Chapter 9

A servant showed Avery to a guest room, which was an all-in-one suite, complete with a kitchen and restroom.

Avery walked around, taking in the room. She went to the kitchen and opened the mini fridge, only to find ten blood bags inside.

Were these all for her? There was no sign of anyone else here. She gingerly picked up one of the bags.

As the transparent blood bag got closer to her, her vision started turning blurry and woozy.

She quickly flashed to the bed and wrapped the blood bag around with bedcover before her vision returned to normal.

So, the rush of hunger age felt a moment ago was an illusion. Her sickness was not cured by some miraculous chance. A pang of sadness flashed through her heart.

Shaking her head ruefully, she opened the blood bag through the bedcovers. As soon as the blood entered her mouth, all her senses brightened, and her tongue was flooded with the delicious taste of fresh blood. She drained the bag in seconds, smacking her lips to savor the taste.

She took out three more from the fridge, repeating the same process before sucking them dry. Lying on the bed, she felt a burst of strength in her muscles. She looked at the blood type on the empty bag- Type O.

So, this is what it feels like feed on superior blood, fresh and of high quality. She hadn't thought she would drink this so soon.

For this meal alone, she didn't care if her boss worked her tirelessly. She wouldn't complain- as long he kept feeding her this. But, holding her cheeks in worry- This taste has ruined other blood for me. What should I do?

She calculated how to save the remaining six bags, deciding she would ration them bite by bite.

She took out her phone and opened her messaging app, noticing an unread message from Emily.

"Ave, spill! is the CEO hunky and dripping with sexiness? Meow~" Reading the chat, her mind flashed to her Boss's face, and that familiar throbbing cake from her gums.

She swallowed and ignored the text.

"Emmy, I'm glad you're so concerned about my safe arrival to the city.'' Her words dripped with sarcasm.

"See what a good friend I am? Cherish me more (^_~)." Emily typed back immediately, showing she was online, followed immediately by another text.

"So, my first question, Did you feel the spark as soon as you met him or an urge to eat him up? Go, girl...I will give you my special handbook filled with experience on how to seduce a man. I got you (^_~)." For the first time, Avery wondered how she met this crazy friend. A special handbook? And Emily got the nerve to send her a winky emoji.

"Argh..." If she saw Emily right now, she would pull out all her fur-even if she had to shave her clean. On the other side of the screen, Emily sneezed, feeling goosebumps on her arms.

"Type one more absurd word, and I'll shave you till you'll bare and tell your sub you are trying to cheat on him," Avery threatened, bringing up Emily's possessive clingy partner. If she wasn't good friends with Emmy he would have sent her all the hardest assignments to who knows where.

"What are you talking about? I was just asking if you were doing well. Did you eat and sleep okay?" Emmy's tone changed quickly, the fear of her partner was evident.

"I'm already texting him, so don't bother deleting that message. I have a screenshot.''

"(╥﹏╥) Ave, it was a slip of the hand. What do you want me to do for you not to tell him?"

''Get him to change all my future assignments to city A." Avery saw an opportunity and took it.

"I'll see what I can do...so about the handbook... ignore that message."

Avery felt a tick forming on her brows. She facepalmed and typed back,

"Okay, deal. You're the only Dominant I've ever seen who's afraid of her submissive in the whole BDSM community.'' She went offline after that.

She opened the iPad to see secludes and meetings piled up. She scanned through them, familiarizing herself with the task ahead.

...

The next day, Avery dressed in her work suit, ready to tackle her new job. She drank two blood bags and packed the remaining four in her briefcase.

She locked her weapon suitcase with a keycode and zipped the other for the mansion staff to take it to the house where she would be staying.

Walking out of the room, she headed towards the living room and sat on the sofa. Before her butt could warm on the seat her boss walked out.

"Good morning Sir," She greeted, this time well-fed and having better control of her urges. He nodded in response.

"My schedule for today," He requested in a businesslike tone, though his eyes scrutinized her covertly, trying to see past her male disguise.

Avery noticed his stare and assumed he was waiting for her to answer.

"Sir, you have a meeting with Mr Nicholas at 9 AM, a mall opening at noon, and a board meeting by...." She listed his schedule as they walked out of the building. A car was waiting for them in front of the house.

Lucas entered the car, and Avery was about to sit in the front seat when he called her back, motioning for her to sit in the back.

She thought nothing of it and changed direction, not knowing it was Silver who demanded for his mate to be close to him.

The air around Lucas was cold and distant, making her wonder what changed his mood so suddenly. Maybe he's like this normally, and she was just overthinking.

She felt tense and uncomfortable throughout the drive to the city center. When they finally arrived at the underground parking lot, she got out of the car, feeling like her muscles weren't her own.
