Ch. 60: Rebound Doll, Part 1

Darkness.

Silence.

Suffocation.

Ebbing.

Penn couldn't tell if he was floating or sinking. Was it gravity that was crushing him, or was it water that was drowning him? His body was too stiff and sore to be able to tell the difference. Was it a lack of oxygen or that there was no oxygen to be found?

The whole area around the Guide illuminated a fluorescent blue - as if he were surrounded by bioluminescent jellyfish. He wasn't sure if it was painful or painless. Was he in his body, or outside it? The problem was he couldn't think coherently.

This was a completely different feeling than what Penn had experienced in his nightmares. It felt like someone had taken something vital from him. With the subtle pulses, he would feel now and then, the Guide wondered if he was waiting for the energy to collect inside him once more. Will he be able to wake up again then?
