Chapter 113 Why me?

-Damn it, I forgot to activate the array.

Fei Fei cursed, while Paul got back to his senses and turned to the gate in which he vanished a few seconds later.

-What Array?

Natalie asked.

-The mirror array that Paul placed around this place.

He made it so that no one could peep at us.

Fei Fei said, going to a small stone pillar and placing her hand on it.

The moment she touched it, a barrier surrounded them along with the pool and all the other facilities.

-Now no one can see us from the outside, while we can see what's happening around us.

She explained.

From the outside, it looked like a giant mirror so whoever tried to look in their direction would just see his reflection while from the inside, they could see everything like there was nothing there.

Soon al, the ladies enjoyed the pleasures of a pool a jacuzzi, and even a sauna relaxing and forgetting that little incident.

Paul on the other hand went into the nearby forest to see if he could find some beasts to see the full extent of his new powers.

His chances were slim at best since most of the beasts were exterminated by the military during the beast tide, but even if he could not find one he could still find some herbs that he needed to practice his alchemy.

Right now he could barely make the most basic recovery potion and its grade was still too low to even try seloling it but it was a start and he would get better with practice.

The forest he went into was not that big for the standard of this world but it was more than enough for him and the plan was to spend at least two or three days in it.

Walking between the trees he found an abundance of simple herbs that he could use for practice.

This was a bit strange since there was a city right next to this place but no one seemed to bother with gathering these herbs.

They were not that precious but you could still make money by selling them.

Deciding not to think about it too much he proceeded to gather the plants one after the other.

It took a bit of time but the harvest was great and the deeper he went into the forest the more precious the herbs he found.

Unfortunately, there was no sign of any beasts around, but he was not in a hurry and even if he didn't find any breasts, the herbs alone were more than worth it to come out here.

Before the evening he got to a river bank and made his camp there.

This reminded him about Maya and Mia who he met in a similar camp at the river bank.

-I hope that this time I won't have to rescue anyone like I did with these two.

He said to himself and smiled at the memories of their first encounter.

Back then he was terrified and angry at the same time and he barely managed to take down the rabbits chasing the two girls.

Thinking about it all he took out his cauldron and started practicing his alchemy, using the herbs he collected.

This time, it was way easier. He only burned the ingredient once in ten tries; the rest was made into a liquid and stored.

Once he was done with that he started to purify the liquids that he created, which was the next step in making any potion or pill.

Unfortunately, Paul had a lot of trouble with this part and ended up burning more than half of the liquids he had made, the rest was not of the best quality but they were still usable and he continued to try and purify them even more but no matter what he tried the effect was the same so he gave up and started cultivating to replenish his mana and went to sleep.

The next morning he was woken up by screams coming from the forest and nearing his camp.

-Why is it always me?

He asked looking at the sky and sighing.

Paul went out, stored his gear, and climbed a tree to see what the hell was going on as well as to stay out of sight.

The plan was to not reveal himself if he didn't have to, he had more than enough drama as it was and didn't need to add more.

Once he took his position and looked around, he discovered a group of five young people around his age being chased by a horde of goblins numbering at least sixty or even more and they were nearing his camp at a rapid phase.

When they got closer he saw that there were six humans, two girls, and four men but one of the ladies was injured in her leg and was being carried on the back of one of the men.

Seeing their direction, Paul quickly figured out their plan.

The humans wanted to cross the river to get to safety since the goblins couldn't swim.

It was a good idea but it had one flaw, the goblins were gaining on them and even if they could reach the shore, they would be an easy target for spears rocks, and maybe even arrows that the green little bastards would throw their way.

Paul contemplated if he should help them but the chances were that the moment he tried, he would become the next target and there was no way for him to go against sixty or more goblins by himself or even with the help of this group at least in conventional combat.

However, he had no intention to fight them conventionally at least for this world's standard.

Seeing that the humans could not escape he decided to help but not reveal himself.

He didn't want another group of people to come looking for him with their thanks and proposals to join their families and judging from their equipment, these young people's families were anything but ordinary.

The moment the goblins entered his optimal range, Paul fired five water balls at them, drenching them but not doing much damage.

What came next was much more effective as a bolt of lightning struck next to the wet goblins, killing at least five of them and paralyzing at least twenty more.

The green creatures stopped in shock at this attack that came out of nowhere.

Their confusion and surprise bought some time for the humans to get some distance from them, and reach the safety of the river.

Unfortunately, the initial shock disappeared as soon as it started, and they rushed to catch up with their fleeing prey.

However, by that time, the humans had already reached the river and jumped in to try and get to the other shore which was around seventy meters away.

They were around twenty meters from shore when the goblins arrived, the first goblin to get to the river tried to throw his spear but was interrupted by an arrow that pierced its back.

Another three goblins tried to throw their weapons at the fleeing humans but ended up like the first one.

Paul was drawing his bow whenever a goblin tried to throw something and before the humans left the little green monster range, he had to shoot eight goblins all together.

Once the humans were out of range and almost on the other shore, he decided to end this farce and took out some of the fragmentation bombs from his storage and threw them at the group.

Goblins knew now where he was and it would not take them long to come for him if not for the bombs.

The explosions were loud and the small iron balls flew everywhere, cutting down the goblins in a very goursome manner.

It took six jars to destroy them completely and when Paul came down he found only a few of them still alive but none of them could so much as lift a finger.

During all this the group of young people made it to the other shore and were now watching as he went around, ending the misery of the surviving goblins.

They were terrified at the destructive power of the objects he had thrown and even more so as he just wiped out over sixty goblins like it was nothing.
