Chapter one

Claire's POV

Waking up to the sound I hated the most in the world,my alarm was ringing so loud I wondered how my ear was still able to function properly.

I practically dragged myself out of bed. It was Monday, and I didn't really feel like going to school today, but it wasn't like I had a choice.

I got myself ready and went downstairs to get my breakfast. My parents were really rich, and we had a butler and seven maids and also a chef.

Morning sweetheart, my dad said as he saw me descending the stairs, Morning dad, I said with a smile on my face. I sat down on the dining table, and my breakfast was served by our chef. Where's mom? I asked dad as I was eating, oh she went to work early today, sweetheart.

My mom was the Ceo of a very famous cosmetic company, and dad owned companies dealing with importation and exportation of foreign goods. Life was actually not too bad, but sometimes the memory of losing my boyfriend and my brother made life sour. Apart from that, I was okay.

I had the best friends anyone would ever wish for, Emily and Ivy.

Emily was really a simple girl who love to do anything as long as fun can be derived from it, on the other hand Ivy was a chatter box she was always the one who brought us the later gist in town.

I heard the sound of car horn outside my house, I knew it was Emily and Ivy who had come to pick me up. Bye, dad. I said as I grabbed my lunch and walked out of the house.

Hey girl!! Emily greeted me as I joined them in the car, hii I responded, "Who's ready for another for another hectic week of school?" I asked. They all laughed because, for some reason, it w as funny. We kept chatting until we reached school.

As I stepped down from the car, I looked at the building in front of us EAST NORTH HIGH SCHOOL was boldly imprinted at the top of the building. I walked into the school building only to run into my no one enemy, Tiffany. Tiffany is my high school rival. She was just this self-absorbed kind of person who literally brings trouble wherever she goes. She acted like she was always better than everyone else. She always saw me as a threat that needed to be eliminated.

Ugh! I grunted immediately when I saw her. Her face alone gave me the feeling to vomit.

Hey b*tch, she said as soon as she saw me. Look, Tiffany, I'm not in the mood now for any of your stupid games. Let me be. I immediately walked out as I said those words. I could see her face from the corner of my eye turn red with anger. She always hated ot whenever people ignored her. She tried to attack me from behind, but Emily was quick enough, she pulled her hair, which made her lose her balance and fall.

I burst out laughing, and Emily and Ivy joined. What a perfect way to start a Monday morning, "Ivy said as we walked away.

Settle down, students our biology teacher said as she stepped into the class. Behind her was a boy. He must be a new student, I thought to myself.

Well, students, this is Eric. Please welcome him our teacher said smiling.

Eric was a really cute boy. He looked at least 6'0 ft tall, which made all the girls drool over him except me, of course.

*flashback*

2 years earlier

Hey, I said as I stepped out of my house to meet my boyfriend, Liam.

Liam and I have been dating for 10 months now, and it felt like I've known him forever.

We went to an Italian restaurant for our date. He knew I loved Italian restaurants, so he always took me there. As we were eating, he brought out a little brown box and handed it over to me. Consider it an early birthday gift, he said to me. When I opened the box, I was surprised to see a very beautiful necklace inside. It had both our initials L&C on it. I felt my eyes getting watery, and I immediately wiped the tears from my eyes. Thank you I said to him. No worries, he said, helping wipe away the tears that successfully escaped my eyes. When we were done eating, as we left the restaurant, Liam stepped forward to call a taxi, and out of nowhere, a truck hit him. He died instantly, I would never forget that.

Umm...is this seat taken...hello

Claire! Ivy jolted me back to reality, I looked to see Eric smiling at me. He's asking if the seat next to you is taken Ivy said. Ohh...umm no. It's free, I said. Eric finally sat down, I began to wonder for how long he stood. I didn't really concentrate throughout the class. My mind was always flashing back to Liam. It was so hard for me to try and control the tears.

Grrrrrrng!!! the school bell rang, meaning biology class was over. Emily and Ivy had already packed their books, you guys go ahead, I'll catch up, I told them. I didn't want them to be late for their classes and it'll be my fault.

I started packing my books slowly, not wanting to go to the next class, I really wished I could just go back home. I sighed and got up to leave the class. Hey, wait up! I froze like someone had just poured me a bucket of ice on my body. I thought I was alone in the class, I looked back to see Eric, the new guy. I sighed in relief, umm...any problem, I asked him, trying to hide the feeling I was annoyed by the way he scared me. Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you, he apologised. Since I'm new, I just need help navigating the next class, he said smiling, common follow me, I said, trying my best to smile. We were having English class next, so I showed him the way.

After a long stressful day of school and showing Eric our classes, school was finally over,I was really tired, and I just wanted to go home. I bade Emily and Ivy goodbye, my driver was already waiting for me so I rushed to my car. Before I entered, someone called my name, and I turned back to see Eric running up to me.

Hey, I just wanted to thank you for today. You really helped me a lot. Yeah, you're welcome. I told him as I got into my car. I didn't want to wait for any more chit-chat. I just wanted to go home.
