Chapter 8 - The S.T.A.R System?

Seeing a blue screen straight out of a video game, made Kai think that he was dreaming. He brought his hand to his face and lightly pinched himself to make sure he wasn't dreaming. The pain brought him back to reality and he gazed at the screen transfixed.
'Is this real' he wondered. 'Or is this some sort of holographic projector?' he wondered. he raised his left hand to try and touch the screen but just before he could touch it, the door opened and a nurse entered to check up on him.
'...What is he doing?' were the first thoughts of the nurse when she first saw the patient. The young man had his hand raised seemingly towards nothing and was looking strangely as well. Shrugging her shoulders, she moved into the room and smiled at him. She then moved towards the equipment to make sure that everything was in order and change the depleted IV bag. Strangely when she passed by his bed, his eyes widened suddenly but she never figured out why.
'She just walked through the screen' Kai wondered as the nurse walked through the blue screen without seeing disturbed. 'She just walked like there wasn't anything there. Am I hallucinating?' So deep in his thoughts, he did not hear the nurse's question and was only brought out of his thoughts when the she jolted him slightly.
"Huh? I'm sorry?" Kai wondered dumbly.
The nurse was a bit perturbed now but she still asked him "How are you feeling now dear?" "Much better ma'am" Kai confirmed instantly. "That's great! I'll just quick check everything and change your IV bag before I leave you alone" she intoned quietly.
Throughout the entire exchange, Kai looked between the nurse and the strange blue screen. Not once did she even bother to glance at it. Even if she did not want to, it would be human nature to at least glance at it for a split second. But not only did she not, she didn't even seem to acknowledge it's existence 'Is it truly in my head? Is it real?' Kai was in a duel state of mind right now. He wasn't sure what to do. While he had seen others play video games, he himself never got the opportunity to play anything himself which made it difficult to understand the next steps.
On a whim he just thought 'Open' and suddenly the screen shifted which shocked him and he yelped suddenly startling the nurse.
Kai immediately apologized to the nurse. "I'm so sorry ma'am. I was just thinking about something and I don't know what happened. I'm really really sorry" "That's alright dear. It must be something really disturbing to startle you like that" the nurse reassured him.
'Yeah, it was shocking' Kai mused.

Kai looked at all the information given to him in front of him with a slack jaw. 'This is exactly like a video game.' But before he could think any further, the nurse told him that everything looked normal and if he needed anything to press the call help button on the bed and slowly left the room
Kai watched her walk away and as soon as the door closed he promptly held out his hand and clicked the screen in front of him. He couldn't touch it but the screen still moved.

"Is this a practical joke?" He just couldn't believe it. This honestly sounded like a novel idea from some creepypasta to Kai. But since he had nothing better to do and out of curiosity, he clicked the tab stating [User Stats]
The screen seemed to shift and all his information with corresponding numbers appeared in front of him
