CHAPTER 32: Confused in Love

Sebastian’s POV

The room felt stifling as I hung up the phone, the quiet hum of the office doing little to quell the storm in my mind. Persuading Evelyn to stay in Thunderclap was the right decision, or so I kept telling myself. But the disquiet in my chest lingered, a gnawing unease that refused to be silenced.

I was experiencing an unusual level of inner conflict. Brandon's words kept replaying in my mind, his voice the only one that could help me unravel the jumble of emotions I was wrestling with. "Have you reached a decision?" he inquired, his tone betraying a deep understanding that clashed with my usual sense of clarity.

I had made up my mind. Evelyn had lied to me, and kept secrets that could have unraveled everything. But I understood why. Her deception wasn’t born from malice but from fear—fear for her safety, perhaps even for mine. And because of that, I chose to forgive her. I decided to let her keep her secrets.
