Ch. 71: Penniless Thoughts, Part 3

The following day wasn't much better for Penn. Even though he told Nathan he had plans for the day, he still received texts from the Esper first thing as he woke. It was already bad enough that he had kept the Guide awake until the wee hours under the guise of training.

But even now, as Penn went for his morning jog, there was Nathan, waiting along the river. He sighed as he wiped off the sweat from his brow and approached the Esper, who waved a coffee cup for him. The Guide wanted to walk in the opposite direction - but avoidance never solved anything.

"What do you think you're doing?" Penn asked, keeping a classic straight face. Nathan held out the coffee cup.

"Peace offering?" he replied, sounding unsure of himself. Probably because he had never apologized to anyone before, and here he was, apologizing yet again to the same man.
