Let Him In

Amber stumbled out of the mayor's house, her legs feeling like jelly. She leaned against the wall of the nearest building, her head spinning and her stomach churning. She closed her eyes, trying to take steadying breaths, but the nausea was growing stronger, her mind racing with thoughts of the mayor's words.

Amber heard a voice break through the fog of her thoughts, and she looked up to see a tall figure standing over her. She blinked, trying to focus her dizzy mind, and realized that it was De-Martin. He was standing in front of her, a look of concern etched onto his face.

"Are you alright?"

Before she could say or do anything, her legs gave out and she started to collapse. De-Martin quickly reached out, grabbing her before she hit the ground. She slumped against him, her body slack and unresponsive. He held her up, his arms wrapped around her as she lost consciousness.
