MILES 

I had just signed the contract with Ines, and as soon as the final stroke of ink dried on the paper, she suggested we go out to celebrate. I hesitated for only a moment. Refusing her might raise suspicion, and the last thing I needed was for her to start asking questions I wasn't ready to answer. So, with a polite nod and a practiced smile, I agreed.

We ended up at a cozy little bar, dimly lit with warm golden tones that made everything feel strangely intimate. Ines lifted her glass, her lips curving into a satisfied smile.

"To you, Miles Williams, for always coming to my rescue," she said, her voice light and teasing.

I forced a smile to mirror hers, though my own felt far less genuine. Raising my glass, I clinked it softly against hers. "And to you, for always trusting me to come up with a solution."
