Chapter 149: Selling the House

No matter how much one envies other people's bosses, things still need to be done.

Li Dong spent the entire morning reviewing documents, and by lunchtime, his eyes were starting to blur.

Irritated, he threw his pen aside and asked Liu Qi, "What do you think about hiring another vice president?"

Liu Qi cautiously replied, "What about Manager Sun?"

Li Dong frowned and said淡淡地, "Manager Sun is also busy, often working while ill, and hasn't even found a partner. It's not fair to let him be a lifelong bachelor just because he's working hard."

Liu Qi was silent, feeling a bit nervous inside.

Was General Manager Li really thinking of hiring a vice president just because he was too busy?

She didn't dare to delve deeper. After all, no matter how things turn out, Li Dong was the ultimate authority. She was the executive assistant, not the assistant to the general manager.

Li Dong didn't press her further and continued to review documents.

He was considering where to find talent, as this time he wanted to hire a real elite.

With Yuanfang developing so rapidly, both he and Sun Tao were struggling to keep up.

In his past life, Li Dong was just a salesman, and Sun Tao was only a deputy manager at a Carrefour branch. With Yuanfang expanding so much, neither of them had much experience.

Even now, they were barely managing to hold things together. As Yuanfang expanded further, both Li Dong and Sun Tao would be overwhelmed.

Of course, Liu Qi's speculation about decentralizing power was indeed one of Li Dong's goals.

---

Li Dong worked late into the night and finally returned home.

When he got back, Cao Feng and Cao Yu were watching TV. Seeing Li Dong, they quickly stood up.

Li Dong waved his hand, changed into slippers, and went to wash his face in the bathroom. Afterward, he asked, "How's everything? Are you adjusting well?"

Both Cao Yu and Cao Feng quickly nodded. Cao Yu said, "The supervisor is taking good care of me. An experienced employee is teaching me step by step. I should be able to start working in a few days."

Cao Feng added, "Same here. The supervisor took me out for drinks with clients at lunch."

Li Dong nodded slightly and asked a few more questions about their work.

Seeing that they were adjusting well, Li Dong was reassured. He was about to go to his room to rest when Cao Yu suddenly said, "Dongzi, there's something I need to tell you."

Li Dong sat back down and asked, "What is it?"

Cao Yu and Cao Feng exchanged glances before Cao Yu continued, "I asked the supervisor, and he said the company helps employees rent houses outside. Feng and I are planning to move into the dormitory tomorrow."

Li Dong frowned and asked, "Did I neglect something?"

Cao Yu quickly shook her head but hesitated to explain the reason.

Li Dong understood what they meant. Living with him might be stressful, and being a guest in someone else's home wasn't comfortable.

Now, Li Dong was not only their cousin but also their boss.

Living with the boss every day would not only be uncomfortable but also inconvenient for them. For instance, Cao Feng liked to shout occasionally and stretch his limbs during his free time, but he couldn't do that at Li Dong's place.

They were used to the rural life back home, and staying at Li Dong's place was almost unbearable for them.

After a moment of contemplation, Li Dong decided to be straightforward. Since everyone was uncomfortable, there was no need to pretend.

However, letting them live in the employee dormitory was not an option. They were relatives after all. Li Dong said, "Since you've decided, I'll find a place for you tomorrow. There are vacant apartments in Wanyuan Community, which is close to both my place and the company. You can come over and visit whenever you like."

Cao Yu and Cao Feng wanted to say more, but Li Dong waved his hand and said, "That's settled. Otherwise, my mom will never let me hear the end of it."

Mentioning Cao Fang, they stopped arguing.

---

The next morning, Cao Feng and Cao Yu went to work at the supermarket.

Li Dong remembered he needed to help them find a house and went to a real estate agency at the entrance of Wanyuan Community.

Upon entering, Li Dong was surprised to see Wang Jia, whom he hadn't seen in over a month.

Since the Zhu Hongtao incident, Li Dong had not encountered Wang Jia. Although he used to see her in the community, either his schedule had changed or it was just bad luck, but he hadn't seen her in Wanyuan Community.

At first, Li Dong barely recognized Wang Jia.

Once he did, he was astonished, "What happened to you?"

Wang Jia looked haggard, with deep-set eyes and a sallow complexion, almost like a different person.

Seeing Li Dong, Wang Jia was also surprised. When he inquired, she wearily replied, "It's nothing, just a bit tired from work."

"Tired from work? You look ill. Have you been to the hospital?"

Li Dong was worried it might be aftereffects from the previous incident, as Wang Jia looked too exhausted.

In just over a month, she had lost weight and looked unwell, possibly malnourished.

Even though Fang Qingfei had said Wang Jia only had surface injuries, it was hard to be sure. If she had internal injuries, they might not be apparent right away.

Wang Jia shook her head and remained silent, turning to leave.

Li Dong frowned and blocked her path, "Where are you going? I haven't finished asking."

Wang Jia forced a smile, "I'm not running away. I have other things to do. Not everyone can just wander around aimlessly like you."

"What other things could you have? Didn't Global just fire you? Where are you working now?"

"I wasn't fired. I resigned myself. Can't I find another job after resigning?" Wang Jia was irritated by Li Dong's remarks, feeling that he was always so unpleasant.

"Alright, you resigned. Fine. But what are you doing here?"

Li Dong was not one to meddle unnecessarily, but Wang Jia could be considered a friend. Seeing her in such a poor state, he was genuinely concerned.

Wang Jia didn't want to say much. Checking her phone, she said, "I have something to do. We can talk later."

Without waiting for Li Dong's response, she hurriedly left.

Li Dong didn't stop her but turned to the nearby sales assistant and asked, "What's she here for?"

The sales assistant smiled and responded vaguely, "Sir, client information is confidential."

"Cut the nonsense. I need to rent two apartments. If you don't tell me, I'll go to another agency."

"Ms. Wang is here to sell houses!" The sales assistant quickly replied.

As for confidentiality, it wasn't worth much.

Li Dong figured this would be the case and asked, "Is it the building 11 in Phase II?"

The sales assistant nodded.

Li Dong rubbed his chin, surprised to learn that Wang Jia was planning to sell her house.

Her house had been newly renovated, and she had barely lived in it for three months. Was she in such need of money that she had to sell it?
