Chapter 4 Interview? Beg me!

In this age of information explosion, it is very easy for the police to check someone's identity.

The police quickly pulled up the surveillance footage, not only capturing Su Sheng's face but also finding that he left in a Land Rover Discovery.

Shu Jie really hadn't expected that someone with Su Sheng's wrinkled dress sense would drive such an expensive car. Who was this man, and did everyone like to play poor these days?

Before long, the database comparison was out, but the display was problematic.

It was all question marks; they couldn't find anything.

"Team Shi, what's going on? Could it be that this Su Sheng doesn't have a household registration?" Shu Jie was confused; it was very abnormal not to be able to find records.

Shi Yuan was equally surprised, as by now, the police's information databases were very comprehensive, and the facial recognition system had never failed before. Yet, now, they couldn't find a match.

He refused to believe it and immediately entered a string of access passwords.

Ding!

With a soft chime, the screen displayed an S-class file, with no authorization to access!

"What, an S-class file?"

Shu Jie certainly knew what S-class meant. Not even the team captain, let alone the chief, had the authority to view it. But what could Su Sheng's identity be? Was he using his real name?

"Hey, Shu Jie, what made you think to call me?"

Zijun sat on the couch with her long legs atop her laptop; she had too many things to deal with every day. She was frankly surprised to receive a call from an old classmate, as the last two times she had invited her, the classmate had been too busy to attend.

"I need to talk to you, Zijun. Good news, the robber who stole your company's goods a while back has been caught. He's being interrogated overnight, and I believe we will soon have a lead on the goods."

"That really is good news," Zijun said, allowing a rare smile. She had had a myriad of vexing issues lately, with things going wrong both at home and at work.

"Yeah, that's it, I'm busy over here."

Shu Jie was about to hang up when Zijun hurriedly said, "Shu Jie, don't push yourself too hard, you seem to be even busier than me. Let's get together when you have some free time."

"I'll think about that after this busy period is over. Hanging up now!"

As soon as she hung up, Zijun shook her phone, wondering why on earth Shu Jie insisted on being a police officer.

"Click!"

Suddenly, the door opened. Su Sheng, reeking of alcohol, returned home and seeing his 'Iceberg' wife still sitting on the sofa, couldn't help but ask, "What's with you? You haven't left the house all day?"

"I just got back from Grandpa's," Zijun replied, struggling to contain her anger. She had just heard good news and didn't want to get extremely upset again.

"Oh, how's the old man?"

Su Sheng asked casually before planning to head upstairs,

"Su Sheng, stop right there!"

Zijun couldn't hold back and exploded again. She had a long day's work, and coming home to worry about Su Sheng's affairs, she wondered when there would ever be an end to days like this.

"What is it! Do you have an issue?" Su Sheng looked at her intensely, as if he were sizing up his 'Iceberg' wife, almost as though he were about to devour her.

"Su Sheng, can't you, a grown man, act properly..."

Zijun was genuinely furious. Facing Su Sheng, who was like a hopeless case, she was at her wits' end, even afraid to divorce, because that could kill Grandpa.

Now, her greatest hope was that Su Sheng might slightly change his temperament, making her feel this man might yet be salvageable.

"Alright, I get it. If you have anything else to say, just spit it out."

Su Sheng was somewhat impatient. This woman, despite the company having an incident, tens of millions in goods stolen, an employee dead, and his own safety possibly at risk, hadn't mentioned a word about it when she got home. She only brought up trivial matters to him. Did she truly not see him as a man?

Zijun was taken aback for a moment, then pointed to the coffee table and said, "Grandfather wants you to find a job at the company. I've printed out the current vacant positions. Pick one you like, and come to the company for an interview at ten tomorrow morning. Is that a suitable request for you?"

"You're asking me?"

Su Sheng was indeed surprised. It seemed the old man had unleashed his ultimate move and was forcing his hand. But what's the point? A coerced melon is not sweet.

Zijun bit her teeth and said, "Yes, consider it my request to you. Su Sheng, please find something to do instead of wasting your days away."

"Fine, since you asked, I'll go. But if I don't pass the interview, it's not on me."

In the end, Su Sheng still took the printed interview information, his body reeking of alcohol, and went upstairs. This villa had been bought for him by his late father, having spent all of his father's savings. And that car outside, he had purchased with his severance pay, spending all his own money as well.

Now, he didn't have more than five figures in his bank account. Perhaps he really should find something to do, otherwise, he might actually have to be supported by a woman.

Early in the morning, concerned that Su Sheng might go to the company with her and expose their relationship, Zijun left early for the company.

So far, outsiders did not know that she was married, and that was a reputation she could not afford to lose. Zijun wasn't sure whether sending Su Sheng to the company was a good or bad thing.

"President, I've passed down the instructions. As soon as today's job application resumes are gathered, they will be sent to you," the assistant, Xiao Mei, reported as she knocked and entered.

"Hmm, I know."

For Su Sheng's sake, Zijun had put in a lot of thought. As long as Su Sheng showed up today, he was sure to pass the interview.

Looking at the time, it was already nine-thirty in the morning. She was really worried that Su Sheng might still not have gotten out of bed, so after some thought, she decided to make a phone call, which was promptly answered.

"I'm on my way, won't be late."

Su Sheng said just that before hanging up.

Speaking honestly, he had never intended to go to work. Even if his money was almost gone, he couldn't possibly go to work at his wife's company. There were three hundred and sixty professions out there—what couldn't he do to earn money? If worst came to worst, he could always open a clinic.

The reason why he agreed to go to the company in the end was purely because someone had attempted to kidnap Zijun. Did they really think he was just for show?

His wife, he could hit her, scold her, but outsiders had no right to do so, or it would be a grave disrespect to him, with serious consequences.

"Screech!"

The squeal of tires grinding, a Range Rover Velar stopped outside the Tang Corporation building. A few security guards flashed looks of confusion—whose high-level executive's new car was this? The license plate hadn't been registered before.

People were coming and going at the group's main entrance, and many were attracted by the car. Perhaps this vehicle wouldn't stand out in the busy outside world, but parked in front of Tang Group, it held significant meaning. It could very well be the CEO's ride, something that would surely draw attention, whether from job applicants or company staff.

A security guard jogged over to help open the car door, but the person inside got out first. What the hell was going on? Where was the expected CEO, or at least a company executive?

How did a disheveled young man step out of the car, dressed in cheap street market clothes, with flip-flops on his feet? He didn't look like a driver for a CEO!

Everyone was baffled—the luxury car and this man simply didn't match.

Thankfully, the security guard reacted quickly, blurting out, "Excuse me, sir. Tang Group does not allow parking for outside vehicles."

Su Sheng waved his hand casually; he didn't look down on the security guards because some of his former comrades might have become security guards after retiring.

So at this point, he explained, "I'm not an outsider."

"May I ask which department you are from? Do you have a work badge?" The security guard was polite—after all, the car looked imposing.

Continuing his patient explanation, Su Sheng said, "I'm here for an interview at the president's request. It's almost time, let's talk later!"
