Chapter 36

Before Oprah arrived, she had noticed the most luxurious and best-positioned private room for the auction upstairs.

The room was designed with one-way glass – people outside couldn't see inside, but those inside could see the outside. That was why she had purposely chosen a seat in a spot visible from the room.

Then, as if by chance, she looked up and gazed at the room upstairs. It was a fleeting glance, and her eyes remained calm and undisturbed.

Inside the room, Burgess's assistant, Hardy, was dumbfounded. "Miss Oprah!"

Hardy had always been Burgess's right-hand man and was naturally familiar with Oprah. He also knew how obsessed his boss, Burgess, had been with her over these six years.

Suppressing the urge to rush down, Burgess gave instructions to Hardy, "Withdraw the bid."

"Yes."

Following the instructions from upstairs, the secretary below stopped bidding.
