Confrontation

Kaluar darted through the hallway, his hair trailing a short path behind him, his heels digging into the earth with every turn, the dorm doors and windows were a blur, all blended into one mess of color.

'Almost there...' He murmured, the soul of his feet pressing against the wooden floor with all his might, getting ready for one final send off of speed, something in the corner of his eyes shimmering in the night sky. His eye darted to see what it could possibly be and it was as if time slowed for them, his eyes widened in horror at the sight, a blade sent straight for him.

With moments to react he fell to his knees the momentum sending him sliding across the floor, dodging the blade that was sent flying. Shards scattered in the sky, the moon's rays shimmering through all the pieces causing them to look like mini stars. Kaluar quickly scrambled to his feet. His hands digging into the ground to regain his balance once more.

Once he regained his momentum he felt something cold wrap around his throat, his hands instinctively reaching to take it off but it was too late, his body was pulled backwards, the sound of shards shattered in his ear as cuts bruised his shoulders.

His hair flew wildly through the sky as he desperately clawed the air praying for some kind of support, but it was all for not, he was already captured. With a deep sigh, he gripped his musket, eyes darting towards the chain, shooting it with a burst of flame. By the time it broke his body collided with the concrete floor, rolling against it's rough surface before coming to a stop, cuts lining his arms and scrapes on his legs.

'That was close..' he muttered under his breath, slowly getting up from the floor. 'You okay, Celi?'

'I'm fine.' He heard a muffled voice from above, a smile formed on his face followed by a sigh of relief.

'Great! Now to deal with this guy.' He said with a determined grin facing the man who pursed him for this long.

'Don't make too lightly of me boy.' He grumbled, his scythe slowly spinning in the night sky.

'You may have grown a pair since the last time we met, but you have grown no stronger!' His body disappeared in a blur, Kaluar's eyes struggled to catch up, only catching a glimpse under the moon light. Quickly, he moved out of the way, falling back to the ground in his sudden movement.

His eyes shook with fear as he realized what he was fighting against, the man turning to him with a wide grin, his blue pupils shrunk into an almost animalistic nature.

'You see now, child?' He announced, his hands stretched wide, inviting him to take a swing. 'You stand no chance against me!'

Quickly, Kaluar reached for his musket again but by the time he wrapped his fingers around it, the man was already over him, ready to deliver the final blow. Kaluar shut his eyes, waiting for his certain demise. The sound of metal collides, as a blade flew the air shattering into mere pieces of ice.

Our hero looked up in awe to see the back of the Director facing him, his blade drawn to the man who threatened him.

'Director!' He shouted with a happy smile, his heart finally at ease in his presence.

'I'll be taking that core from you now.' He Informed, staring daggers at the man before him, his grip tightening against the hilt of his sword, waiting to strike if need be.

The man smiled, dashing towards the director, his crimson robe obscuring his form to the Directors eyes. He sprawled his palm wide, a cyan light illuminating the surrounding area to form another scythe of Ice.

The Director planted his feet to the ground, his eyes rapidly following the man's seemingly disproportionate physique and crude actions, it was all too fast to read. By the time he got close enough it was already too late, the man was already above him, his hands gripping onto his weapon with all his might as he swung downwards to deliver a blow that should kill him.

The sound of colliding metal shook through the silent air, the two adversaries face to face, their blades inches apart from each other's face. The Director grit his teeth as he pushed back, his heart started to beat in a violent rhythm as pure instincts took over the two in the fight that would decide their lives.

The Director stepped back, pushing his blade against the man to make some space between them, but he wouldn't let up, the hooded figure dashed up to him, relentlessly swinging his blade until it finally landed it's mark across his chest. Crimson spewed from his wound as it spread across the ice cold blade like an infection.

He looked down to his wound, blood staining his pristine clothes and hands as he tried to suppress it, his breath grew brief and unsteady, his heartbeat reaching new heights, thinking of ways to get out of the situation as fast as possible. Something shimmering in his peripheral, he steps back shifting his weight to lean back as far possible narrowly dodging the blade of his adversary. A blood thirsty smile staring back at him.

Twisting the handle, the man maneuvered the blade with amazing accuracy, striking down at his foe with a quick follow up. The Director raised his arm, their blades colliding yet his shattered, the pieces flying into the moonlit sky, shimmering in it's glow before falling to the ground. The blade cracked up to the hilt still trying it's best to block the attack of the man.

The Director pushed forward with gritted teeth, his hands clenching as hard as he could against the hilt of the sound pushing it to gain some semblance of control the cold tip of the scythe by his eye, ready to gouge it out with a blood thirsty vengeance, wanting to taste the blood of it's pray once more. His own blood dripping on it's face from their earlier encounter, teasing his own death right before his eyes.

'Director!' Kaluar shouted, about to run in to the help the Director, his hands balling into fists as he started to charge in.

'Go! Others are waiting for you two in the old station!' The Director shouted, looking at the boy as much as the situation would allow.

'You need to get Celi out of here!' He seemed to be on the edge of his ropes, his blade on it's last limbs. With gritted teeth and heavy regret, Kaluar turned around, his feet digging into the ground as he launched towards the gate of the school.

The sound of tearing flesh echoed in his ears as he ran, the man pulling a sharp staff of ice out of the gut of the Director, crimson splattering against the stone pavement. His shattered sword fell to the floor, the tiny pieces scattering as the spilt pool of blood engulfed them.

The Director fell to the floor, his mouth opened in a silent scream before the man that would take his life.

'Don't worry, you'll bleed out soon.' He murmured, his footsteps echoing further and further away from him the more he reveled in pain, his attacker going for his next target, his main objective. The body of the Director colliding with the concrete floor, slowly staining it with his crimson fluids.

'The old station, hm? Guess I need to get to him before then.' He sighed, his arm reaching to rub the back of his neck, his cold blue eyes piercing through the night.

'Hurry for this may be our only chance!' Sister Niao shouted amongst the rich, evacuating them to safety as they go to Anvile town, mumbles and complaints flooded her ears but she had no time to appease them, this is a matter of life and death.

'Anyone who sneaks past this border will be executed for defying the Directors will.' Merlene announced, 'Please remain here until further notice!'

The crowd remains quiet in fear for their lives.

'Do you really have to resort to threats?' Niao sighed, looking at Merlene with a disapproving frown.

'Just a safety measure.' She laughs lightly, looking up to the wall her eyebrow furrowing in concern. 'I hope those kids are alright, this plan is risky after all.'

Niao walked by her side, her head too looking at the wall the separated them from the other side.

'It'll be fine, the Director knows what he's doing, we'll be up next so we should hurry.'
