Clara: I'm here to stay

"Behave yourself, Clara; I won't tolerate your insolence, not towards my daughter." Her dad spoke calmly, yet his voice betrayed his anger.

"Really? Now you both want to dump me because I'm no longer useful, right? Go ahead and say the word, and I will gladly accept it." Clara chuckled, wiping her tears with the back of her palm.

"Don't you dare play the victim card on us, Clara! We all know who the real victim is. I only asked you to treat her like a sister, but what did you do? You heartlessly turned my own daughter into a rag in her own parents' house! I'm fed up, Clara; I'm tired, Clara. I can't take this anymore. If you can't stand being around my daughter, then I won't stop you from leaving." Clara sniffed again, trying to prevent her tears from streaming down, but they fell anyway.
