Ch 41: Pets -2

In the quiet shadows of the cave, two voices echoed from within the egg. They were soft but steady, carrying a deep sense of anticipation and readiness, as though waiting for the moment of release.

"I think it's time we finally leave this prison," one voice murmured, its tone tinged with excitement, yet holding back.

"Yes... after all this time," the other voice agreed, quieter and more hesitant, but equally eager.

Outside the egg, the air grew still as cracks began to appear on the egg's surface. Each small split echoed in the confined cave, a prelude to what was about to emerge.

The once seemingly indestructible shell began to shatter, crumbling away piece by piece. Light began to break through the cracks, and soon enough, the egg burst open with a loud snap, revealing two beings coiled tightly within.

Two snakes... one black as the night sky, the other white as pure jade... slithered out into the world.

As the remnants of the egg fell away, the two creatures, each only the size of a human forearm, turned to the one presence that radiated power within the cave: Feng Chen.

He sat cross-legged, his eyes gleaming as he watched the snakes emerge. The silence between them hung heavy for a moment, and then, without a word, he reached out with his qi, feeling the energy of both snakes.

They were fragile in appearance, yes, but Feng Chen could sense something far more powerful lying dormant within them.

With the two snakes still coiled in front of him, Feng Chen quietly muttered,

"System, disengage Do Not Disturb mode." Despite his anger toward the system, he knew it would be foolish to ignore its insights now. His suspicion of the system had grown, but there was still value in what it provided.

As expected, the system wasted no time.

System Notification:-

HAHA! Look at this! Two puny worms? After all the hype, after all your so-called 'grand progress,' THIS is what you get? Little, fragile snakes? Really? Oh, I am loving this! Maybe you should buy them collars and walk them around like pets.

-----

Feng Chen's eyes twitched slightly, but he didn't give the system the satisfaction of a reaction.

"Show me their status," he replied in a calm, almost bored tone. If the system was mocking him, then these snakes had to be far more special than they appeared.

The system window materialized, showing detailed information.

-----

Status:-

Species: Yin and Yang Snakes (Newborn, no cultivation yet)

Abilities:

White Snake: Harnesses Yang energy.

Black Snake: Harnesses Yin energy.

Bloodline: Hidden (Access Denied)

-----

Feng Chen raised an eyebrow at the Hidden Bloodline part. His mind instantly latched onto it. Something that's hidden from me? He tapped the screen, narrowing his eyes.

"What's this bloodline business? Why can't I see it?"

-----

System Notification:-

Aww, still too weak, huh? Your fragile little body can't handle that information just yet. Maybe when you grow a pair and stop crawling in the dirt, you'll find out. Until then, just be happy with your pets.

-----

A grin tugged at Feng Chen's lips. If the system was keeping it from him, that could only mean one thing... these snakes were important. Incredibly important. Powerful even, far beyond their appearance.

He stood up slowly, his gaze still on the two snakes. They stared back, their eyes reflecting not fear, but curiosity. Feng Chen knelt down, keeping his movements slow and calm. There was no rush; these creatures were linked to him in a way that went beyond words.

He extended his hands toward them and introduced himself.

"I am Feng Chen," he said in a firm but gentle tone, allowing the weight of his presence to fill the air. To solidify his connection with them, he activated his Yin and Yang Divine Body.

As he did so, black and white energy surged around him, swirling like a dance of two opposing forces. His skin shimmered with shifting black and white markings, each pattern resonating with the Yin and Yang forces within him. His aura exploded into a perfectly harmonized balance of darkness and light, of cold and heat, of life and death.

The two snakes recoiled slightly, surprised by the sudden surge of energy, but they weren't afraid. Instead, they seemed intrigued... drawn to him by something beyond the surface.

Feng Chen's display was not one of dominance but of understanding. Yin and Yang energy flowed through him naturally, and the snakes, each representing one of these universal forces, could feel it. They weren't being tamed by sheer power; they were being accepted as part of the whole.

The black snake representing Yin slithered closer, its dark eyes reflecting the Yin energy radiating from Feng Chen's left side, while the white snake, harnessing Yang, moved toward the warmth of his right side.

They exchanged soft hisses, conversing in a way that Feng Chen couldn't understand.

"Who is he?" the white snake whispered.

"Why does he carry both of our energies?" the black snake questioned back, their voices laced with curiosity.

Feng Chen watched them intently, but the words were lost to him. He turned his attention to the system and asked,

"What are they saying?"

-----

System Notification:-

Oh, look at the genius here. They're communicating in Qi waves, idiot. You won't understand a word until you form a Core. Try leveling up first before you go playing snake whisperer.

-----

Feng Chen sighed. Of course, that would be the case. A Core Realm breakthrough would have to wait a little longer, but that didn't mean he couldn't communicate.

"If you understand me, nod," he said aloud, holding his hands out to the snakes.

Without hesitation, both snakes nodded in perfect unison.

Feng Chen smiled, impressed by their intelligence.

"Good," he said softly.

"Then come here."

He stretched out his arms, and the snakes, as if trusting him instinctively, slithered forward, their sleek, cool bodies coiling around his arms. The sensation wasn't unsettling... quite the opposite. It was as if they were natural extensions of him, their energy syncing with his own.

Feng Chen stood, feeling a sense of completeness with the two creatures winding around his body. It wasn't just a symbolic connection... these snakes were the physical embodiment of his power.

His thoughts were racing. The hidden bloodlines, the yin and yang energy, the bond they shared... all of it pointed to something far more significant than just pets. They were going to be crucial to his path forward, not just as companions but as partners in his cultivation journey.

"I think we'll get along just fine," he said, his voice calm but filled with quiet determination.

As he moved toward the cave's exit, the two snakes coiled comfortably around his arms, Feng Chen looked up toward the sky, his mind already plotting the next steps. Whatever secrets these snakes held, whatever power they could unleash, he would find it. And when the time came, he would unlock it all.
