Life Was Was Good

Dylan wanted to leave but mama insisted he stayed the night. He was glad to accept because wherever his beloved was, there he would be and he had obviously wanted to stay but didn't want Leo's mom to suspect anything as he didn't want to annoy his beloved.

After dinner, which was prepared by Leo and Dylan, even Mama Adams helped a little, (apparently, they wanted their first night in their new house to be special) they retired to their rooms for the night.

Leo insisted that he and Dylan sleep in separate rooms because he didn't want his mother to suspect anything. He wasn't ready to tell her that he was gay (was he gay or was it that he loved a man? He didn't care. For Dylan, he could be anything including being gay. Who cared about tags anyway?).

After his shower, he decided to go and see whether his mother was comfortable before bed. He knocked on her door and entered when she gave him the go ahead.

"Son, baby, why aren't you sleeping yet? She asked worriedly. "Is anything the matter? Don't you have to be up early tomorrow?"

"No, Ma. I just wanted to make sure that you are comfortable before I sleep," he smiled as he helped to tuck in her legs into the duvet.

"I'm well son. Thank you," she returned the smile.

"Good night then mom. Sleep well," he said as he started walking out.

"Son, wait. Come here," she called to him and patted the side of her bed.

He looked at her curiously as he complied, "what is it Ma?"

"Baby, I have to say this because l want you to be happy. I have seen the way you look at that boy and I can see how much he cares for you. Or do you think I don't know that everything good that is happening to us is because of him?" She looked at him as she talked so that she could see the subtle changes in his facial expressions and she saw quite a few.

She knew her son too well and he couldn't hide anything from her.

Leo was the one who didn't think, like ever, that his mom would suspect it or that it was so obvious that she had seen it. Were they so obvious?

"What do you mean Ma?" He asked, surprised that his mom noticed that he was in love with Dylan. When and how?

"Baby, your face lights up every time you talk of Dylan. You have never talked of anyone the way you do about him. You are always like Dylan this Dylan that. Dylan told me, Dylan did this…” she sighed with a knowing smile.

“Whenever he is around, you two can't keep your eyes off each other. I don't know how long it is going to take for you two to confess your feelings to and for each other but I want you to know that I'm okay with whoever you choose to spend your time with. Be it Dylan or a woman, I'm okay with it. All I want for you and your brother is for both of you to be happy. Live happily," she finished and squeezed his hand.

"Ma, you mean you knew all along?" He asked in disbelief.

"Even your brother noticed," she said with a giggle like it was an open secret and the only person in the dark was him, Leo.

‘How had he not noticed that Dylan was in love with him all along?’ He wondered.

"Ma, ..Er... Dylan and I are already together. He asked me to be his boyfriend yesterday and I said yes," he said as his face turned pink from embarrassment and avoided his mom's eyes as he straightened the already smooth duvet.

"You are? Oh my goodness! Finally! I thought I had to lock the two of you up in the same room with food spiked with an aphrodisiac for you two to confess to each other! This is good news!" She screamed with joy then noticed her son was turning red from embarrassment.

"Leo, son, you don't have to feel embarrassed about it. Love is beautiful. Enjoy it. Okay?" She lovingly said and that earned a sniff from her son. He couldn't believe how lucky he was to have her for a mom.

"Thank you Ma," he said as he hugged his mom.

"Now tell me son, who is number 1 and who is 0?" She asked with a cheeky smile behaving like a gossipy teenager.

"What do you mean Ma?" He asked her with his eyes almost popping out of their sockets. How could his mother...?

“Jesus Christ!" He exclaimed embarrassment as he hid his face.

"Come on son. I read about boy and boy relationships on the internet. One has to be top and the other bottom. I have watched enough... what do they call it?... eeerrrrm... bl. Yes, bl. I have watched enough BL series to know. Which are you? Tell me. I want to know!" She asked while giggling like a schoolgirl who had just been greeted by her crush as she pulled Leo's pyjama sleeve.

Leo looked at her with a disbelieving face. Was this really his mother?

"Ha! I can't believe you are my mother! Are all mothers like this? I won't say anything. I don't know anything!" He said as he stood up to leave.

"Listen son, make sure you use protection wherever you do it and make sure that you both get tested. Also, have you heard about PREPS?" She asked and he stood up.

"I'm done with you. Good night old lady," he said as she ran for the door.

"Even if you don't tell me l will ask Kay to investigate for us when he comes next week!" She said while laughing at her son whose face, especially the cheeks and ears had already turned scarlet. "And call Dylan for me. I want to talk to him," she finished and wished her son a good night.

Leo didn't know even middle aged women could be true fujoshi's. If his mother was one, he would never hear the end of it. But he was grateful that she understood him and where he was coming from. That was one out of the way.

He smiled as he walked out of her room. Life was good.

It was good to him.
