Chapter 85 Transforming Kaido? Sudden Uninvited Guest

"You... you opened the Master Ball?"

Hearing the commotion, Vegapunk quickly put down what he was working on and turned to look at Carlos.

"Oh, it's you, Carlos. You startled me." He patted his chest with a strange expression.

"Are you talking about this?" He gestured toward the Master Ball. "How could you expect to understand the secrets of space technology by just studying its outer shell? Of course, I had to open it."

He said this so casually that Carlos couldn't help but twitch the corner of his mouth. He took a deep breath, trying to suppress his shock.

"I mean, how could you open it? This thing is..."

It wasn't his fault for being so rattled. The Master Ball was a system reward, tightly bound to him. Outsiders shouldn't even be able to use it, let alone open it.

While Carlos knew Vegapunk was no ordinary man, he never expected something this extreme.

Vegapunk nodded, about to respond when a small figure beside him suddenly spoke up.

"Although this creation you call the Master Ball contains advanced space-folding technology, the materials used are quite ordinary. I've been cautious not to damage its internal structure, trying all sorts of safe methods for the past month. Unfortunately, all failed."

The kid paused, then added, "However, after a few days of research, I discovered a strange connection between the Master Ball and you."

The kid then grinned and continued, "Oh, I forgot to introduce myself. I'm one of Vegapunk's clones, Punk-3, Edison, representing thought."

Carlos frowned. "And then what?"

Vegapunk jumped in, explaining, "When I visited Marineford, I managed to acquire a strand of your hair with some... help. By extracting the life factor from it, I was able to unlock the Master Ball."

Carlos' face darkened immediately.

He quickly recalled that at the time, Vegapunk had been accompanied by Green Bull, Fujitora, one of the Five Elders, and a group of CP0 agents responsible for security. It must have been one of the CP0 agents, under Saint Saturn's orders.

But now wasn't the time to dwell on that. There would be time to settle accounts later.

Carlos glanced around the room. "So... you didn't secretly create a batch of clones of me, did you?"

Vegapunk waved his hand dismissively. "No, no. One hair doesn't provide enough life factors for that. But if you were willing to... you know, 'contribute' more to science—"

"Don't even think about it," Carlos cut in coldly. His tone turned icy. "I'm warning you. Don't get any ideas about me. Even with the World Government backing you, you'll regret ever coming into this world if you try."

Vegapunk, clearly intimidated, shrank back and nervously muttered, "Okay, okay... But... imagine how powerful a clone of you would be..."

Before he could finish, the sharp glare from Carlos silenced him, making him obediently close his mouth.

Carlos turned his attention to the opened Master Ball on the operating table, suddenly struck by an important thought.

"Since you've opened it, how much damage did you do?"

Vegapunk waved off the concern. "Relax. It's fine. The... thing inside is being held in a Seastone Gravity Chamber."

"A Seastone Gravity Chamber?" Carlos echoed, his curiosity piqued.

At that moment, a small girl and a robot walked into the room.

The girl, no taller than a child, said calmly, "Yes. A special containment cell made from 100% pure Seastone, capable of generating gravity up to twenty times normal."

She continued, "For additional safety, it's equipped with fifty Gauss energy pulse weapons, an electric shock system that delivers up to 400 million volts, and a nerve gas capable of knocking out Sea Kings."

The sight of the cute little girl explaining such terrifying weapons with a calm demeanor caused a bead of sweat to roll down Ain's forehead. She was left speechless.

Vegapunk smiled, gesturing toward the newcomers. "These are two more of my clones—Pythagoras, representing wisdom, and Atlas, representing fury."

After introducing the two clones, Vegapunk continued:

"Carlos, after reflecting on your ideas, I thought about it carefully after I came here."

"While the artificial Devil Fruits aren't 100% perfect, their imperfections can still be beneficial in certain situations."

"So, I've created another batch of artificial Devil Fruits. One of them replicates Marine Admiral Fujitora's Paramecia Gravity Fruit."

"Given that Kaido escaped and destroyed the lab, causing significant losses, we must take the highest precautions this time."

Ain wiped the cold sweat from her forehead, and after a moment of collecting herself, finally calmed her nerves.

She glanced curiously at Pythagoras and Edison and couldn't help but ask, "The girl who attacked us earlier, and these three—are they all your clones?"

Vegapunk nodded. "Yes, there are six of them in total. To manage the large amount of scientific research, I split parts of my consciousness to create them."

"That's incredible... to think such a thing is even possible," Ain muttered, still in awe.

Carlos, who had been listening silently, suddenly had a bold thought.

"I have a question. Can you... modify or erase Kaido's consciousness?"

Vegapunk hesitated for a moment before responding slowly, "I can't add or modify consciousness directly, but I can extract or isolate certain emotions or memories—those tied to evil, desire, justice, and more."

As he spoke, Vegapunk seemed to catch on to Carlos' intention. "Wait... you're not thinking of..."

Carlos nodded. "Yes, I want you to erase Kaido's consciousness. And just like you did with your clones, transfer part of my consciousness into his body."

"If we go through with this, are there any side effects?" Carlos asked cautiously.

Vegapunk chuckled lightly. "Who do you think I am?"

"Don't worry. This technology is already advanced. You've heard of Bartholomew Kuma from the Seven Warlords of the Sea, right? He's currently undergoing one of my transformation experiments."

"In order to perfectly combine flesh, blood, and machinery, and turn him into a war machine, the first step was to extract his memories and emotions."

As Vegapunk explained, he suddenly turned toward Pythagoras and Atlas. "Speaking of which, weren't you two working on that energy transformation project? Why are you here?"

The two clones exchanged a glance, suddenly remembering their mission. "We were installing a mechanical device when a man in a cloak suddenly broke into the lab..."

Just then, a cold, chilling voice echoed from the corridor outside.

"War weapons? Erasing memories?"

A tall man in a cloak slowly approached, his presence radiating an intense, heart-stopping killing intent.

Behind him stood a massive figure—half man, half machine, with mechanical parts covering its body. The figure was fearsome and terrifying.

Carlos' eyes widened in shock.

"You... you're Monkey D. Dragon?!"
