Chapter 33 Kaido: Go Ahead And Do It, Laozi Will Support You

"Since you're so strong, why are you still locked up here, frustrated and powerless?"

This question made Yamato stop in her tracks.

Her face flushed with embarrassment, and she hesitated for a long time before responding. Eventually, she retreated to a corner, sulking alone.

Carlos smiled slightly and began sharing stories of his sea adventures. Some were true, but others were fabricated.

Despite this, Yamato's interest was piqued. Although she remained huddled in the corner with her knees drawn to her chest, she listened intently, her ears perked up.

After about an hour of storytelling, Carlos suddenly became more serious.

"After so many years of wandering the seas and meeting countless strong individuals, only Kaido and Kozuki Oden stand out as the most powerful."

"Oden?"

Yamato's eyes widened. "Hey, you know Kozuki Oden too!"

She rushed over to the bars of her cell, grabbing them with both hands, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

Carlos was momentarily taken aback by her reaction. It was no wonder Kaido had such a headache—Yamato's obsession with Oden was intense. But at least it made things easier for Carlos.

"Yes, I once met Oden at sea and we briefly partnered up."

"Even though I'm now a prominent member of the Beasts Pirates, I still admire Oden greatly."

Yamato scratched her head in confusion. "Ah! I recognize you now! I've read Oden's diary! You must have been a member of the Whitebeard Pirates before, right?"

Carlos simply smiled and said nothing.

After a moment of excitement, Yamato's enthusiasm waned. "By the way, since you were Oden's partner, will you let me out now?"

"That's not possible. If I let you out, Boss Kaido will definitely have my head," Carlos explained.

Yamato shouted in frustration. "Coward! Don't you want to avenge Oden?"

"Revenge for Oden?" Carlos chuckled, then asked seriously, "Are you sure you can defeat Kaido?"

"Of course—"

Yamato was about to respond confidently, but under Carlos's intense gaze, she lowered her head and admitted quietly, "No…"

Carlos sighed. "Since you're the heir to the Beasts Pirates, why not make use of your position?"

Yamato frowned, anger rising. "You mean to ask me to bow to these people? Absolutely not! They did so much harm to Kozuki Oden and took over Wano. They're all terrible people!"

Carlos sneered. "Foolish."

"Kaido is training you to be his successor. If you're willing, he will spare no effort to teach you. From Devil Fruits to famous swords and treasures, you can have it all. Isn't it more practical to use these resources to become stronger than to sit here in a cell and dream?"

"How can you achieve greatness if you can't endure a little hardship?"

Yamato was at a loss for words and didn't know how to counter his arguments.

"But associating with these villains…"

Carlos shook his head. "Power isn't evil; it's merely a tool to achieve your goals. If you can truly defeat Kaido and take control of the Beasts Pirates, you'll be in a position to reform them or set out on an adventure like Oden did."

After some persuasion, although Yamato felt uneasy, she couldn't refute Carlos's logic.

"Brother Carlos, what should I do now?"

"Pretend to apologize to your father and show him your determination to become the ruler of Wano," Carlos advised.

After hearing Carlos's report, Kaido was initially skeptical but quickly went to the cell.

Seeing Yamato's apparent change of heart, Kaido was overjoyed and even wiped away tears of excitement.

He rewarded Carlos with treasure worth 500 million beli and summoned all the members of the Beasts Pirates for a grand celebration.

The banquet served to both celebrate Yamato's change of heart and introduce her as the Beasts Pirates' successor.

During the banquet, Kaido, in his drunken state, proudly introduced Yamato to everyone.

Yamato followed Carlos's advice and requested a sum of two billion beli from Kaido on the spot, claiming she needed it to form an army of Zoan users to enhance the Beasts Pirates' reputation.

Kaido agreed without hesitation. In fact, he had already considered this idea.

However, when Quinn, who was performing on stage, mentioned that they were out of money, Kaido's mood soured.

"Out of money? Are you kidding me?" Kaido's eyes grew cold, and a menacing aura spread throughout the room, silencing the celebratory atmosphere.

Quinn wiped his brow nervously. "Most of the seastone weapons we produced were sold to countries like Talon Kingdom and Tulip Kingdom. Recently, several pirate groups responsible for bridging operations were either destroyed or absorbed by Whitebeard, leading to a loss of contact with those non-affiliated countries. We still have unsold stock and a backlog of new weapons, but we truly can't gather two billion beli."

"Damn Whitebeard!"

Listening to Quinn's explanation, Kaido seethed with anger. Despite the years, he still feared Whitebeard, known as the world's strongest man. Their past encounters had shown him just how formidable Whitebeard was.

Carlos stood up abruptly. "Boss Kaido, if we don't resolve this soon, our financial stability might collapse. We need to find new partners urgently!"

Kaido nodded, turning his attention to Jhin and Quinn. Quinn was crucial for his scientific expertise and intellect, but his frivolous personality was a drawback. Jhin, on the other hand, was loyal and strong, but his current tasks were critical for managing Onigashima's numerous affairs.

Considering this, Kaido looked at Carlos. Although he had only recently joined, Carlos had demonstrated exceptional ability and resolve.

Having dealt with a long-standing issue, Kaido made his decision.

"Alright!"

"Carlos, I'm entrusting this matter to you!"

"I'll send you five thousand subordinates and goods worth two billion beli. Your tasks are twofold: First, find stable and reliable buyers for these weapons and establish long-term trade relationships. Second, acquire a batch of Zoan Devil Fruits, preferably ancient ones. Use any means necessary—negotiation or even robbery—to complete the mission. If you encounter difficulties, just ask; I'll support you!"

Carlos nodded confidently. "Don't worry, Boss Kaido. I've got it all covered."
