Plummeting

For some moments, everybody was mesmerized as they stared at Blockhead with confused faces.

"Stop it!"

An angry voice resounded from the back.

Blockhead seized firing and turned in the direction of the sound. Seeing that it was Lynn who was shouting at him, he glowered.

"Why didn't you shout at the idiot that took our boss hostage a while ago. If somebody could have seen you that moment, the person could have easily concluded that you were dumb"

Blockhead said with exasperation as his face turned red.

"Your actions take after your nickname. Your mum could have named you appropriately."

Lynn spatted with a grim expression.

"This isn't a joking matter; the idiot might have killed the subject alongside our boss with his aimless firing. If I find out that the boss is dead or injured in any way, I would be forced to throw this idiot off the plane next time we take a flight"

Jade said with a hateful face.

The moment Blockhead heard this, he gasped and almost slid off the plane but quickly supported himself by clinging on a rail along the corridor. In the next moment, he pulled himself and approached the group as a grim expression surfaced his reddened chubby face.

"Bring back my firearm"

Rey said as he grabbed the firearm from Blockhead.

"Now that your firearm is gone, you can use this"

Rey said as he extended his arm with the firearm towards Jade.

After lingering for a moment, Jade's lips curled upwards and formed a smirk as he outstretched his hand and took the fire arm.

The moment Blockhead saw Jade take the firearm, he quickly moved and hid at the back of Rey.

When the group noticed this, they burst into laughter excluding Jade who maintained a serious face as he looked in the direction of the hiding guy.

Peeking from Rey's back, Blockhead looked nervous.

"Hiding behind my back won't save you because I already swore to deal with you the moment you snatched the firearm from me"

Rey said with scorn. Suddenly, the group burst into laughter once again.

At this moment, Blockhead grew helpless as he retreated further from the group.

"Hey guys, this is not the moment of jokes. We need to start the tracing process of our boss."

Jade said with a serious expression.

"We first need to ask the pilot to check the map and tell us the location the two jumped off the plane"

Lynn interjected and quickly headed to the cockpit.

"That would help us in tracing his whereabouts. And even if that fails, I have another plan."

Rey said with a complicated look.

Plummeting in the sky with wind whistling in his ears, Jean felt nervous and closed his eyes tightly. He was afraid to look at the height that he was falling from. The only thing that made him cling to his sanity was the fact that he was plummeting with Marr. And since Marr knew how to use the parachute, he had high hopes of surviving.

Suddenly, Jean quickly opened one of his eyes and peeked at Marr who was facing him from the top. He had sensed that the guy might develop an idea of disjoining Jean from himself. And since he was the one putting on the parachute, he could be sure of surviving as he left Jean to fall and die.

'I must keep an eye on him for the sake of my safety'

Jean thought internally.

The parachute that the two were using was developed with the load capacity that can accommodate two people that's why it had extension belts for a second person.

It was just lucky for Jean that Raff brought the right parachute for the two of them, else it could have taken some time for him to order him to bring a suitable one, incase he would have brought the normal one. And who knows, Rey and Jade could have caught up with him before he could jump off the plane.

'I feel a little bit lucky…'

With that thought in mind, Jean opened all of his eyes and shifted the firearm to Marr's forehead. At this point, it could have been difficult for him to hold the gun in place as the two were not that stable during their fall, but he only did that to impart fear in Marr.

He had several reasons to why he had to jump off the plane with Marr. One of the reasons was to prevent others from hurting him and the other reason was to interrogate Marr and find out the reason to why him and his group had kidnapped him.

Finding the answer to his question could have been somewhat difficult, considering the fact that, Marr was the leader of the group, and there must be higher chances that he had accumulated enough experience in this job, to the extent that he could easily come up with mischievous schemes and plans, for him to evade revealing the exact reason for Jean's kidnap.

Immediately Jean placed the firearm on Marr's forehead, Marr let out a dark smile. He looked calmer than before. The moment Jean noticed this, he shuddered.

"Why are you smiling? Do I look like a joke to you?"

Jean asked two questions in succession and frowned.

"What do we call this? Just tell me the reason why you think the firearm can scare me?"

Marr said with a raised brow.

"It can kill you!"

Jean blurted as his frown deepened, turning into a scowl.

"What about you?"

Marr asked enthusiastically.

This was the moment Jean realized that something was amiss with his decision of pointing a firearm at Marr.

'If I kill him, I will die too, since he is the one with the parachute and the only one who know how and when to use it.'

Jean thought feverishly.

As if answering Jean's thoughts, Marr resounded,

"If I die, you die too. Remember, I am the only one who can use the parachute"

Marr said with a grin.

The moment Jean heard this, instead of panicking, he let out a wicked smile and glanced at Marr.

The moment Marr saw this unexpected reaction from Jean, he was dazed for a moment.

"So, you believed my lies, I must say I am a champion of liars. First, I deceived you that I trusted you when I knew very well that you are my real enemies. And now, you have fallen for my lies once again."

Pausing for a moment, Jean continued…

"So, the act of me asking you if you knew how to use the parachute made you to think that I didn't know how to use it? if that was what made you believe so, then I must say that if I tell you that I don't know how to use a fire arm you would instantly believe me. Perhaps I should train with you…"

With that, Jean quickly shifted the gun to the side and fired in the air just a few inches away from Marr's head before quickly returning the firearm in place and holding it at Marr's forehead.

The moment Marr saw this, his eyes widened in bewilderment as he shuddered with fright.

"Should I continue?"

Jean asked with a dark grin.

"S-stop! Stop it!"

Marr said with a starter. It was clear that he was scared by Jean's actions. And he was fully convinced that Jean could take his life if he wanted to.

"After all you are no longer important to me as you already served your purpose while in the plane. It was because of you that I was able to escape. So, me keeping you alive up to this point is only me trying to practice some form of humanity. For your information, it will be befitting you to obey my commands if you really value your life.

Just don't make any silly movements, if you think you can snatch the firearm from me, then go ahead and do it. But all I can assure you is that, that would mark the end of you."

Jean said without blinking, but deep inside he was trembling like never before.

The moment Marr told Jean that he too would die if he killed him, Jean panicked and knew very well that Marr was trying to turn the table.

Since Jean knew very well that what Marr was telling was true, and could easily land him in trouble if he was to admit it, he quickly came up with a plan.

He needed to twist the truth that Marr was telling to look like lies for him to maintain his upper hand in this game. That's why he faked to shoot Marr just to prove to him that he could take his life.

Knowing that allowing Marr to have an upper hand would spoil his escape plans as he could have been the one haunting him when they landed, he never gave him the chance of turning the table. And judging from Marr's reaction when he shot in the air, it seemed that his plan had worked.

This now gave him a chance to continue taking Marr hostage as they plummeted in the sky. This was the only way he could be sure of escaping unscathed the moment they landed with the parachute.

Although he pretended to fire at Marr, there was no way he could take his life because he still needed him for the landing, and maybe for the interrogation.

The moment Jean achieved his goal of putting Marr under his command despite the life-threatening circumstances they were in, he sighed and threw a quick glance below the sky before turning back to face Marr.

From the appearance of the ground below them, it seemed that they were still far from landing as it was difficult for Jean to discern what lied below them.

"Focus and be ready to release the parachute once we are at a decent height"

Jean said with a serious face, thus snapping Marr from his dazed state.

During this moment, Jean's heart was thumbing heavily in his chest. Although there was a reserved state on his face, he was still dreadful of falling from the sky.

He didn't want his emotions to show on the surface in order for Marr to never take advantage of him.

Although it could have seemed like an eternity, it had only been three minutes since the two jumped off the plane.

A few seconds later, Marr's expression turned serious and in the next moment, he released the parachute.

Seeing that the parachute had been released, Jean smiled internally as the two were jerked and oriented in a vertical manner. Noticing that the firearm was out of place, Jean quickly returned it on Marr's forehead with a smirk. Two seconds later, the parachute that had been released drastically reduced the speed at which they were falling at until it gained a decent momentum.

As the two heaved a sigh of relief, their plummeting momentum started to increase with each passing second.

This was the moment the dual realized that something was amiss.
