Amber slowly opened her eyes as consciousness returned to her. She immediately regretted it, as the morning light streaming through the window sent a spike of pain through her head. She winced, her hand going to her forehead to shut out the light. She sat up slowly, her head spinning. The aftermath of the previous night's alcohol consumption made itself known in the form of a throbbing headache and a queasy stomach.
The nausea hit her suddenly, like a wave of sickness washing over her body. She stumbled out of bed, her vision blurring and her stomach clenching. She made a beeline for the bathroom, her stomach roiling. She reached the bathroom just in time, dropping to her knees in front of the toilet and retching up the remnants of the previous night's alcohol. The bitter taste of vomit filled her mouth and her head spun with pain.
