Li Yang's men were out on the town spending an inordinate amount of money at a bar. They had been drinking heavily and were feeling no pain. The cost of the drinks was of no concern to them; they were having a great time. Li Yang's gang was granted the exclusive use of the VIP room in the bar. The music was loud, and they were enjoying themselves. Their laughter and jokes indicated that they were having a great time.
Saint was a member of Li Yang's gang. He was a lavish spender and was not afraid to spend money. He joined the gang in order to provide for his family.
AT SAINT'S HOUSE
The saint's wife was curious about the source of her husband's wealth. He always brought home large sums of cash, and she could not determine how he earned it. One day, she finally asked him where he got the money. The saint did not want to tell her the truth, so he lied and told her he had earned it through gambling. Xini asked the saint, "I have a feeling that you are not telling me the truth. You regularly bring home large sums of cash, and I cannot fathom how you earned it. Can you please tell me the source of your funds, and why you are being dishonest about it?" "Very well," Saint replied. "The matter began when Mr. Corner approached me. He offered me a generous sum to perform a task for him. I complied, and he remunerated me handsomely." Xini approached the saint and bowed. "I have a query for you, my saint. Is the Mr. Corner who approached you the same one who is deceased, or is it someone else from another planet? I am sure that you know the answer, for you are the saint who has access to the knowledge of the universe."
Saint was silent, unwilling to utter a word. He had been lying to his wife about the source of his wealth. He was ashamed that he had not been honest with her. He did not wish to tell her the truth, nor did he wish to lie anymore. If I find out that you had anything to do with Mr. Corner's death, I will not hesitate to reveal your secret," Xini said in a low voice, her eyes narrowed with suspicion. "Do you understand?"
Saint was a very peaceful person, but there was one thing he absolutely hated: anyone threatening him. He would do whatever it took to defend himself and his family. He was a strong man, and he had a lot of courage. He wasn't afraid to stand up for himself or for what he believed in. He was always willing to fight for what he thought was right, even if it meant putting his own life at risk. The husband turned and walked away, but not before he looked back and uttered, "I love you." He could not do otherwise, given that the threats came from his wife. He knew she was angry, and he knew why. But he also knew that he loved her and that he wanted to be with her. So he walked away, but not before he looked back and uttered, "I love you." Soon Saint left the scene, leaving his wife sobbing in their room. She was angry at her husband for what he had just done, but she didn't want to fight with him. She didn't want to make their situation worse, and she was afraid that if she said anything, he would just get angry and walk out on her.
Xini was standing in the room, speaking to herself about the change in her husband's behavior. She shook her head in disbelief and said, "When I married him, my husband was not a robber. What has changed? How did this happen?" Since my husband lost his previous employment, he has not been himself. His behavior has become unusual, and I am concerned about his mental state. I am at a loss as to what to do. He does not seem to want to discuss the situation, and I am unsure how to approach him. I fear that he will retreat into himself and become even more depressed. I am at a loss as to what to do.
Suddenly Xini's daughter Mella entered into the room. 'Mum' Mella said 'Why does dad have so much money yet we eat twice a day?' Mella asked. 'What?' Xini's sad expression switched to angry and confused. 'Yes' Mella replied 'I saw him hiding a stash of gold in the barn' Mella said. 'Show me' Xini replied as her and her daughter went to the barn.
IN THE BARN
'Where did he hide the gold?' Xini asked her daughter Mella. 'He hid it in a box and put inside the goat's pen' Mella replied. Immediately Xini took a shovel and dug up the piled up dirt, suddenly she heard a sound like a wooden box. She dug it up ad aw the box but it was locked what was she to do?
Few hours later, Xini went to her room and sat on her bed, she told her daughter Mella to stay in her room till her father came back. 'What kind of life is this? I try day after day to pretend to the world that all is well, meanwhile I am committing emotional and psychological suicide' Xini said to herself. 'My own husband is a robber? No, I will not jump into conclusion till my suspicions are right' Xini inquired. Xini kept on muttering more words to herself silently as her daughter watched her from the door without her knowledge. Mella was filled with rage when she heard her mother call her father a robber and also angry at her father for not taking care of them rather hiding the money he had and pretending to hustle harder than anyone in the family. Mella afterwards went to her room silently and sadly.
