Soren made his way to the guest room. He decided to pay their guest a visit before breakfast because he needed some answers from him.
The door opened on its own before Soren could knock. Avalon raised an amusing brow at him as he lazily leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed across his chest. He was dressed in his nightgown, his hair messed up, he scanned Soren from head to toe.
"You're late," he remarked, innocently blinking at a perplexed Soren. "I waited for you all night, disrupted my beauty sleep. You know how important it is for my glowing skin?" He stepped away from the door rolling his eyes, allowing Soren to enter.
"So you already know I'll be here. Now, if you already know why I'm here, let's get right to the point." Soren let out a sigh, entering inside, the hairs on his hand at the sudden cold.
"I know," Avalon answered as he strode up to the sofa and sat down. Soren averted his eyes toward the darkness in the room and closed the curtains. "Why did Shilister send me? Why didn't he inform you before my arrival? Why is he so obsessed with Zale's health when he's not making him Alpha? Why does Zale not improve despite the drug you gave him Shilister asked you to give him? Why dogs don't fly, why cats can't bark blah blah blah!"
Soren stood still as he stared at him in shock.
"Who are you, and how did you know about the drugs?" Soren yelled angrily. Shilsiter gave him the drug, and it worked like magic on Zale's health. However, it abruptly stopped working after a few months, making it nearly impossible for Soren to tame Zale. It was an agreement between Soren and Shilister, and no one else was aware of it. "Did Shilister tell you about it himself?"
"He did not." Avalon stood up and walked over to Soren while playfully grinning, he dangerously got close to Soren's face and leaned towards his ear, tickling his earlobe with his breath. "Let me tell you a secret to pique your interest. I was not sent by your Alpha." He bites him amusingly.
Soren's eyes widened in shock and he pushed him away, face twisting in disgust.
"What the hell are you doing?!" Soren yelled and Avalon laughed at his reaction, eyes filled with mischief.
"God, You're so cute." Avalon wiped his tears while Soren glared at him.
"Shut the hell up and tell me who you are before I bring out the answer from your throat by myself. I know you're anything but a doctor." Soren warned him infuriatingly.
White pale skin with a silly smile on his red lips, Avalon took a step forward and looked straight into Soren's eyes.
"I'm surprised you didn't figure it out sooner. Didn't the temperature in the mansion drop unexpectedly?" Avalon cocked his head, his gaze moving down Soren's face.
"So, it was because of you," Soren grabbed his collar, eyes burning in anger. He felt it too, now and earlier too.
Avalon frivolously beams at him, "Oh, don't be so furious, your blood gives away a ravenous smell when you get mad."
Soren's eyes narrowed in suspicion, "What the heck are you?"
"Lemme have a taste of your blood first just a bit I promise and I'll tell you everything." he shamelessly licked his lips.
Soren fell silent, he felt the cold coming from him, "You're a vampire?" He let out.
"Bingo." The vampire beams and jumps. "However, I am currently a doctor, so you should treat me well and respect me because doctors are gods who save lives." He says it solemnly, tugging on his fake tie.
"And don't worry, I'm not a threat to you or Zale because no one in particular had sent me. And how I found out about the drug and your deal with Shilister, so let me reveal a second secret to you. I'm the official doctor who's in charge of preparing the medication for Zale and gave it to Shilister as per his order, who then gave it to you." He said this, but Soren didn't believe him.
"Like hell, I'll believe you," Soren exclaimed, but glad that now he at least knows who made the drug.
"You don't have any other choice. But it's up to you to believe me or not." Avalon shrugged without any care.
"Who exactly are you?" Soren raised a questioning brow at him. Avalon took a deep breath before his face turned serious.
"I don't think I need to keep anything a secret from you any longer now that the cat is out of the bag and you have revealed my identity. You're quite quick by the way, as I've heard of you the only tiger shifter in the pack. I'm delighted you didn't let me down." Avalon grinned as he went on. "I'm a doctor, you see. And life was going smoothly for me, work, unlimited blood, sex, everything was good. One day after work, when I went to a bar and picked a boy who attracted my attention, I had no idea that he was a werewolf. Perhaps he was using an inhibitor to hide his scent."
Soren scrunched up his nose in disgust.
"Hey, don't give me that look. A guy somehow needs to take out his frustration from working hard the whole day."
"Get to the point." Soren let out annoyingly.
"Well, the point is that he stole my pendant while I was sleeping and was nowhere to be found when I awoke. I inquired at the hotel, and they informed me that he left early in the morning. The pendant is very important to me because it has a key attached to it that helps to stabilise my powers. I can't keep a proper grip on them without it." Avalon explained, and Soren had never seen him so generous before.
"Continue," Soren nods for him to keep going.
"God you are so desperate, you don't even feel bad for me," Avalon whined in a low voice. "After some investigation, I found out that he belongs to this pack. Now I want you to help me find him and get my pendant back."
Soren eyed him like he was looking at some idiot, "And why will I do that?"
"Why not?!
"There are more than three thousand members in this pack, how am I supposed to find him? And let's say that I found him for you, then what? What am I getting out of this?"
"Free help for Zale." Avalon lets out which exceeds Soren's attention. Anything related to Zale is enough to pique his curiosity. "That pendant of mine is capable of sucking out the contentious energy out of anyone and his reaction from last night tells me he's full of it. He's chained somewhere between his conscience like how he shows but something about his behaviour tells me that there is more to him that you and I don't know."
Soren didn't quite understand his words, "What do you mean?"
Avalon wanted to point out some things, but he knew Soren wasn't ready to listen to anything against Zale, so he checked the water.
"Nothing, but I'd like to hear your thoughts," Avalon observed Soren's every expression. "Zale is like an untethered animal. Why are you wasting your time with him? He doesn't even consider you as a person with feelings; he treats you like a nonliving toy, crying and throwing tantrums whenever you're not in his hands like the stupid child that he is."
"Shut Your fucking mouth before I plucked out your tongue," Soren growled, ready to attack if Avalon didn't shut soon.
"Oh, sorry for saying mean....but...accurate and true things." Avalon raised both his hands in surrender. "All I am saying is that you should start to pay more attention to his behaviour and maybe you'll find the roots of it. Who knows you'll even find out that he's probably playing you."
Not wanting to hear any more of his nonsense, Soren turned ready to leave. Avalon followed him, clinging to his shoulder.
"Is that a yes? Will you help me?" Avalon kept on pestering him as they made their way to the dining room.
Soren scoffs, waving him off, "Only if you shut your mouth and," He abruptly stops and turns, making Avalon halt too in surprise. "If I found out even a single fault within you or that you have lied to me and turned out to be a threat to Zale or anyone else, you're going to die a painful death. Because I'm sure you have already sensed how sensitive I am when it comes to Zale or any harm towards him. So, you better watch your actions."
"All right, thank you so much. You're the best!" Avolon jumps as he celebrates, ignoring Soren's threat and only focusing on his agreement. Soren looked weirdly at the chaotic creature dancing in front of him.
As they reach the dining table. A certain someone with severe anger issues was waiting for his caretaker who was supposed to be present there before him. But since the caretaker couldn't be seen the first thing when he arrived there, it enraged Zale.
He kept on glaring at his plate without blinking, that no maid dared to go near him and serve him food. And from his last night's outburst, his reputation took a hit but he cared less about it. He doesn't give a damn who thinks what about him unless they're Soren.
He looked up with his fresh face and dark eyes that were filled with bitterness when he heard nonstop giggles and talking that was purely one-sided.
However, from Zale's point of view, the people who just arrived were both happily enjoying their chats like good old friends who met after a long time. He grits his jaw in hostility and feels a sharp pain in his wound right after, the pain makes his nerves excited, and he grits them more tightly which calms him down a little.
His fucked up mind raced with ideas about what he should do to stop Soren from going near anyone or talking so happily.
"Good morning," Soren greeted everyone, their eyes met for a few brief seconds but Zale didn't say anything before he went back to glare at the poor plate. Soren felt a tinge in his chest but he ignored it.
Frank smiles and greets him and Avalon while serving food to Zale, the only one who's daring enough to go near him.
"Here, sit," Avalon pulled out a chair for Soren to show his gratitude like the gentleman he is. Before Soren could speak out his disagreement because his seat belonged next to Zale they all heard a harsh noise and looked at Zale.
Zale continued to scratch his fork around his plate while his eyes were filled with rage. He refused to stop the unpleasant sound and made it his mission to make it even worse and more hurtful to the ears.
Not liking the fact that Soren came out with Avalon when Soren should have been waiting for him, and now Soren is even daring to change seats, Zale grows a deep dislike for Avalon.
Everyone frowned at the piercing noise, which seemed to threaten their hearing. Soren sighed and took this as his cue to return to his rightful place, by Zale's side, where he belonged. He thanked Avalon and politely declined him, settling next to Zale.
"How's your face?" Soren asked carefully, his voice filled with worry.
He waited and waited but received no response. He rolled his eyes at Zale's tantrum, upon giving him the silent treatment when Soren had no idea what he had done wrong.
He always thought he'd figured out how to deal with Zale's bipolar ass, but Zale's sudden mood swings always got the best of him.
