Invited by the quiet girl

This time of day was a busy morning. Yua sitting down at a table in the local cafe just down the street from her apartment, apparently waiting for someone. Who could it be?

She taps her finger on the table, patiently waiting for the person whom invited her out.

'What am I even doing here… I mean.. I guess it's good to get out of the house every now and again. I've been staying cooped up since I moved here.'

She kept talking to herself, asking questions and wondering that she was completely unaware of the waiter trying to get her attention.

"Ma'am.. Hello? Ma'am."

She quit her tapping, noticing the middle aged man trying to get her attention.

"Ah yes, Sorry about that."

"Would you like to order ma'am?"

"Ah, no I'm waiting for someone. Could you come back in a couple minutes?"

"Very well then, I'll be back shortly.

After that tiny interaction the doors of the cafe opened and with a ring to notify the employees that they got a customer. The person who had walked in looked familiar… as it was Junko from Yua's gym and homeroom class. Yua noticed Junko and waved over at her to come sit down, and Junko did.

"Ah, Himura-San I'm so glad you agreed to meet up."

"Yeah.. I thought it would be nice to get out the house.. oh and you don't have to address me by my last name, I know we just met but you can call me by my first name."

"Oh really..? Well in that case you can address me by my first name too Yua-San." Junko smiled.

The two remained silent for a while. Junko trying to decipher Yua from her appearance. She looked uninterested and so calm. It was hard to tell what kind of girl Yua is.. And what she could be thinking about.

"Soo Yua-San! Do you come to this cafe often?"

"Actually no heh, but it did catch my eye as I heard this place had the best strawberry shortcake."

"I'm guessing that's your favorite then Yua-San?"

Yua nodded with a smile, trying show some type of friendliness to the girl she intended to injure in dodgeball.

Junko returns the smile before looking away from Yua's direction to ask her something.

"I hope you don't mind me asking this Yua-San, but I'd like to get to know you better.. So could you tell me what you do before moving here."

A small period of silence overcame the table.

'Why is she being friendly? Coming out her way to get to know me..? Might as well see where this leads to..' Yua thought.

"I… didn't do much.. Most of my time in Okinawa was spent either at home or outside."

"What about school? I heard that place has a lot of good education."

Yua drops her head, looking at her hands remembering a little glimpse of the past.

"Well… I wasn't much of a whizz kid, but the schools were fine. Haha.."

"At Least I wish they were…" She thought.

"But that's enough about me! What about you, Junko-San."

Junko took a quick second to think, she was nervous to speak about herself. Taking a strain of her long baby blue hair, she twirled it around her fingers.

"Well.. I was born and raise here so there's nothing very special about that. Although school wise it wasn't all bad. I was a straight A's kid!"

Yua's face frowned a bit, but wasn't noticeable by Junko.

'Is she trying to brag about being a smart kid..?' Yua thought.

A little bit later and the two end their meeting by ordering some coffee and sweets. It seems that Yua had gotten along somewhat well with Junko, a start to a possibly good friendship. Before heading their separate ways, the two said bye to one another and proceeded home.
