Felix's gaze wandered across the crowded room, his eyes scanning the sea of faces with disinterest. He had attended countless events like this before, and they all started to blend together after a short while.
The music, laughter both fake and real, polite conversations; everything was just too familiar, terribly predictable.
That was when he saw.
She stood by the window, looking stunning in all ways possible, with her back to the room as she gazed at the skyline. Everything about her, her posture, the way she seemed lost in thought caught Felix's attention. He just couldn't help but wonder, what must she be thinking about.
It was at that time she turned away from the window, and made her way to the exits.
Felix, not wanting to miss any opportunity immediately followed behind her and caught up with her just as she reached the exit.
Hi, he said, is voice low and smooth, as he reached her side. I'm Felix. I couldn't help but notice you from across the room.
She turned to him, her eyes wide and startled, flabbergasted as she met his gaze. Their hearts skipping a beat almost simultaneously.
After barely regaining her composure, she replied, her voice barely above a whisper, "I'm Aurora".
With that, the world around them seemed to pause.
Felix and Aurora stood there for a moment, locked in a gaze that seemed to stretch for an eternity. Felix felt a jolt of electricity run through his entire being awestruck.
Aurora, as well, seemed entranced. Her lips parted as if she was about to speak, but she didn't say anything. It was like she was drowning into Felix's gaze, like she was being pulled by electric current.
And then suddenly, she blinked. She immediately looked away, her cheeks flushing slightly.
Sorry, she said, I got lost there for a while. I know exactly what you mean he said. Then silence enveloped them.
To break the silence, Felix said, since you're Aurora, I hope you don't mind me calling you Rora. Of course not, she answered. Want to get our of here? She asked her eyes sparkling with mischief.
With his grin matching hers, he nodded and they walked out together.
