Chapter 267: Rota’s New Member!

Froakie—its final evolution was Greninja, a Water/Dark-type Pokémon.

It was the Water starter from the Kalos region and one of the most popular Pokémon ever. Why?

Because Greninja was Ash's ace Pokémon during his journey in Kalos.

Their deep bond allowed Greninja to undergo a special transformation—the Ash-Greninja form.

Of course, in the Lumiose Conference finals, Greninja had an "unfortunate" loss against Alain's Charizard X, costing Ash the championship.

Greninja had been incredibly strong throughout the tournament, but this particular battle left fans… well, frustrated.

Thus, the infamous meme "Water Storage Charizard" was born.

Still, Dylan personally believed that Pikachu was the true MVP of that fight.

Pikachu had defeated Alain's Tyranitar and Metagross—both pseudo-Legendaries—before finally losing to Charizard.

"You three need to grow strong, okay?"

Dylan crouched down, smiling at the three young Pokémon—Froakie, Mudkip, and Wingull—who were either looking at him curiously or shyly.

Under the influence of his Viridian Power, their affection toward him skyrocketed.

"I wonder if my Greninja will be able to transform into Ash-Greninja?"

Dylan glanced at his shiny Froakie, deep in thought.

In order for Greninja to Bond Transform, it needed the Battle Bond ability.

In the games, Battle Bond Greninja couldn't be obtained through normal means—only through special events.

But reality was different.

Would this shiny Froakie naturally develop Battle Bond upon evolving?

It was already late, so Dylan washed up and went to bed.

Growth Simulation—Start!

Sinnoh Region, Lily of the Valley Island.

The headquarters of the Sinnoh Pokémon League.

This was the destination for all trainers who had endured countless trials and tribulations, seeking to stand at the pinnacle of battle.

Dylan had already made it here.

He had even defeated Sinnoh's Elite Four.

Now, he stood before the final door—the Champion's Chamber.

The room was cast in dark gray hues.

This was Cynthia's domain.

"So, you've arrived, Dylan."

As Dylan stepped into the room, a tall woman dressed in a black, form-fitting coat turned to face him.

Cynthia's golden eyes gleamed with warmth as she gave him a poised smile.

"How have you been? Oh, and I should thank you for resolving the crisis at Spear Pillar."

Cynthia spoke gracefully.

"No matter the challenge, you and your Pokémon can overcome it. That unwavering spirit is what allows you to surpass your limits."

Dylan listened silently, not interrupting.

After all, this wasn't the real Cynthia—just an AI-controlled Cynthia, following pre-set dialogue.

"Thanks to you, I've learned something important."

Cynthia's smile deepened as she took her position at the battlefield.

"Now then! I know why you're here. As the Pokémon League Champion, I will face you in battle!"

Her presence shifted.

Despite being a woman, she exuded an aura of absolute authority as she raised her hand.

Cynthia, the Sinnoh Champion, has challenged you to battle!

And then…

"You were the strongest challenger I've ever faced."

Cynthia recalled her last Pokémon—her fallen Garchomp.

She looked at Dylan with admiration.

"That was a beautiful, truly spectacular battle!"

"You commanded your Pokémon to their fullest potential, made clear decisions, and fought with composure—securing a flawless victory."

"Passion and strategy, combined into one. No matter where you go or what obstacles you face, you will always find a way to overcome them. Battling you has shown me that truth."

"Sinnoh has a new Champion!"

Cynthia's praise was overflowing, but Dylan simply found it… boring.

This wasn't the real Cynthia.

Just a scripted AI spouting lines.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity of dialogue, Dylan entered the Hall of Fame.

'Champion Team Recorded: Mewtwo, Metagross, Ludicolo, Gengar, Greninja, Swampert.'

Dylan sighed.

Welp.

On his way here, Greninja and Swampert had managed to evolve by leeching experience.

That wasn't the problem.

The problem was that, since Legendaries weren't normally available in the first run, he had no choice but to use Mewtwo.

But in reality, he was confident that he could get the real Mewtwo.

After all, Giovanni hadn't actually captured Mewtwo yet.

Still, getting Mewtwo through the Growth Simulation was fine.

He just wondered—when he suddenly had a "twin," how would Rocket's Mewtwo react?

'Ding—Congratulations! You have become the Sinnoh Champion and entered the Hall of Fame for the first time.'

'You may select one Pokémon from your Champion Team to materialize in the real world.'

A translucent screen appeared before Dylan.

"I choose Mewtwo."

There was no hesitation.

After all, Mewtwo was his only option this time.

"Confirm selection?"

"Confirm."

'Selection successful. Mewtwo will now be transferred to reality.'

Perfect.

Now he had his own Mewtwo.

Dylan waited, expecting another notification… but nothing came.

"So, clearing Sinnoh alone doesn't unlock the Hisui region?"

Dylan frowned slightly.

He had assumed that unlocking Hisui—the ancient Sinnoh—would be tied to completing the modern Sinnoh region.

But that wasn't the case.

Had he missed some kind of condition?

He had to reach Hisui eventually.

In modern Sinnoh, there was no way to obtain the Azure Flute—the key to summoning Arceus.

The only way to get it was in Hisui.

"I'll focus on capturing the Sinnoh trio first."

Dylan put the thought aside.

If the system refused to tell him how to unlock Hisui, he'd have to figure it out himself.

Did he need to clear every region first?

Either way, he'd move on to Johto next.

After clearing that, he'd bring back one of Sinnoh's Legendaries.

The Next Morning

Dylan woke up, washed up, and stepped into the backyard.

"Come out."

He tossed a Luxury Ball.

A flash of white light, and—

A humanoid Pokémon with a sleek white body, a long green tail, and piercing eyes appeared before him.

Mewtwo.

"It's a Shiny one."

Dylan examined his newly acquired Mewtwo.

Its body was nearly identical to the one Team Rocket had.

But while Rocket's Mewtwo was purple, his Mewtwo's tail and belly were green.

A Shiny Mewtwo.

"How do you feel?" Dylan asked.

"I feel… excellent."

Mewtwo's deep, resonant telepathic voice echoed in his mind.

Dylan blinked.

The voice…

It sounded slightly feminine.

Just like the Mewtwo from Genesect and the Legend Awakened.

"Try this out, Mewtwo."

Dylan took out a crystal-clear stone—the Mega Evolution Stone for Mewtwo.

This was the same stone given to him by Dr. Fuji.

"Do you need me to activate it with my Key Stone?"

"No need. The energy inside… is the same as mine."

Mewtwo's deep blue eyes pulsed with Psychic energy.

It could feel the stone's resonance.

Mewtwo clenched its fist around the Mega Stone—

A dazzling evolutionary light burst forth.

Mega Evolution!

The light faded, revealing a new form—

Its body was smaller but more streamlined.

Large, ear-like extensions curled from its head, and a long tail-like appendage stretched from its skull.

Mega Mewtwo Y.

"How does it feel now?" Dylan asked again.

This time, the meaning was different.

Mega Mewtwo Y didn't need a trainer to trigger its transformation.

Just like in the movie.

"Amazing! Dylan, I can feel… an endless surge of power!"

Shiny Mewtwo Y's calm telepathic voice carried a hint of amazement as it raised both arms, gazing at its newly evolved form.

Though its body had become smaller, Shiny Mewtwo Y could feel an overwhelming surge of power coursing through it!

Beep~ Shiny Mewtwo Y, Psychic-type, Genetic Pokémon.

Ability: Insomnia

Moves: Psystrike, Recover, Aura Sphere, Thunder, Blizzard, Fire Blast, Nasty Plot...

Description: Though its body has shrunk, its power has grown immeasurable. With just a slight use of its psychic abilities, even skyscrapers could be reduced to ashes. (Shiny Mega Mewtwo Y)

The Rotom Pokédex displayed Shiny Mewtwo Y's information, and Dylan nodded in satisfaction. Not bad at all!

"This Mega Stone is yours now, Mewtwo," Dylan said.

A flash of light enveloped Shiny Mewtwo Y as it reverted to its normal form. Without hesitation, it absorbed the Mega Stone into its body, ensuring that it could Mega Evolve whenever it wished.

Since today was Sunday, the Rota Gym was closed, meaning Dylan didn't have to open for business.

Initially, Dylan planned to take Lillie out for breakfast, but as soon as they stepped out of the gym's entrance—

"Huh? Brother, look over there," Lillie pointed toward the corner near the gym, her voice filled with curiosity.

Dylan followed her gaze and raised an eyebrow.

"What are you doing here?"

He and Lillie walked over, looking curiously at the red-haired boy standing in the corner, lost in thought.

"It's none of your business," the boy replied coldly.

He was a sharp-featured youth with pale skin and messy red hair. His aura was overwhelmingly cold and distant, making it clear he wasn't the type to welcome company.

This guy seems really unfriendly…

Lillie frowned slightly. He was standing right outside their home—how could it have nothing to do with them?

At this point, Lillie had already subconsciously started seeing the Rota Gym as her home.

"Oh? You're not here to see me? Silver?" Dylan asked, intrigued as he examined the red-haired boy—Silver.

Silver's expression changed instantly. He instinctively stepped back, his body tensing like a wary beast sensing danger.

But he quickly regained his composure, his gaze turning doubtful as he looked at Dylan.

"You are… Dylan?"

Silver wasn't foolish—he was actually quite sharp.

"Leaf sent you to find me, and yet you don't even know what I look like?" Dylan sighed.

"And why are you so late? Leaf told me you should've arrived within two or three days."

"…"

Silver pressed his lips together and remained silent.

Grrr~

Suddenly, an awkward grumble echoed from Silver's stomach. His head dropped lower, his ears turning red as he felt Dylan and Lillie's amused gazes on him.

"I… lost my phone and wallet on the way here…" he muttered.

"Seriously?"

Dylan sighed and rubbed his forehead. Oh well.

"Come with me. Since you're Leaf's little brother, that makes you my little brother too. Let's grab some food first, then you can get some rest—you probably haven't had a proper sleep in a while, right?"

He patted Silver's frost-covered clothes, realizing the boy must have been standing outside for quite some time.

Silver instinctively flinched at the touch, reluctant to let others get too close—likely a habit from his rough upbringing. But he remembered what his sister, Leaf, had said: Dylan is someone you can trust completely.

And besides, he could sense genuine kindness from Dylan.

"I woke up early this morning," Silver muttered stubbornly.

"If you got here so early, why didn't you knock on the door?"

"…" Silver remained silent. He wasn't good at this kind of thing.

Dylan took Silver and Lillie to a nearby breakfast shop and ordered Silver a large bowl of noodles.

"Eat slowly. If you're still hungry, I'll get you another bowl. Afterward, we'll go buy you some new clothes."

Dylan smiled warmly at Silver, while Lillie curiously observed her new acquaintance—Leaf's younger brother.

"…Thanks," Silver said hesitantly. He stopped eating for a moment, seemingly struggling to get the words out, before finally murmuring his gratitude.

"No need to be polite. From now on, you'll be my apprentice—Leaf told you about that, right?"

"Yeah."

Silver nodded. He was still skeptical about whether Dylan could truly stand against the Masked Man, but he trusted Leaf. And so far, he was starting to trust Dylan as well.

After breakfast, Dylan took Silver shopping for clothes before returning to the Rota Gym.

When Silver stepped out after changing into his new outfit and tidying up his hair, he looked like a completely different person.

Dressed in a fitted deep-purple high-necked long-sleeve and matching purple pants, his now neatly combed red hair accentuated his sharp, defiant demeanor. The transformation made his cold and rebellious aura even more pronounced.

"Not bad, looking sharp," Dylan said, eyeing Silver with approval.

"…" Silver looked away, rubbing his nose awkwardly. He wasn't used to this kind of praise.

But for the first time—aside from Leaf—he felt a warmth from someone else.

"From today onward, you're part of the Rota Gym, Silver. Welcome aboard."

Dylan grinned and patted Silver's shoulder.

He planned to train Silver well.

And when Silver was ready, Dylan would send him to challenge Giovanni.

Oh, I can't wait to see Giovanni's face when that happens.

It was going to be interesting—after all, Silver was Giovanni's ultimate counter.
