Nicholas's POV
After my discussion with my father, I knew I needed to come to my grandfather.
I know he would be the most disappointed in me.
"Nicholas, Why will you go to such lengths?
Is anyone forcing you to get married?" Grandfather asked calmly.
"Just do as your parents had asked you to, divorce her and end the act immediately" he ordered.
"But I don't want to do that," I replied stubbornly.
"Nicholas!"
"Grandpa, I don't want to sign those papers.
There must be some other ways to reprimand me for this but don't make me sign the papers" I continued.
"Then you will lose every right to inherit my company" Grandfather's voice turned stern.
I was surprised by the sudden change, I had never seen him use such a hard tone on him before.
"If you want to protect the one you love you will have to acquire enough power before you do that or you will lose the one you love and the opportunity to gather enough power to protect them"Grandfather advised in a soft tone.
I brood over his words and finally decided on what he was going to do.
I just left my grandfather's room to see the chaos happening in the living room.
I stood by the door to see Jennifer yelling at Anna and that broke my heart.
She was innocent, I had brought her into this and she does not deserve to be treated this way.
I decided to sign the papers, I will set her free and win her heart.
Maybe the universe will be generous enough to give me the opportunity.
"Nicholas!" She yelled as she saw me pick up the papers.
The shock in her voice tugged at my heart that I cannot even look in her direction.
Mia arrived suddenly and she hugged me.
Needless to say she signed them immediately and left without looking back.
"Hope you are all satisfied now?" I asked everyone present after Anna had left.
Pushing Mia away from me I storms out of the house.
"He is going to come around," I could hear Mum say as I walked away angrily.
~
At the hospital Anna's surgery lasted for about eight hours.
Anthony sat waiting outside the operation room.
He had informed his parents and brother about the accident and they were all on their way.
The hospital had contacted him after Anna was brought to the hospital.
An ID card was found on her when she was brought to the hospital and he signed the necessary documents for them to perform surgeries on her.
Sometime later, a convoy of vehicles parked in front of the hospital. About ten bodyguards came out of the car and waited for an elderly couple to come out of the car before they proceeded into the hospital.
The scene was a sight to behold as passersby stopped to watch the mysterious people.
"Where is my daughter?" The elegant and refined woman and her husband hurried to the front desk of the reception.
She asked the nurse in charge in a hurry.
Few bodyguards followed behind them.z,
Anthony came out to meet them there and explain what had happened.
Although Anna had maintained little contact with her family over the years it did not change the love they had for her as the only daughter of the family.
Her father, Simeon Varon. Had also kept someone on her to give him feedback on her wellbeing.
Everything she had been doing was reported to him but being out of the country for a while, he only came back today to hear everything that had happened in the past months and her marriage into the Chester family did not pass him by.
Anna remained unconscious until 24 hours after the surgery.
She opened her eyes slowly to the white interiors of the hospital.
She had been moved to a VIP ward after the surgery, her father had ordered to have her moved back home to their family private hospital but the doctor advised against it as it was not safe yet because of the severity of her injuries.
"Water" Anna croaked out with difficulty from her patched throat.
"You are awake, my baby" her mother exclaimed happily as she saw her open her eyes.
She was the only one waiting by her side, she had sent Anthony and Anna's father had left because of an important meeting.
"Mum" Anna breathed out, tears welling up in her eyes.
"Let me get you water and call the doctor" she said in a hurry and left.
The doctor ran a series of tests on Anna and confirmed that she was okay to be moved.
Anna in the early morning of the second day after the accident she was moved back home.
Her mother and brothers were fuzzing around her when they arrived.
The private hospital was not far from the family residence, the hospital has the best qualified personnels in the country. Bodyguards surrounded the hospital and outside her ward.
Anna left everything to her mother as she slept most of the time.
Trying to heal from the physical wounds and the emotional ones.
One month after she moved back home, Anna had made good improvement and was no longer at the hospital.
She was in her parents house, and her room was filled with everything she could ask for.
Anthony sat beside her on the bed and was discussing with her when he suddenly spoke on one thing she was struggling to get out of her mind.
"Father is pissed that you married that man, why did you marry him?" He asked curiously.
"Wait, father knows?" Anna asked, shocked.
"Do you really think father let you out of his sight without doing anything?.
He knows more than you would ever imagined" Anthony replied.
"Just forget about doing anything out of his sight again, and he might end that family and send them out of this country entirely".
"No!, he can't do that. Tell father I will deal with them my own" Anna begged Anthony while holding onto his arm.
"And how will you deal with them?" An authoritative voice asked, startling both of them.
"Father" Anna whispered, tears blurring her sight.
"I won't spare any of them for what they did to you". Her father said, patting her gently on the head.
"Father, it's my fault.
They have nothing to do with it".
"Nonsense!"
Her father said angrily.
