TOO CLOSE FOR COMFORT

Emily sighed, frustrated rubbing her temples as Jack continued to argue with her over a simple math problem. They were sitting in their usual spot in Emily's house. Emily's focus was just on Jack, who seemed determined to get the problem wrong.

Come on, Emil, "I'm telling you, I think this is the way to do it," he said, his voice overshadowing mine. He wrote some numbers on the paper, his handwriting messy and bad.

"But Jack, you're wrong," I replied, trying to keep my patience. I have been tutoring him for weeks now, and it was getting frustrating. "The formula is clearly stated in the textbook. If you just follow the steps and just stop talking..."

Jack scoffed. "I don't need some book to tell me how to do math. I know what I'm doing."

Emily felt frustrated as she boiled over in anger. She had tried every approach she could think of - explaining it step by step to him, using real-life examples, even drawing diagrams. But no matter what she did, Jack just wouldn't listen.

"Really?" I said, my voice rising in anger. "Because from where I'm standing, it looks like you're making a mess of it. And you look on serious about it

Jack's face turned red with anger, and for a moment, Emily thought he might storm out. But then, he seemed to regain control of himself. "Fine. If you're so smart, why don't you just do the problem yourself?"

I hesitated, feeling anger already. I didn't want to do the problem myself- I planned to want Jack to learn. But he was making it impossible.

I'm trying to teach you, Jack," I said, feeling annoyed. "But if you're not going to listen, then maybe you should find someone else to tutor you. Like your new dumb girlfriend, I said

What !!! You can't speak about her like thatJack said as he narrowed his eyes. "You think Jenny could do a better job than you? Please. I doubt that.

Emily stood up, with an angry look on her face. "I've had enough of this session Jack. Maybe we can try again another time."

And with that, she walked out of the room, leaving Jack looking stunned and angry. She didn't know if she would ever be able to get through to him, but she knew she couldn't keep trying like this.

Before you go, my mom wants to speak to you," he announced.

"Okay," I replied.

"Now?" I inquired.

"Yes," he confirmed. As we began to walk towards the door, I halted suddenly.

"You go first," I insisted, forcing a fake smile.

"Why should I?" he questioned.

"Nothing, just go," I replied, mustering another forced smile.

"O...kay," he responded awkwardly. I had caught him staring lustfully at my Ass? I'd lost count. But at every opportunity, he seemed to take a glance.

"Emily," Mrs. Austin greeted warmly, enveloping me in a hug.

"Good evening, Aunt," I reciprocated with a smile.

"How are you?" she asked smiling.

"I'm doing great, ma'am, and you ?" I replied.

"I'm great, as you can see," she chuckled before her attention shifted to jack

"Oh, you," she teased. I hope isn't giving you a hard time. she asked knowing fully how noisy her son could be

"No, he's so sweet," I said, shooting a glance at Jac who seemed taken aback by my remark.

"Oh, thank goodness," Mrs. Austin sighed in relief l thought he would be of disturbance to you. Goodbye Aunty I bid farewell

Goodbye, Aunty," I bid farewell, but Mrs. Austin swiftly halted me in my tracks.

"I wanted to speak with you about something," she said, and I nodded, granting her permission to continue.

"It's about Jack and his new girlfriend," she began, prompting me to listen attentively.

"What about them?" I inquired, curious about her concerns.

"I love my son dearly, but I fear he's on the wrong path. I've heard unsettling things about that new girl and I believe she may not have his best interests at heart," she confessed, causing me to nod in understanding.

"It seems he's deeply in love with her, but I worry she'll only bring him heartache in the end," she sighed, voicing her anxieties.

"I want you to try and talk some sense into him," she implored, catching me off guard.

"Wait, what?" I exclaimed, taken aback by her request.

"Yes, as a woman, perhaps you could influence him to see reason by spending more time together," she suggested, leaving me stunned by her proposition.

"He hardly speaks to me anymore," I confessed, expressing my doubts about the effectiveness of her plan.

"I know, but it's worth a try, isn't it?" she persisted, reaching out to hold my hands in a gesture of camaraderie.

"I even thought he might develop feelings for you; you're a beautiful young woman and everything a man could desire. What does my son see in her?" she said aloud, her laughter easing the tension.

I will try my best and convince him so he can stop seeing her but I hope it doesn't lead to something else

"Even if it takes a few slaps to bring him to his senses, so be it," she quipped, sharing in our laughter.

"Thank you for your understanding," she expressed her gratitude before walking away.

making my way to my room, I saw Faith there, busy with her phone. I was thinking of how Mrs. Austin's words. I'd practically instructed Jack to avoid me, and now I find myself obligated to engage with him.

Am doing this solely for Mrs. Austin's sake. In my mind, she was genuinely one of the kindest souls I know, and her happiness means everything to me.

After dinner, I took a refreshing bath and settled in with my books, realizing it's been ages since I last read. Lazy as I am, I couldn't gather the energy to sit at my desk; instead, I sprawled out on my bed. Still trying to read my phone started ringing, it was Kelvin again, I decided to pick up cause things were boring already and, I needed someone to talk to

"Hi Emily he said hi I replied

"I saw that friends of yours faith Instagram post," he continued

 Why did you call Kelvin

"Can't you see?

"I've got feelings for you, Emily. It's like you've cast a spell on me," he admitted, eliciting a chuckle from me. Why am I laughing? Oh, dear.

"Being with you makes me feel happy.

"And I don't care about any other things. I like you for you, not just your..." he trailed off, and I finished his sentence in my mind.

"You don't need to mention my 'big ass,'" I interjected, making him grin over the phone

"But seriously, Timi, you're gorgeous, and I genuinely want us to be together. I may joke around a lot, but I won't toy with your feelings," he said

"Ok Kelvin I will think about that later

Ok, love he said. who gave you the right to call me your love? I said, feeling annoyed already.

 I'm sorry," he apologized, sighing

"But that still doesn't give you the right to say that, you know?" I reminded him sternly.

"I'm sorry," he apologized again. Ok, fine, I said as I hung up the call. I couldn't believe he had said that to me, although I was not annoyed; in fact, I think I'm falling for Kelvin I said, blushing.
