Chapter 5: No Thanks, I Won't Pee

Su Sheng walked toward the main entrance.

Since getting married, he had never visited his iceberg wife's corporation. From the outside, it looked quite imposing, located in the prime downtown area with the whole building owned by the corporation.

"What did you say, our president asked you for an interview, aren't you just here to cause trouble?"

The security guard waved over several colleagues. He felt that this man in slippers was suspicious, wondering who would come dressed like this for an interview, let alone claim any connection with the president.

Su Sheng looked astonished at the security guards blocking his way. What was happening these days, was he not even allowed into his own wife's company?

"Are you sure you're not letting me in, dare to delay my interview?"

He didn't want to come initially, and now he had even more of an excuse to turn and leave. But walking away dejectedly, he would return home without any dignity as a husband!

Just then, another car arrived, a white Porsche parked behind a Range Rover.

This time the security guards recognized who it was, quickly running over to open the car door, calling out, "President Li, hello!"

Su Sheng's eyes brightened as he saw a woman in a business suit step out of the car, wearing black stockings, high heels, with a pair of gold-rimmed glasses on her nose and wavy long hair that carried a peach scent.

This was a woman both beautiful and charismatic.

Crucially, he had seen her in photos at home, Tang Zijun's elder cousin, named Li Meixin. He hadn't realized she also worked in the corporation and was even a president?

This was encountering a relative, a perfect chance to get inside for a visit. Unless absolutely necessary, he wouldn't call Tang Zijun, as that would make him seem truly helpless.

"What happened?"

Li Meixin looked over this way, her gaze pausing on Su Sheng, not recognizing him as her brother-in-law, instead showing a trace of disgust.

"President Li, this man said he is here for an interview, we are checking," a security guard explained aloud.

Li Meixin replied, "Check thoroughly, don't let just anyone into the company."

With that, she walked away without turning back, leaving Su Sheng shaking his head with a wry smile. Obviously, his own iceberg president hadn't recognized him as her husband. How could she not recognize a close relative? He had even been somewhat worried about Tang Zijun's safety.

"Sir, could you please show your identification? We need to verify your interview eligibility." The security guards were rather restrained, entirely because of the luxury car, or else they would have chased him away long ago.

Su Sheng was speechless. How many people in the world could make him show his ID? He was about to explode in anger, making a scene before leaving, and then scold his iceberg wife when he got home.

Suddenly, the walkie-talkies carried by the security guards rang out, a woman's voice transmitted, "Please let this gentleman in for the interview."

The guards were a bit confused. What was this situation? Although they weren't sure who the woman speaking was, she was definitely from the company's upper management. What on earth was this man in slippers' background?

"Now can I go inside?" Su Sheng didn't recognize the voice either, it wasn't Tang Zijun's. He didn't care anymore.

"Sir, please come in!"

The security guards stepped aside. Well, this was someone they couldn't afford to offend. Since the leadership had spoken, there was no reason for them to obstruct him, they would just have to keep a closer watch once he was inside.

With that, Su Sheng strode away, walked through the lobby downstairs, and entered the elevator. When he found the interview location, he was still late. But it didn't matter; he wasn't really here to find a job.

"I'm here for the interview!"

Su Sheng slapped his resume on the reception desk, instantly drawing attention. At least a hundred people were waiting here, but none had ever seen an interviewee wearing slippers, with messy hair, arriving late while still acting so nonchalant.

This was the famous Tang Corporation of Handong, I'd bet fifty cents this guy wouldn't make it past the first round of preliminaries.

The two receptionists were also surprised. How could someone so disheveled and with such an attitude even come for an interview? What was the HR department thinking when they selected his resume?

But a large company has its systems, and the receptionist held back her anger as she picked up the resume—and what on earth was this mess?

The resume itself wasn't the issue—it was the company's standard form, complete with the company emblem. But other than his name being correct, everything else was a joke.

Take the telephone number section—it read "one-one-zero", the home address "confidential", the position applied for "executive level", and the education "middle school". The years of work experience might be acceptable, but what the heck did "saving the world" mean?

"Mr. Su, you must have picked up the wrong resume!" the receptionist politely reminded him. After saying this, she felt quite noble, undoubtedly reflecting the quality expected of a receptionist at a big company.

"Impossible, there's no mistake. When is the interview? I'm in a rush."

Su Sheng tapped his fingers on the counter, clearly not joking.

However, the receptionist was baffled again. Interviews were common, but someone like this was a first.

"Mr. Su, please wait a moment, we will arrange it as soon as possible."

The receptionist thought to stabilize him first then figure out what to do. After Su Sheng found a seat nearby, she hurriedly checked the company system.

True enough, Su Sheng's name was in this batch of interviewees, and it was even for a second interview.

What situation was this?

If such a person had come for a preliminary interview, they surely would have remembered him!

There were only a few people coming for the second interview today; the results of the preliminaries weren't out so quickly yet. So, holding back her confusion, the receptionist arranged for Su Sheng to be the fifth interviewee, just as they were interviewing the second candidate.

"Mr. Su, you are the fifth interviewee."

"Oh, number five? Not bad. I'll step out for a smoke. Call me when it's my turn."

Su Sheng really did head out. As a person of high moral standing, he had noticed the designated smoking area outside before he came in.

But this exit stirred even more murmurs inside. Some interviewees who had seen the scene at the entrance wondered how he had been allowed back in, and now as the fifth interviewee? Wait, the fifth candidate had already gone in, how could there be another one—oh my, he couldn't possibly be here for a second interview!

Some job seekers felt their worldviews being overturned. Indeed, nowhere was free from nepotism, not even a big company like the Tang Corporation.

Fortunately, it looked like Su Sheng was the only insider today; the rest of them still had a chance to get hired. Even if it meant being a janitor at Tang Corporation, it was a dream many aspired to. Who knows, maybe one day they'd catch the eye of the beautiful CEO, scoring both wealth and romance, and thus reaching the pinnacle of life.

"Mr. Su, your interview is almost up. Do you want to prepare a bit? There's a restroom over there."

A receptionist actually ran outside to call him, diligently doing her duty by reminding him to tidy up. She too guessed Su Sheng must be a relative, otherwise how else could such a brazen man in flip-flops come for an interview?

"Thanks, but I'm not in a rush to pee!"

Su Sheng extinguished his cigarette, thinking that the quality of a big company was indeed different; even the receptionist reminded him about using the restroom, such attentive service!

The receptionist shuddered, feeling as if she had been played. Nonetheless, she personally took Su Sheng to the office for his second interview. It seemed like Director Li was personally interviewing today—a rare occurrence. Could this guy be Director Li's relative?
