Chapter 94: The Advantages of Itou Ayumi
"Besides that, there's one more thing."
After discussing the animation production, Yang Dahai added.
"Ah?"
Lin Qingshan looked at Yang Dahai with a strange expression and muttered, "Just like the old man in *Jackie Chan Adventures*… 'There's one more thing… one more thing…'"
"Ah? Teacher Qingshan, what are you talking about… Jackie Chan, what old man? Who's that?" Yang Dahai asked, puzzled.
"It's nothing. But… Editor Yang, how many more things are there?" Lin Qingshan wanted to scratch his head but recalled Gu Qianli's advice, so he just lightly scratched his neck instead.
"Cough, really, this is the last thing, the very last thing, alright?" Yang Dahai said seriously.
"After *Edgewalker* concludes, do you have any other plans?" Yang Dahai asked sincerely. "Are you thinking of starting a new manga? Any ideas?"
Lin Qingshan's face lit up with a bright smile. "Ah, about that. I've actually been thinking about my next manga for a long time. It's called…"
"*Chainsaw Man*."
"*Chainsaw Man*?" Yang Dahai was taken aback and asked, "What's the story and setting like?"
"The story is set in a world similar to modern society, but filled with monsters known as 'devils.' Devils are beings born from the names of animals, plants, concepts, and other things, and they surpass human intelligence. People believe that the more terrifying the name, the greater the devil's power.
Devils can sustain their power and heal their wounds by consuming human blood. Devils that inhabit human corpses are called 'fiends.' Though they appear human, their personalities are those of devils, with only a few retaining their rationality.
Devil hunters are those who make contracts with devils to exterminate them. This includes government-run 'Special Devil Investigation Bureau' and private devil hunters."
Lin Qingshan directly quoted a summary of *Chainsaw Man*.
"Is this a fantasy-type manga setting?" Yang Dahai frowned.
He actually preferred Lin Qingshan to continue creating works similar to *Edgewalker*, which was a safe bet. However, if this young man could produce a remarkable cyberpunk work like *Edgewalker*, he might also create excellent works in other genres. It ultimately depended on the manga itself.
"Do you have any drafts for *Chainsaw Man* yet?" Yang Dahai asked.
"Currently, I have about thirteen chapters done," Lin Qingshan said. "I'll hand it over to Ayumi."
"Ayumi…"
Yang Dahai frowned.
Initially, he thought it would be good for the inexperienced editor Itou Ayumi to handle Lin Qingshan's work as a learning opportunity. But now that Lin Qingshan was no longer a newcomer and had achieved great success with *Edgewalker*, it seemed that an experienced editor would be more suitable for him.
A competent manga editor does more than just handle submissions and payments. They also participate in the manga's creation, communicating with the author about plot, characters, and settings, and ensuring the story progresses well. They also advocate for the manga's promotion.
More importantly, they build a good relationship with the manga creator.
[Translator: sauron]
Itou Ayumi, being a newcomer, lacked experience in assisting with creation, negotiating plot details, and securing promotion resources. However, her good relationship with Lin Qingshan was a positive aspect.
Lin Qingshan's previous work was highly polished, and he didn't require much input from others. Ayumi's minimal interference had suited him well.
"Teacher Qingshan, due to work arrangements, you might need to switch to a different editor for your next work," Yang Dahai said gently.
Lin Qingshan frowned, the first time he had done so while usually smiling. "Why?"
"It's the company's decision, and having an experienced editor's help will make the creation process smoother and more efficient," Yang Dahai explained with a smile.
"I don't need that. I think Ayumi is doing fine," Lin Qingshan shook his head. He had become quite familiar with Itou Ayumi and was unwilling to switch editors.
The high quality of his previous work meant he didn't need extensive guidance or changes. Ayumi's approach of minimal interference had been ideal.
"If another editor came in and insisted on changes, it could cause problems, as happened with the death of Pila in *Edgewalker*. Ayumi's support, even if limited, allowed me to maintain my vision," Lin Qingshan added.
"Well, if that's the case, I'll keep Ayumi as your editor," Yang Dahai said, seeing Lin Qingshan's determination. There was no point in insisting otherwise.
"Thank you, Editor Yang!" Lin Qingshan said with a satisfied smile.

The storylines that readers may not like will be concluded over the weekend. If you're not fond of them, you can catch up from Monday. The three chapters from Sunday to Monday will cover the ending of *Edgewalker*.
Additionally, besides the works mentioned in the synopsis, I also want to write *Parasyte*, *Tokyo Ghoul*, *Akame ga Kill*, and *Eva*. If they don't appeal to you, it's fine.
If the performance isn't good, I might write fewer chapters and conclude the story faster. Future updates may not be as detailed as *Edgewalker* but will focus on key scenes.
Since *Edgewalker* had many crucial and highlight scenes, such as the opening, David and Lucy's moon dream, Pila's death, Mann's symptoms and death, and the final battle at Arisaka Tower, I might have overestimated the pacing and certain story elements.
I'm still learning how to manage the pacing and handling of the story, so please provide feedback and suggestions for improvement!
Also, I have plans to release additional content based on performance, which I'll discuss later. I've been working hard to prepare many drafts!
