Chapter 14

Gerard left angrily and went straight home, went into his study to drink some whiskey. He threw back the whole drink down his throat, yet the burn of whiskey couldn't quench the burn of his desire for Miranda, there was no calling her Knox. For him she was Miranda, for a moment he wondered why he couldn't just have wanted a simpler woman? Why it had to be a stubborn, opinionated and definitely unladylike woman. But even he had to admit to himself it was part of her charm.

He just had to have her, then the novelty would wear of. His mother who of the same mind for although she liked Miranda or Knox as she called herself she wouldn't necessarily want her for a daughter in-law except maybe her son did, for he would have thought of the consequences of a lady with her reputation.
