Knights, Mages, And Elites

With excitement, Blaze started explaining

"Evolving from the Second Realm needs serious efforts and relentless training.

At this point, there are mainly two different paths of power; either you train with the sword to become a Knight, or train with Magic to become a Mage."

Blaze elaborated

"Mages generally focus on spells and different types of Magic. However, most Mages focus only on one type of Magic, the one related to their affinity. That's because using the element that you're attuned with is both easier and consumes less Mana.

As for Knights, they specialize in close-quarters combat. Some choose swords as their main in-hand, some go for daggers, and some fight with other melee weapons."

Blaze's tone got even more excited as he explained further

"There are many types of Knights, such as:

Offense-oriented Knights like Fire Knights.

Defense-oriented Knights like Water Knights.

Assassins like Darkness Knights.

The possibilities are simply endless! You might even find offense-oriented Water Knights, everything is possible."

Blaze was about to keep quiet and let Leus talk, but then he remembered that he had forgotten to say something important

"Oh, and as for the way to evolve, it's simple; once you're strong enough and exceed the Life Force threshold you'll become a Third Level Being"

Leus nodded and started thinking about everything he heard so far

'So if I keep training with spells I should evolve to become a Mage ...'

He scratched his chin in thought

'Hmm ...'

A question came to his mind, so he asked in an interested tone

"And what happens when someone evolves to the Third Realm?"

With a grin, Blaze explained

"Big difference. Mainly, you live longer and also you become a lot stronger.

To put that into perspective, a Knight can defeat a group of Soldiers with ease, similarly, a Mage can kill multiple Soldiers with a single spell"

Leus asked

"Who is stronger? Knights or Mages?"

Blaze shook his head

"That's not really how it works ... it ultimately depends on every individual, Affinity also plays a role.

However, generally speaking, Knights have stronger and more resilient bodies because their training is oriented around physical strength, so they're a lot stronger in perseverance and in close-quarters combat. But if a Mage has the advantage of the distance, then he might be able to kill the Knight before he even reaches him.

Regardless of all that, Mages can also cause a lot more damage than Knights; some Mages use spells that cause area damage or destroy structures, unlike Knights who fight with swords or such weapons"

"I see ..."

For a bit, Leus contemplated everything he heard

'If I become a Mage, I can defend myself better and even live longer'

'Sounds pretty cool'

Then Leus looked at Blaze and remembered something

' ... That's right'

'What happened yesterday?'

Blaze remained quiet because Leus seemed to be thinking deeply, so he gave him all the time he needed.

'Oh? Wait!'

Suddenly, a thought came to Leus' head

'Dad is an Elite Knight! This means that he's in the Fourth Realm? Elite is what comes after Knight, right?'

He quickly asked

"Dad, are you in the Fourth Realm? I remember that you're an Elite Knight?"

With a smirk, Blaze answered

"Correct. Fourth Realm Beings are called Elite Knights or Elite Mages depending on the category they chose to follow."

He added in a more serious tone

"However, you can only reach Elite after unlocking a Skill"

"A Skill?"

Blaze nodded

"Yes. A Skill is a powerful attack you create personally. It's an attack that belongs to you, as in that you feel connected to it. But that doesn't mean that it has to be a unique one, you can copy someone else's Skill."

Then Blaze smiled wryly remembering how many other Elite in the Military had a Skill that was either similar or exactly the same as his own ...

"Well ... even if you don't copy, there will probably be people with a similar Skill" Blaze murmured

He quickly pushed these thoughts away and returned to the present ...

"Anyway, most Elite Knights have Skills that increase either their range or speed or maybe a Skill that defends them. It all depends on the Elite's style.

As for Elite Mages, they usually have some powerful mass destruction Skill, like a huge fireball or something of that sort"

Leus was impressed

"That sounds pretty cool!"

Blaze agreed

"Yes, you are right ...

But note that gaining a Skill is the last step in evolving to be an Elite; you first have to get stronger either by physical training or Magic practice. By becoming stronger you increase your Life Force, allowing you to unlock your Skill and evolve"

By now, a lot of things made sense to Leus

'So Life Force is the basic requirement for Evolution, and some Realms require something unique to advance to it'

' ... I think I got the main points'

Blaze asked

"Any questions regarding this?"

"How powerful are Elites?"

"Compared to lower Realms, very powerful.

Also, the differences between individuals becomes very apparent in that Realm; the difference between the strongest Elite and the weakest one is as big as the difference between an Elite and a Knight."

With a Shrug, Blaze continued

"I honestly don't know much about the reasons for such differences, so I won't talk about it, but I can tell you about a cool ability I have, it's called Domain"

"Domain?"

"Yes, Domain.

Domain allows me to sense anything around me in a radius of 100 meters even if I don't see it. Whether it is an attack or a person, I can sense it and sense exactly how powerful it is"

When Leus heard that he roughly understood what happened yesterday

'He found me using his Domain and thought that I was someone else ...'

A flash of understanding ran through Leus' eyes, and when Blaze noticed it he asked Leus

"Leus, you understand why I'm telling you all this, right?"

Leus nodded

"Yes"

"Why?"

Leus looked into his eyes and replied

"You want to know how I evolved ... "

Blaze nodded

"Exactly ..."

After saying that, Blaze kept quiet, giving Leus the time to prepare himself.

Leus, on the other hand, was thinking about what exactly to say ...

'I don't think I should tell him about Sal; nothing good will come out of it ...'

'However, I can tell him about my Magic practice'

After thinking about it for a bit, Leus spoke in a serious tone

''I'll just show you"

After Leus said that, he silently activated Mana Vision.

His eyes started glowing and emitting white light, and he looked at Blaze ...

Blaze was surprised by what he saw

' ... Silent casting? Is he wasting all his Mana on a single spell? Or is his Mana Pool huge at this age?'

To make sure, Blaze asked

"Are you able to cast other spells?"

"Only two more"

"Show me"

Leus approached Blaze and silently cast the spell Examination on his body ...

Immediately, Blaze recognized the spell

'This is a Light Spell ...'

"Did you learn these from Remedy?" Blaze asked ...

With a nod, Leus replied

"Yes, I saw what she was doing and copied it"

Blaze nodded

"You said two more, where's the second one?"

Leus was a bit hesitant about this one ...

'Should I cast Vivify or the degraded version Remedy used?'

But he quickly realized that he was worrying for no reason

'It's silent casting, he won't even be able to tell the difference, both result in the same thing'

Leus silently cast Vivift, using it to push a bit of his Life Force out of his body and to his palm ...

As soon as Blaze saw that, he narrowed his eyes and slightly pushed Leus, breaking his concentration and canceling the spell

Leus was confused as to why Blaze did that

"What's wrong, Dad?"
