"Ten, how could you?" I asked, my voice shaking with anger and hurt.
Ten's expression was cold. "I did what I had to do, Navia. We're all just pawns in my dad's game."
My mind raced as I tried to process what was happening. I was tied to a chair, with no way of escaping, and David was in the same situation. But I thought he was with Pit.
"Please, Dad, don't hurt David and Navia. They didn't do anything wrong," Ten pleaded.
Mr. Can chuckled. "Ah, but how can I hurt two valuable pawns in my game? One that will help me achieve my ultimate goal."
"What goal is that, Mr. Can?" I asked.
"You see, Navia, I sent David to come and cause trouble between Pit and you, to make it worse than it already was. You're Pit's only weakness, the only remaining loved one he has, which makes you a perfect pawn. If I have you, I can control Pit," Mr. Can explained.
"I should have been the head of the Sawrat family, and Mysa should have been my wife. I fell in love with her first, but my brother took everything from me - the family, the title, and Mysa, the woman I loved."
"Wait a minute, you're doing this because of some family issues? What the hell, dude? You're the youngest. Ever heard of 'first come, first served'?" I replied, my sarcasm not sitting well with Mr. Can.
He signaled one of his men to punch me. I swore that hurt more than falling flat on my face.
"And how do Ten and David come into this plan?" I asked, trying to understand.
"David is Ten's weakness. He will do anything to protect David. They grew up together, and David can't say no to me because he has debts to pay," Mr. Can revealed.
