Olivia could no longer maintain her composure. Her face turned ashen as she squatted on the ground, clutching her head.

Even at this point, she still wanted to avoid the news of my death.

It had been over a week since she abandoned me and left.

If I were still alive, how could I possibly not come looking for her? She knew better than anyone how clingy I was to her.

In fact, she had long believed the news of my death in her heart. She just didn't want to admit it because once she did, she didn't know how her life would be turned upside down.

My mother-in-law and Amelia forcibly dragged her to see my corpse.

"Open your eyes and take a good look at how horrifically Ethan died!"

Amelia pointed at the corpse covered in a white cloth in front of her, her eyes red as she yelled at Olivia.

Olivia trembled as she stepped forward, staring at the white cloth for a long time without moving.

Suddenly, she couldn't stand steadily and lost all strength, collapsing to the ground.

She simply didn't have the courage to face the fact that she had caused my death.

Amelia stepped forward with tears streaming down her face and yanked the white cloth away.

"Look closely. The man I considered family was burned into this state and has been lying here for a week!"

"And you? Have you come to look for him even once?"

When my charred corpse that was nearly unrecognizable appeared before Olivia's eyes, she could no longer bear it. She murmured to herself in tears, "How is this possible? The second rescue team only needed a few minutes. How could you possibly die..."

Amelia gritted her teeth hatefully. "You fool, you only thought the rock was high enough that the fire couldn't reach it, but with the thick smoke covering the entire mountain, how could he hold on for a few minutes?"

"You're simply heartless. He loved you so much, yet you let him burn to death!"

Olivia's eyes were full of bewilderment as she muttered, "No, no way. He loves outdoor sports so much. He couldn't possibly not hold on. Last time when you two went surfing and encountered a maritime disaster, he even pushed you off the surfboard and drifted for a day and night before being rescued. If he could last that long that time, how could he not make it this time?"

"The surfboard that time was a gift from Liam. If he hadn't tampered with it, Ethan wouldn't have jumped into the water to save me. Do you know he protected me and was hit by rocks until he vomited blood? I didn't want to harm him, so I let go myself."

"The culprit who caused me to be in a coma for so many years is clearly your beloved first love, Liam!"

"Impossible! Don't try to trick me!"

Olivia was struck as if by lightning. "What evidence do you have that Liam tampered with your surfboard?"

Amelia smiled bitterly. "What, I'm the victim standing right in front of you, and you don't even believe what I say?"

"Would I risk my life to frame him? And look closely. What is this?"

She threw my cancer diagnosis at Olivia.

After reading it, Olivia instantly broke down. She stroked my unrecognizable face with trembling hands, weeping uncontrollably.

"Ethan, I beg you to wake up. Don't you love me the most?"

"I was wrong. I really shouldn't have doubted you. Can you please say something?"

"I'm begging you, don't ignore me."

I was floating in the air, looking at her belated deep affection, feeling only disgust.

When I was alive and treating her well, she didn't cherish it. Now she was shedding crocodile tears in front of me.

My mother-in-law and Amelia couldn't bear to watch either.

"Hurry up and go back to your Liam. Ethan wouldn't want to see you. Sign the papers and get lost!"

They scolded Olivia and joined forces to drive her away.

The next day, my mother-in-law and Amelia held my funeral together.

Olivia rushed to my memorial tablet despite resistance, hugging the wooden plaque and crying loudly, refusing to let go no matter how people tried to pull her away.

"Ethan, I did love you in my heart, but I always wanted to make up for my youthful regrets. I wanted to give my first love a perfect ending."

"I never thought about leaving you. I only wanted to say a proper goodbye to Liam and then come back to you."

"I knew you would always be behind me, but how could you leave like this?"

She wept uncontrollably.

And I watched from the side, my heart filled with complex and indescribable feelings.

It turned out that she had always held this kind of thought, willfully wanting me to keep waiting for her.

Olivia, oh Olivia, have you ever thought that the human heart is made of flesh and I would get tired too?

Forget it. Everything with you is now a thing of the past.

In the next life, I never want to meet you again.

After the funeral, Amelia and Henry thought of those few synthesized voice messages and chose to report it to the police.

The police quickly cracked the case. The perpetrator turned out to be a security guard at the villa. He was Liam's cousin and had snuck into my home to collect my voice and appearance. At critical moments, he could even take videos at my place pretending to be me.

After being arrested, he quickly confessed everything, saying it was all under Liam's instructions.

In order to atone for his crimes, he voluntarily confessed that Liam had secretly tampered with my and Amelia's surfboards before we went to the beach.

He had even proudly boasted to his cousin after hearing the news of the maritime disaster, saying he had gotten rid of two thorns in his side and could get a bigger share of the Grayson family's assets in the future.

He just didn't expect that I would be lucky enough to be rescued despite my injuries, and Amelia didn't lose her life as he wished.

The police immediately brought Liam in, but he denied it to the death.

Due to the long time that had passed and lack of evidence, the police could only release him.

Olivia had been waiting outside the police station with people. As soon as she saw him come out, she knocked him unconscious and took him away.

When Liam woke up, he was tightly tied to a chair with Olivia holding a torch in front of him.

Amid his terrified pleas for mercy, Olivia smiled and let go, drowning with him in a sea of flames.

She immolated herself with Liam in our home.

In the blazing fire, I saw Olivia's calm face as she smiled at my bedroom.

"Ethan, in the next life, it's my turn to love you."

I shook my head with relief.

"Olivia, in the next life, and the one after that, let's never meet again."
