooms and the ballroom which doubled as her throne room. Two thrones in the center of the stage, two to the right and two more to the left hand side. Evenly spaced. The throne room was where they usually held the monthly audience with citizens. But Aeon's private office was where they discussed more confidential matters.
Most times when seen out in public on official business her children were required to wear a uniform. The uniforms made from breathable fabric easy to move in, pants with vests and shirts. They sometimes would wear a blazer over the top but during formal events it was suits and gowns. Most times they wore their robes with a hood that was always drawn over their heads concealing their faces. Each had their own colour, relating to them an their abilities.
Purple for the oldest Gale of the North. Where all can find their way on the whisper of the winds as a guide. Blue for the second eldest Banzai of the South, where the strongest sea currents are found. White for Leora of the East, where the first light of every day arises. Black for Arius of the West, where the sun finally rests and in darkness he thrives. As for the mother of time Aeon, Green was her colour, she always had different styled dresses and all outfits had Gold intricate designs along the hems all the same, it signified the protectors of the island.
Each child born from Aeons line were given gifts or abilities as they called them, these abilities helped to keep the island and their people safe. The island was big enough to house four more estates much like Aeons, hers of course was the only one with thrones and was located in the center of the island. The others to the North South, East and West coasts belonging to her children tasked to protect either side of the island, hence the rarity of all four being together in the same place.
Although they protected the island, their main priority was actually the protection of their mother. For she possessed the power of time itself. Every so many years people showed up, some castaways, some just travelling the seas and find the island by accident. Some lucky to remain, some never living to see the land, others come seeking Myths and Lengends!, youth, immortality, to bring back things they had lost, even foolish enough to think if they killed Aeon they could steal her power.
Wielding time sometimes gives her visions, if she ever were to dig into time for personal use it would take from her own lifespan something she learned in her earlier years. Since she has harnessed her power, it's like time froze for her. But great power always comes at a great price, all abilities held a consequence as if to keep the weilder from abusing it. Nobody really knew why or how they got these abilities, all they knew with was with time all would be revealed.
"We must prepare!" Aeon says ominously. Pulling Leora from her daze. "Ma you know we don't like when you speak in riddles." She whined, "So please say it in a way we understand without having to decipher it". She pleaded. "Leora, As impatient as ever! You already know things happen as they're meant to and are revealed when it's their time". Scolded Gale. Oh! How Leora loved her sister Gale, shes quite a stickler for the rules. Can't blame her being the oldest and all but Leora just wished for once she would. Let up.
"Arius 3months time some guests will arrive I wish for you to let them dock" Aeon carrys on as if nothing was said, again pulling Leora back to reality. "Banzai I require the seas to be come on that day, they hold precious cargo". Banzai just gave a stiff nod towards his mother, Aeon smiled brightly she had favoured him and his eldest sister since they were well behaved since young.
Things usually played out like this, Aeon would say something ominous address some or all of them. Leora would say something, or in everyone elses eyes she would complain. Gale would scold her and Banzai would sit and nod in agreement. Arius the youngest of the four though attentive, would never give any indication that he was listening. His 6ft tall muscular frame built like a bear usually earned him his right to silence, nobody could approach him unless he wanted and he was known as the most ruthless of the bunch. But he would always do his part regardless.
The last part is what stunned them all when their mother said. "You must all strip your disguises more often in the next two months and mingle with our people, some issues cannot be resolved monthly." They were all gaping like fish, they were rarely allowed to be out undisguised. Once or twice a month during festivities they could go out without uniform and pretend to be normal citizens those moments were cherished.
When on duty their powers were constantly in use it changed their eyes and hair colour. When their disguises were shed all people would see was brown eyes and black hair, they looked like very toned villagers except Arius he had to dye his natural hair different colours since he would look the same.
Leora giggled to herself which of course earned her a glare from her sister. Whom she thinks never questions anyone but her. Leora was viewed more as the reckless one due to her playful demeanor. Her elder siblings believed she was impulsive, never stopping to think enough, they failed to realise Leora always analysed situations a million times before she made a move. She would only act aloof when she knew she could. Of course her mother knew this Aeon knew all of them before they were born. The other person who knew was Arius, they were closest of the siblings like yin and yang.
Aeon had a vision of Leora and Arius once and it almost destroyed her, basically she saw one of die and the other spiral out of control through guilt. She blocks any visions pertaining to her childrens deaths, she never speaks of it, the events in the past now but it took a lot out of her watching it all happen thats when they learned about the consequences of altering time for personal gain. They had all lost something that day, Arius hasn't spoken much since then. Despite that they're still a close family and this place it's their home, this is Nova!
