CHAPTER 14

By 9 the next morning,Ryan was done preparing for the outing.

When he went downstairs,Kelvin was already there sipping coffee.

"Are you going somewhere?" Kelvin asked while passing a cup of coffee to Ryan.

"Yeah....Alec asked me to accompany him somewhere today" Ryan said collecting the cup from Kelvin.

"So.....it's a date" Kelvin said.

"No it's not,it's just a normal outing" Ryan said.

"Are you sure about that?" Kelvin said.

"It's not a date, don't forget I'm in a relationship " Ryan said while putting his hair behind his ear.

"What a waste of time" Kelvin said mockingly.

"Hmmmm..." Ryan ignored him.

Few minutes later,Ryan Received a call.

"You're here?....okay I'm coming out" Ryan said before picking his bag,"I'm leaving" he said heading for the door.

"Have fun"

Ryan nodded before leaving the house.

Ryan approached the car and went in.

"Hey" he said to Alec.

"Hey....have you had breakfast yet?"

"Not yet"

"Okay let's go eat first "

"Alright "

Alec drove to a nearby restaurant,since it was Sunday,Mama Adams restaurant wasn't open.

When they were done eating,they headed out.Ryan noticed they've been driving for 3 hours,he turned to Alec and asked.

"Where are we going to?"

"Oh....we are almost there" Alec said.

"Okay...." Ryan understood Alec didn't want to say anything so he kept quiet but after few minutes he turned to Alec

"Are you perhaps kidnapping me?"

Alec was caught off guard and couldn't help laughing aloud.

"Are you scared?" Alec asked.

"No I'm not,but just know I am worth nothing" Ryan said to him.

"You're worth everything....even if I want to kidnap you, I'd just take you to my home" Alec said in all seriousness.

Ryan didn't know why he felt so happy when he heard what Alec said,he smiled and looked at Alec softly.

"We are here" Alec said.

They arrived at a big building and Alec drove in through the gates,there was a minivan at the entrance of the building and some men were unloading things from it.They both came down from the car and the driver of the minivan approached Alec while Ryan looked around enjoying the view of the place.

While looking around, his eyes caught sight of a signboard and he was surprised.

"We are in an orphanage" Alec said as he stood beside Ryan.

Ryan turned to look at him and said softly.

"I just saw the sign...do you come here often?"

"Not really,just once a month"

"You don't look like someone who does charity, seems you really can't judge a book by its cover" Ryan said "l am really impressed."

Alec smiled "well...my mom grew up in an orphanage,so both my parents had always wanted to establish an orphanage.....but they couldn't",after saying that Alec took a deep breath and suddenly went quiet.

Ryan looked at him closely,

"Are you alright?" Ryan asked in a very soft voice.

"Today's their death anniversary. I do come here on this date every month." Alec said after a while.

Ryan looked at the calendar on his phone and saw today was August 27th,he decided to make a mental note.

Ryan suddenly hugged him while patting his back.

Alec was stunned because suddenly laughing,but he accepted the hug.

Ryan didn't want to ask him about the death of his parents because he felt it wasn't a good memory for Alec.

They walked into the orphanage,it seems the children were in class because the hall was so quiet.

A woman in her late 30s walked towards Alec and Ryan,she greeted them before leading them to where the classrooms were located.

They saw the children learning in class so they didn't disturb them,they just had a look and went upstairs.

"We already cleaned your room" She said while handing the keys to him.

Alec thanked her before leaving for the room with Ryan,Alec opened the door and they walked in.

The balcony door was open so the room was brightly lit,the room wasn't too big but it was moderate,a bed that fits two people was placed in the middle of the room.There wasn't much furniture in the room only a little sofa,a coffee table and a little wardrobe.

"We'll be here for a while,you can sleep on the bed if you are feeling tired." Alec said.

"Okay...what will you be doing?"

"The computers I bought for the kids have to be arranged in the computer room,so I have to go check on that."

"Let me come with you "

"It's fine,you rest ...okay" with that Alec left the room.

Ryan walked to the balcony where he could see the garden and the playground,he admired the place for a while before walking back into the room,he checked his phone and saw that he has some unread messages from his friends and parents.

After answering them he decided to sleep for a while.

Alec walked into the room few hours later and found Ryan sleeping,he carefully went close to him.

"He even looks more beautiful when he sleeps....." He said to himself while brushing Ryan's hair softly.

He checked his wrist watch and saw it was 3:00, "the kids will be out any minute" he said.He stood up and walked towards the balcony when he heard the children screaming and laughing while they approached the playground.The noise woke Ryan up.

"You're awake?" Alec asked when he saw Ryan sitting on the bed still drowsy.

"Hmmmm" Ryan replied while trying to tie his hair, "how long have you been here?" Ryan asked.

"I just came in....the kids are out, would you like to meet them?" Alec said while approaching him.

"Yes....I have to wash my face first, where's the bathroom?"

"Down the hallway"

"Alright,I'll be right back" Ryan said before leaving the room.

After washing his face they both went to the playground to meet the kids.When the kids saw Alec from afar they rushed towards him and engulfed him in a hug,they started telling him how much they missed him.

Ryan stood at the side watching Alec's interactions with the kids,he couldn't help but smile when he saw how much they loved it.Seems Alec is really good with kids he thought to himself.

After telling them everything they needed to hear Alec called Ryan and introduced him to them.

Two little girls call Naomi and Anna went towards Ryan and told him to bend which he did. They wrapped their tiny arms around him and hugged him,he was surprised but he hugged them back.When the other kids saw how welcoming Ryan was,they ran to him with open arms and without hesitation Ryan hugged them back.

They played with the kids for some time before they all went in to eat dinner.Ryan enjoyed the time he spent with Alec and the kids,it seems today's event brought them both closer.After they were done eating they decided to leave since they both had work the next day but the kids didn't want them to leave.Ryan didn't want to disappoint the kids so he told Alec that they should stay the night and leave early in the morning the next day which he agreed.
