Chapter 2. Boy of southern village

Chapter 2

Boy of southern village

Brian immersed himself in the daily tasks of the village, his strong arms tirelessly aiding the villagers in their chores. As he helped cut wood and played with the children, his presence brought joy and laughter to those around him.

"Help me chop my wood too!" a farmer called out from across the way, seeking Brian's assistance.

"I'm coming! Just finishing up here," Brian replied, focused on completing his current task before moving on.

"Can you believe he's from a good background? I didn't know why he behaved like a fool and did that kind of work, " one observer remarked to his companions, watching Brian with a mixture of admiration and amusement.

"No one would guess the way he acts like a fool. But he's incredibly strong, the work fits him" another agreed, nodding in appreciation.

Amidst the chatter and activity, Brian paused, lifting his gaze to the edge of the woods. A sense of unease washed over him as he spotted a girl running frantically, pursued by armed men. Concern etched his brow as he realized they were strangers, not villagers.

"Look! Those people!" Brian exclaimed, pointing towards the approaching figures. But to his dismay, the villagers saw nothing.

"We can't see anything," they replied, puzzled by Brian's sudden urgency.

Realization dawned on Brian. He remembered his unique ability – he couldn't see things from afar as well as others. With a sense of urgency, he abandoned his task and sprinted towards the direction of the commotion.

"Wait! Where are you going? You haven't finished your work!" The villagers called after him, surprised by his sudden departure.

Ignoring their protests, Brian rushed toward the edge of the village, driven by the need to protect the girl and confront the unknown threat. As he disappeared into the woods, leaving his unfinished work behind, a sense of anticipation lingered among the villagers,

" what is he doing again" one of the villagers shouted

Brian's heart raced as he trailed behind the men and the woman, he walked silently and fast after them but was shocked they were so fast more than a normal human. He watched in horror as the men pursued the girl relentlessly, their grim determination evident in every stride. His breath caught in his throat as he overheard snippets of their conversation, their voices low and urgent as they discussed their plans.

But as one of the men approached the girl with a sword drawn, Brian knew he couldn't stand by and watch any longer. He knew he had to do something or else something bad would happen. Within a blink of an eye he charged forward, his muscles coiling like a spring as he tackled the assailant to the ground.

The impact sent shockwaves rippling through his body, but Brian pushed through the pain, his mind laser-focused on protecting the girl at all costs. As he grappled with his attacker, he heard the commotion behind him as the other men turned their attention towards him.

Mia's eyes snapped open as she registered the sound of footsteps approaching. She blinked in confusion, trying to make sense of the chaotic scene unfolding before her. But before she could react, she saw Brian standing before her, facing down their assailants with a steely resolve.

"Who are you?" one of the intruders demanded, his voice laced with hostility. "And why are you interrupting our mission?"

Brian squared his shoulders, his gaze unwavering as he met the man's stare head-on. "Who I am doesn't matter," he replied. "Just stay away from the girl if you don't want to be in danger."

The intruder's eyes narrowed, his lips curling into a sneer as he took a menacing step closer. "I think you should be the one to stay away," he growled. "The girl is dangerous."

Brian's brow furrowed in confusion. " Dangerous? What did she do that you're after her that badly?" he demanded. "Five men against one woman—I think she's the one in danger."

But before he could finish his sentence, the intruder lashed out with a swift punch, sending Brian sprawling to the ground. As he struggled to regain his footing, he watched in horror as the other men closed in on Mia, their intentions clear.

"Hand over the book" the intruder said as he began to move closer to her

But Mia was no helpless victim; she knows it's the time for her to act. With a speed and agility that took Brian by surprise, she dispatched the nearest attacker with deadly precision, her movements fluid and graceful as she fought for her life.

Brian wasted no time in joining the fight, his muscles burning with exertion as he unleashed a barrage of punches and kicks against their remaining assailants. But as the fight raged on, he couldn't help but feel a sense of unease gnawing at the edges of his consciousness.

These were no ordinary men—their speed and strength far surpassed anything he had ever encountered. And as he exchanged blows with them, he couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to this encounter than met the eye.

With Mia by his side, Brian fought with a ferocity born of desperation, his blows landing with deadly accuracy as they pushed back their attackers. But just when victory seemed within their grasp, a sudden twist of fate sent shockwaves rippling through the night.

As they pushed the last of their assailants off the hillside, Brian's sense of triumph was short-lived. The book lying at his feet stirred, its pages fluttering in the breeze as if possessed by some unseen force,as Brian was trying to read the book Mia picked it up.

"Hey, thanks for saving me. This fell off you while you were fighting," Mia said, handing over a necklace to Brian.

Brian collected the necklace and put it back on. As he was putting it on, he noticed Mia leaving. "Hey, where are you going?" Brian asked.

"To look for someone," Mia replied.

"Who? Maybe I can help," Brian offered.

"No thanks, you have done enough," Mia said as she walked away.

"Where are you from, and what is your name?" Brian asked, walking closer to her.

Mia turned and looked at Brian. "Stay away from me. I don't tell strangers my name, and I don't like people following me. If you do, I will know. I didn't want to hurt you. Thanks for saving me again," Mia said as she walked away. Brian stood and watched as Mia walked away, admiring her beauty.

As he watched her go, Brian couldn't shake the feeling that their paths would cross again, that fate had bound them together in ways he couldn't begin to understand. But for now, all he could do was nurse his wounds and wait for the day when he would see her again.
